The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of organic fertilizer levels (castor bean) coverage and blades irrigation applied by an automatic starter irrigation (AAI) in organic production of onion (Allium cepa L.). The experiment was conducted in the period June to October 2014 in Fazendinha Agroecol?gica 47 km (Integrated System Agroecological Production - ISAP), located between the coordinates 22?45` S and 43?41`W in the municipality of Serop?dica-RJ. The experimental design was a randomized complete block in a factorial scheme 4 x 3, with 12 treatments and 5 repetitions. The treatments were characterized by applying 4 irrigation levels (L1, L2, L3 and L4) and three doses of organic fertilizer: 300g / m?, 200 g / m? and lack of castor bean. The evaluated production variables were total productivity bulbs (TPB), fresh weight of bulbs (FWB), dry matter content of the bulbs (DMCB), dry matter productivity bulb (DMPB), average diameter bulbs (ADB); the bulbs were divided into seven cross-sectional diameter classes. It was also determined the total soluble solids (TSS) and efficiency of water use (EWU).The data were tabulated and submitted to analysis of variance and means were evaluated with the help of regression and Tukey test for the blade factor irrigation and fertilizer doses. The water depth factor significantly influence the values of TPB, FWB, DMPB and ADB ranging, respectively, 19.42 to 31.95Mg ha-1 of 61.12 to 83.30 g, the 1.73 2.59 t ha-1and the 4.52 to 5.13mm.The DMCB variables, TSS and the EWU were not affected by water depth, which showed values from 7.9 to 8.6%, from 14.6 to 16.7 ? BRIX and 83.1 to 105.5kg ha-1 mm-1.Organic fertilizer applied in coverage factor did not influence in any of the production variables, and this fact, as a result, possibly fertilization used in planting the seedlings and the high fertility of the soil level of the experimental area. We conclude that the organic cultivation of onion is promising in the environmental conditions of the Baixada Fluminense region and automation in micro-irrigation system is able to provide water content suitable soil along the onion crop cycle. As vari?veis de produ??o avaliadas foram produtividade total de bulbos (PTB), massa m?dia fresca de bulbos (MMFB), teor de mat?ria seca dos bulbos (TMSB), produtividade massa seca de bulbo (PMSB), di?metro m?dio de bulbos (DMB), os bulbos foram separados em sete classes de di?metro transversal. Foi determinado tamb?m o teor de s?lidos sol?veis totais (TSST) e a efici?ncia do uso da ?gua (EUA). Os dados foram tabulados e submetidos ? an?lise de vari?ncia e as m?dias foram avaliadas com aux?lio da t?cnica de regress?o e teste Tukey, para os fatore l?mina de irriga??o e doses de adubo org?nico. O fator l?mina de irriga??o influenciou significativamente os valores da PTB, MMFB, PMSB e DMB que variaram, respectivamente, de 19,42 a 31,95 Mg ha-1, de 61,12 a 83,30 g, de 1,73 a 2,59 Mg ha-1 e de 4,52 a 5,13 mm. As vari?veis TMSB, TSST e EUA n?o foram influenciadas pela l?mina de irriga??o, as quais apresentaram valores de 7,9 a 8,6 %, de 14,6 a 16,7 ?BRIX e de 83,1 a 105,5 kg ha-1 mm-1. O fator adubo org?nico aplicado em cobertura n?o exerceu influ?ncia em nenhuma das vari?veis de produ??o, sendo esse fato, decorrente, possivelmente da aduba??o usada no plantio das mudas e pelo n?vel elevado fertilidade do solo da ?rea experimental. Analysis of performances of crucifers-legumes cover crop mixtures to provide multiple-ecosystem services

Multi-services cover crops (MSCC) grown during fallow period between two cash crops provide various ecosystem services. Among species used as MSCC, crucifers can efficiently prevent nitrate and sulphate leaching by catching residual soil mineral nitrogen (N) and sulphur (S) afterthe preceding cash crop (N and S catch crop services). Crucifers also have a unique capacity to suppress pathogens due to the biocidal hydrolysis products of endogenous secondary metabolites called glucosinolates (GSL). The aim of our study was to assess the provision of various ecosystem services linked to N, S cycles and biocontrol potential for a wide range of bispecific crucifer-legume mixtures in comparison to sole cover crops of legume and crucifer. We carried out experiments in 2 contrasted sites (Toulouse and Orléans regions, France) during 2 years in order to assess these services and the compatibility of various bi-specific crucifer-legume mixtures. We tested a great diversity of species, such as i) crucifers : rape, white mustard, Indian mustard, Ethiopian mustard, turnip, turnip rape, radish and rocket, and ii) legumes: Egyptian clover, crimson clover, common vetch, purple vetch, hairy vetch, pea, soya bean, faba bean, and white lupin. Our study demonstrated that crucifer-legume mixtures can provide and mutualize various ecosystem services by reaching from 2 thirds (GSL production, S and N green manure) to the same level ofservice (N and S catch crop) than the best sole family of species. GSL profile and concentration did not change in mixtures meaning that crucifer-pests interactions were identical. Through a literature review we also illustrated that biocontrol services of crucifers could be largely maintained in crucifer-legume mixtures for a wide range of pathogens and weeds while reducing potential disservices on beneficials and increasing N related service

Les cultures intermédiaires multi-services (CIMS) implantées en interculture entre deux cultures de rente permettent de produire de nombreux services écosystémiques. Parmi les familles d’espèces utilisées comme CIMS, les crucifères réduisent efficacement la lixiviation de nitrate et de sulfate en captant l’azote (N) et le soufre (S) minéral du sol (services de piège à N et à S). Les crucifères ont aussi la capacité de contrôler les pathogènes via des composés biocides issus de l’hydrolyse de métabolites secondaires appelés glucosinolates (GSL). L’objectif de nos travaux de recherche est d’évaluer les performances en termes de services écosystémiques liés à l’azote, au soufre et au potentiel de bio-contrôle d’une grande diversité de mélanges bispécifiques de crucifères et de légumineuses en comparaison aux CIMS pures. Nous avons réalisé des expérimentations sur 2 sites contrastés (région de Toulouse et Orléans, France) et sur 2 années pour tester les performances de mélanges crucifère-légumineuse en comparaison aux espèces pures. Les espèces testées sont i) pour les crucifères : colza, moutarde blanche, moutarde brune, moutarde éthiopienne, navet, navette, radis, roquette, et ii) pour les légumineuses : trèfle Egyptien, trèfle incarnat, vesce commune, vesce pourpre, vesce velue, pois, soja, féverole et lupin blanc. Nos travaux de recherche montrent que les mélanges crucifère-légumineuse peuvent produire simultanément divers services écosystémiques avec un haut niveau d’expression, allant de 2/3 (production de GSL, engrais vert à N et S), à quasiment 100% (piège à N et S) du service produit par la famille d’espèce pure la plus performante. La concentration et les types de GSL ne changeant pas en mélanges, les interactions des crucifères avec leurs pathogènes restent identiques. Via une revue de littérature nous concluons également que le service de bio-contrôle des cultures pures de crucifères peut être maintenu en mélanges crucifère-légumineuse sur une grande diversité de pathogènes et adventices tout en réduisant les potentiels dis-services sur les auxiliaires et sur le cycle de l’azote. / Multi-services cover crops (MSCC) grown during fallow period between two cash crops provide various ecosystem services. Um experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda Experimental Rafael Fernandes, localizada no distrito de Alagoinha, zona rural de Mossoró-RN, no período de agosto de 2014 a dezembro de 2014, com o objetivo de avaliar a eficiência agroeconômica de cultivares de coentro consorciado com rabanete adubado com jitirana mais esterco bovino. O experimento foi conduzido no delineamento de blocos completos casualizados em esquema fatorial 2 x 5, com três repetições. O primeiro fator foi constituído duas cultivares de coentro (verdão e tabocas) consorciado com rabanete cultivar Crisom gigante, e o segundo fator constituído de cinco quantidades da mistura de jitirana mais esterco bovino (0,0; 1,0; 2,0; 3,0 e 4,0 kg m-2 de canteiro). O espaçamento utilizado para o rabanete foi de 0,1 x 0,1 m. Já no coentro, o espaçamento utilizado foi de 0,1 x 0,05 m com cinco plantas cova-1 , correspondendo a 1000 plantas m-2 de canteiro. Para a cultura do rabanete foram avaliadas as seguintes características: altura de planta, diâmetro de raízes, produtividade da parte aérea, produtividade comercial de raízes, produtividade de raízes mais parte aérea, número de molhos e massa seca de raízes. Para a cultura do coentro foram avaliadas as seguintes características: altura de planta, número de hastes por planta, massa fresca, massa seca e número de molhos de coentro. Também foram utilizados alguns indicadores econômicos, tais como: renda bruta e custo de produção, renda líquida, taxa de retorno e índice de lucratividade, as quais foram utilizadas para verificar a viabilidade econômica do consórcio. Não se observou interação entre os fatores estudados. O melhor desempenho agroeconômico do sistema foi obtido na dose de 4,0 kg m-2 de canteiro, com renda bruta de R$ 19.825,00, renda líquida de R$ 16.519,00, taxa de retorno de R$ 6,00 e índice de lucratividade de 78,7%. O consórcio apresentou razão de área equivalente superior a 1,0 nas doses de 3,0 e 4,0 kg m-2 de canteiro, com exceção das doses de 0; 1,0 e 2,0 kg m-2 de canteiro, com razão de área equivalente 0,4; 0,6 e 0,9. O consórcio contribuiu para melhor aproveitamento e foi significativamente importante na produtividade das culturas, sem comprometer a qualidade comercial dos produtos. / The use of scarlet starglory is mixed with manure as an alternative to be used in organic system. An experiment was conducted at the Experimental Farm Rafael Fernandes, located in Alagoinha district, rural Mossoró-RN, from august 2014 to december 2014, with the objective of evaluating the agricultural economic efficiency of intercropping coriander cultivars with radish fertilized more manure scarlet starglory beef. The experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design in a factorial 2 x 5, with three replications. The first factor consisted of the two cultivars coriander (verdão and tabocas) intercropped with radish, cultivate Crisom giant; and the second factor consisting of five quantities of mixture of more scarlet starglory with bovine manure (0.0; 1.0; 2.0; 3.0 and 4.0 kg m-2 site). The space used for the radish was 0.1 x 0.1 m. In the coriander, the spacing adopted was 0.1 m x 0.05 with five plants pit-1 , corresponding to 1000 m2 plants site. For the radish crop the following characteristics were evaluated: plant height, diameter of the roots, productivity, business productivity, roots productivity more shoots, number of sauces and dry mass of roots. For coriander crop the following characteristics were evaluated: plant height, number of stems per plant, fresh weight, dry weight and number of coriander sauces. We also used some economic indicators such as gross income and cost of production, net income, rate of return and profitability index, which were used to evaluate the economic viability of the consortium. There was no interaction between the factors studied. The best agroeconomic system performance was obtained at a dose of 4.0 kg m-2 site, with gross income of $ 19,825,00, net income of $ 16,519,00, return fee of $ 6.00 and 78.7% profitability index. The consortium presented area ratio equivalent of more than 1.0 at doses of 3.0 and 4.0 kg m-2 site, except for the doses of 0; 1.0 and 2.0 kg m-2 site, with equivalent ratio 0.4; 0.6 and 0.9. The consortium contributed to better use and was significantly important in crop yields without compromising the quality of commercial products.

It is through these varieties that traditional knowledge is passed between the generations, the food consumed by the families becomes safe and compatible with the socio-cultural reality of the region, the activities developed become more diversified and agrobiodiversity is preserved. This dissertation had as main objective to know the production of the creole varieties in the Taquaral and Santana Communities, in Orizona and Vianópolis, where were found six families producing creole seeds. Through local visits, participant observation and reports of peasants guardians interviewed, we can see that production places of the peasant groups have a great diversity of species if compared to the models of agricultural production adopted in that region and creole seeds contribute to this number of cultivated varieties. The identity and autonomy provided to their guardians of the creole seeds through their handling and use bring a sense of empowerment and uniqueness to the peasant groups and a possibility that it assists and recognized by society. / A produção de sementes, mudas e raças crioulas está presente na realidade das comunidades e dos grupos camponeses, garantindo a reprodução social e a continuidade das famílias no campo. É por meio dessas variedades que conhecimentos tradicionais são passados entre as gerações, o alimento consumido pelas famílias torna-se seguro e compatível com a realidade sociocultural da região, as atividades desenvolvidas tornam-se mais diversificadas e a agrobiodiversidade é preservada. Esta dissertação teve como objetivo principal conhecer a produção das variedades crioulas nas Comunidades Taquaral e Santana, em Orizona e Vianópolis, onde foram encontradas seis famílias produtoras de sementes crioulas. Por meio de visitas de campo, observação participante e relatos dos guardiões e guardiãs camponeses(sas) entrevistados(as), pode-se constatar que os locais de produção dos grupos camponeses possuem uma elevada diversidade de espécies, se comparadas aos modelos de produção agropecuária adotados na região e que as sementes crioulas contribuem para esse elevado número de espécies e variedades cultivadas. A identidade e autonomia proporcionadas aos guardiões das sementes crioulas através de seu manejo e uso trazem um sentido de empoderamento e singularidade aos grupos camponeses e a possibilidade de que sejam assistidos e reconhecidos pela sociedade.

Um experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda Experimental Rafael Fernandes, localizada no distrito de Alagoinha, zona rural de Mossoró-RN, no período de outubro de 2010 a fevereiro de 2011, com o objetivo de avaliar a viabilidade agroeconômica da aplicação da flor-de-seda (Calotropis procera) na cultura da beterraba em cultivo solteiro. O delineamento experimental usado foi o de blocos completos casualizados com os tratamentos arranjados em esquema fatorial 5 x 4, com três repetições. Os tratamentos consistiram da combinação de quatro quantidades de flor-de-seda (0; 0,7; 1,4; 2,1 e 2,8 kg m-2 de canteiro em base seca), com quatro períodos de incorporação (0; 14; 28 e 42 dias antes do plantio). A cultivar de beterraba plantada foi a Early Wonder. As características avaliadas foram: altura de plantas, rendimentos de massa fresca e seca da parte aérea, produtividade comercial de raízes e produtividade de massa seca de raízes. Também foram utilizados alguns indicadores econômicos, tais como: renda bruta e custo de produção, renda líquida, taxa de retorno e índice de lucratividade, as quais foram utilizadas para verificar a viabilidade econômica. Não se observou interação entre os fatores estudados. O melhor desempenho produtivo da beterraba foi observado na quantidade 2,3 kg m-2 de canteiro de flor-de-seda incorporada ao solo, com valor médio de 2,44 kg m-2 de canteiro de beterraba, com rentabilidade de liquida de 4.040,00 R$, taxa de retorno da ordem de 2,65 R$ e índice de lucratividade de 62,3%. Em relação aos períodos de incorporação, 0 dia foi o que promoveu a maior produtividade comercial de beterraba com valor médio de 2,2 kg m-2 de canteiro de beterraba, com rentabilidade liquida de 3.500,00 R$, taxa de retorno da ordem de 2,43 R$ e índice de lucratividade de 58,9%. O cultivo da beterraba adubado com flor-de-seda constitui em uma alternativa viável para o produtor. / - The use of spontaneous species of the caatinga represents an option of organic fertilizer for farmers who labor in the production of vegetables, been the silk flower, species of large occurrence in the study area, and it is found in various locations the northeast region of the country in different soil conditions. An experiment was conducted at the Experimental Farm Rafael Fernandes, located in Alagoinha district, a rural area of Mossoró-RN, from October 2010 to February 2011, in order to evaluate the agricultural economic viability of the application of the silk flower (Calotropis procera) in beet cultivation in monocrop. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with treatments arranged in a factorial 5 x 4 with three replications. The treatments were a combination of four amounts of silk flower (0, 0.7, 1.4, 2.1 and 2.8 kg m-2 site on a dry basis), with four periods of incorporation (0 , 14, 28 and 42 days before planting). The planted cultivar of beet was the Early Wonder. The characteristics evaluated were: plant height, fresh weight yields and shoot dry, commercial root yield and dry matter yield of roots. They were also used some economic indicators such as gross income and cost of production, net income, rate of return and profitability index, which were used to verify the economic viability. There was no interaction between treatments. The best beet production performance was observed in the amount 2.3 kg m-2 site of silk flower incorporated into the soil, with an average value of 2.44 kg m-2 beet site, with net profitability 4040.00 £, rate of return of around £ 2.65 and 62.3% profitability index. For periods of incorporation, 0 days was what promoted the highest commercial yields of beet with a mean value of 2.2 kg m-2 beet site, with net profit of R $ 3,500.00, rate of return order 2.43 R $ and 58.9% profitability index. The cultivation of beet fertilized with silk-flower constitutes a viable alternative to the producer.

Dois experimentos foram conduzidos na Fazenda Experimental Rafael Fernandes, no distrito de Alagoinha, zona rural de Mossoró-RN, com o objetivo de avaliar a viabilidade agroeconômica do consórcio de hortelã com coentro fertilizado com jitirana mais esterco bovino. O primeiro experimento foi conduzido no período de 11/08/2015 a 05/11/2015 sendo o segundo experimento no período de 27/11/2015 a 22/03/2016, no delineamento experimental de blocos completos casualizados com os tratamentos arranjados em esquema fatorial 2x4, com três repetições. O primeiro fator foi constituído do cultivo solteiro e consorciado da hortelã e do coentro, e o segundo fator constituído das diferentes doses da mistura de jitirana com esterco bovino (0,0; 1,0; 2,0 e 3,0 kg m-2 de canteiro). Para a cultura da hortelã utilizou-se a cultivar “Mentha piperita”. Para o coentro utilizou-se a cultivar “Verdão”. As características avaliadas para a cultura da hortelã foram as seguintes: altura da biomassa, massa fresca, número de molhos, massa seca, teor e rendimento de óleo. Para a cultura do coentro foram avaliadas as seguintes características: altura de planta, número de hastes planta-1, produtividade, número de molhos e massa seca. Também foram utilizados indicadores econômicos, tais como: razão de área equivalente (RAE), custo de produção, renda bruta, renda líquida, taxa de retorno e índice de lucratividade. A utilização de jitirana mais esterco bovino contribuiu para o aumento das características produtivas do consórcio nas duas épocas de cultivo, com número de molhos de hortelã de 17,6 e 5,8 nas doses de 3,0 e 2,2 kg m-2, respectivamente. Para a cultura do coentro, os valores foram de 16,5 e 15,3 molhos m-2 na dose de 3,0 kg m-2, respectivamente. A razão de área equivalente obtida nos dois experimentos foram de 1,72 e 1,78, respectivamente. A maior eficiência econômica do consórcio foi observada na primeira época de cultivo com a aplicação de 3,0 kg m-2 de jitirana mais esterco bovino em uma área de 100 m-2, com renda bruta de R$ 3.761,00; renda líquida de R$ 2.727,50; taxa de retorno de R$ 3,64 e índice de lucratividade de 72,52%. / The intercropping of plants comes as one of the most suitable methods for the practice of olericulture, in agroecological molds, with innumerable advantages in the environmental, productive and economic aspect. Two experiments were conducted at the Fazenda Experimental Rafael Fernandes, in the Alagoinha district, rural area of Mossoró-RN, with the goal of evaluating the agroeconomic viability of the mint intercropping with coriander fertilized with jitirana plus bovine manure. The first experiment was conducted in the period from 08/11/2015 to 05/11/2015 and the second experiment was in the period of 11/27/2015 to 03/22/2016, in a randomized complete block design with the treatments arranged in 2x4 factorial scheme, with three replicates. The evaluated characteristics for the mint crop were the following: biomass height, fresh mass, number of bunches, dry mass, oil content and yield. For the coriander culture the following characteristics were evaluated: plant height, number of stems plant-1, productivity, number of bunches and dry mass. Economic indicators were also used, such as equivalent area ratio (RAE), cost of production, gross income, net income, rate of return and profitability index. The use of jitirana plus bovine manure contributed to the increase of the productive characteristics of the intercropping in the two growing seasons, with a number of mint bunches of 17.6 and 5.8 at 3.0 and 2.2 kg m-2, respectively. For the coriander culture, the values were 16.5 and 15.3 m-2 sauces at the dose of 3.0 kg m-2, respectively. The equivalent area ratio obtained in the two experiments was 1.72 and 1.78, respectively. The highest economic efficiency of the intercropping was observed in the first growing season with the application of 3.0 kg m- 2 of jitirana plus bovine manure in an area of 100 m-2, with a gross income of R$ 3,761.00; net income of R$ 2,727.50; rate of return of R$ 3.64 and profitability index of 72.52%.

Dois experimentos foram conduzidos na Fazenda Experimental Rafael Fernandes, no distrito de Alagoinha, zona rural de Mossoró-RN, com o objetivo de avaliar o cultivo orgânico da hortelã sob diferentes doses de jitirana e épocas de colheita. O primeiro experimento foi conduzido no período de 13/08/2015 a 09/12/2015, e o segundo no período de 09/11/2015 a 10/12/2015, no delineamento experimental de blocos completos casualizados com os tratamentos arranjados em esquema fatorial 4 x 3, com três repetições. O primeiro fator foi constituído por quatro doses de jitirana (0,0; 0,5; 1,0 e 1,5 kg m-2 de canteiro em base seca) e o segundo fator, correspondendo a três épocas de colheita (30; 60 e 90 dias após o transplantio). Para a cultura da hortelã utilizou-se a cultivar “Mentha piperita”. As características avaliadas foram as seguintes: altura da biomassa, produção de biomassa, número de molhos, massa seca, teor e rendimento de óleo. Alguns indicadores econômicos foram observados, tais como: custo de produção, renda bruta, renda líquida, taxa de retorno e índice de lucratividade. Houve interação entre os fatores-tratamentos para o primeiro cultivo (produção, número de molhos e teor de óleo) e na rebrota da hortelã, nas características (rendimento e teor de óleo). No primeiro cultivo, houve acréscimo no número de molhos de hortelã em função dos fatorestratamentos com valores máximos de 1300; 3503 e 2651 unidades/100m2 nas épocas 30;60 e 90 dias, correspondendo as doses 1,3; 0,2 e 0,2 kg/m2, respectivamente. Na rebrota apresentou número médio de molhos de 2805 unidades/100 m2 (30 dias) e 2542 unidades/100 m2 (60 dias). A dose de 0 kg m2 de jitirana na época de colheita de 60 dias em primeiro cultivo, proporcionou rentabilidade liquida de R$ 3.458,00, taxa de retorno da ordem de R$ 3,26 e índice de lucratividade de 69,3%. Para a rebrota ocorreu rentabilidade liquida de R$ 2.753,00, taxa de retorno de 2,80 e índice de lucratividade de 64,2% na dose de 0 kg m-2 e época de colheita de 30 dias. The first experiment was conducted in the period from 08.11.2015 to 11.05.2015 and the second experiment in the period from 11.27.2015 to 22.03.2016, in a randomized complete block with treatments arranged in a 2x4 factorial design with three replications. The first factor consisted of monocropping and intercropping mint and coriander, and the second factor was the different doses of jitirana mixed with manure (0.0, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 kg m- 2 site).
