The experiment was carried out in a non-acclimatized and arched-covering greenhouse with its higher dimension towards West-East, which was covered with a polyethylene film, and is located at the UFV Agricultural Meteorology experimental area, Minas Gerais State. The NFT hydroponic system was used, which is a nutrient film technique of a nutritive solution. This technique consists of intermittently circulating a film flux of the nutritive solution through the plant root system. The lettuce cv. Grand Rapids was studied under three different levels of electric conductivity (EC) in the nutritive solution (0.5, 1.5 and 2.5 dS m^-1). Sowing was performed on January 15, and transplantation for the definitive crop benches on February 05, 2003, whereas the final harvest was accomplished at 28 days after transplanting. A total of 612.47°C accumulated (DDac) degree-days were observed at the end of the cropping. The objectives of this study were: a) to evaluate the adjustment of the growth models for lettuce cropped in the NFT hydroponic system at different levels of electric conductivity (EC); and b) to estimate the influence of the environment on EC in the nutritive solution for a typical summer day. The entirely randomized experimental design was used, with three treatments (EC) and two replicates (crop benches). Five samplings were made at 3-day intervals. The fresh and dry matters (leaf and stem) were weighed, and the measures of the leaf length and width and leaf area were taken. The growth of the lettuce was modeled by applying the expolineal, logistic and Gompertz models, and using the following independent variables: DAT (days after transplantation), DG (day- degrees) and effective day-degrees (EDD). For growth analysis, ECs showed significant statistical differences, relative to the final fresh matter (FM) and final dry matter (DM), among EC 0.5 dS m^-1 and ECs 1.5 and 2.5 dS m^-1, that is for FM the difference was 64.5 and 62.5%, while for DM it was 74.7 and 70.7%, respectively. Concerning to the leaf area (LA), there occurred a statistical difference among EC 0.5 dS m^-1 and the ECs 1.5 and 2.5 dS m^-1 , that is 85.6 and 71.7%, respectively. Therefore, when the lettuce was under EC 0.5 dS m^-1 it needed a lower leaf area for the DM production. For the leaf area index (LAI), the statistical difference occurred between CE 0.5 dS m^-1 and CE 2.5 dS m^-1 (71.70%). The growth models (expolineal, logistic and Gompertz) were able to simulate the dry matter accumulation after transplantation of the lettuce. The values of the determination coefficients were above 0.98 for the evaluated models. The leaf area index was well adjusted to the model proposed by GOUDRIANAM e MONTEITH (1990), using the day-degrees as the independent variables. The adjusted determination coefficients were 92.74, 91.70 and 99.68% for the treatments with ECs 0.5, 1.5 and 2.5 dS m^-1, respectively. The simulation results showed that EC undergoes oscillations of 30% at the hours with higher evapotranspiration. On the other hand, EC of the solution storage reservoir is gradually increased up to 55.0% from early in the morning to the end of the afternoon, which is a result from the crop evapotranspiration process. Thus, based on the growth analysis and EC variation, the parameters ranged according to the environmental conditions and are dependent on the climatic elements (temperature and radiation).

In this work, computational routines of estimation method of stiffness bearing of machine via a model updating process are optimized, using the sensitivity analysis. This method consists of using the eigenvalue sensitivity analysis, relating to the stiffness bearing variation of a rotor. The efficacy and the robustness of the method are analyzed through the theoretical simulations, as well as, based on the experimental data obtained of a test rotor with variable rotating speeds and adjustable bearing stiffness values. The mathematical model system is developed by the finite element method and the method of adjustment should converge employing an iterative process. The method of adjustment is based on the minimization of the difference between experimental eigenvalues and eigenvalues obtained via mathematical model from previously adopted stiffness bearing values. The analysis is made by using the rotor in different rotating speeds in order to check the influence of the gyroscopic effect, and in several conditions of the stiffness bearing values to analyze the method when applied on flexible and rigid rotors. The performance of the method is analyzed through theoretical and experimental results.

Studies aimed at knowledge flows in ungauged sites, are of great importance in hydrology, because almost always the hydrometric network does not cover all areas of interest. Therefore, it is necessary to use techniques that allow the transfer of local information monitored for ungauged sites. In this context, this paper proposes mathematical models to determine the remaining flow in the Amazon, using the regionalization method of flow. The methodology was based on the minimum flow Q95% obtained from the flow duration curve plotted based on the Weibull equation, in addition to morphoclimatic characteristics of river basins, such as the drainage area (A), average annual precipitation (P) and the river length (L). The data used for regionalization belong to six hydrologically homogeneous groups analyzed in the study. With this information, and in order to define which explanatory variables (A, P and L) would be part of the models to be applied, the multi-colinearity test was performed. Thus, taking the result of the previous test, the mathematical models of regionalization of the minimum reference flow Q95% were constructed through multiple regression models (linear, potential, exponential and logarithmic). In the first analysis, the performance values (mean absolute percentage errors, determination coefficients, adjusted coefficient of determination) were unsatisfactory. For this reason, it was chosen to divide the hydrologically homogeneous groups according to the interval with the same order of magnitude of areas and flows. In this way, the results obtained in the adjustment of the models presented a better performance, which can be verified by the average absolute error below 13.78% in all groups. The models that obtained the best performance were selected for the validation, observing in this way, that the linear model was the one that presented the best results for nine of the groups and subgroups tested, standing out also the potential and logarithmic models, that simulated six of the subgroups each. Thus, from the regional equations that presented good results, both in the adjustment and in the validation, we can obtain the flow rate Q95%, in a basin without flow data according to the homogeneous regions or groups determined in the study, having as data of The physical and climatic characteristics of this basin.

This study was conducted with the objective of provide information dendrometric and growth for paricá in Paragominas region, Pará, through stem analysis complete. To attain the purpose, trees have been cut down thirties seven years old and these discs were obtained along the trunk, the positions of 0.1 m, 0.3 m, 0.7 m, 1.3 m and from this point of meter in meter, untill the first bifurcation. After collecting the discs, these were air dried and polished with a sequence of sandpaper for easy viewing of growth rings. With the polished surface of the discs were traced four rays perpendicular discs and with the assist of a magnifier rings were marked growth. After the delimitation of the rings, discs were scanned and the Image-Pro Express 6.0 was performed to measure the width of the rings from pith to bark. Discs in the height of 1.3 m above the ground, was made synchronization and microscopic characterization of annual growth rings. Logistic models were fitted volumetric, models taper, models form factor models average and diameter growth in structure prediction and projection. The models has been evaluated using measures the residual standard error precision absolute and percentage coefficient of determination, graphic residue analysis and statistics bias, mean absolute differences and standard deviation of the absolute differences. For the analysis of growth rings, can observe that this zone is demarcated fibrous. It was noted for the master series own paricá ring width favorable growth in the first two years. In commercial volumetric models showed that the model is Schumacher & Hall more accurate. In evaluating the taper functions in diameter model Demaerschalk was indicated that more precise results and height models Demaerschalk Ormerod showed similar results.
