INTERCHANGEABILITY OF THE I‐STAT POINT OF CARE ANALYZER WITH CENTRAL LABORATORY TESTING IN AN EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT SETTING

Little, Colin 10 April 2015 (has links)
A Thesis submitted to The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Medicine. / Background and Significance: The i‐STAT point of care blood analyzer is a handheld device used for a variety of laboratory analyses in medical settings. Much research has been performed to evaluate its validity, but it has not been exhaustively tested in real‐world emergency department settings, despite its increasingly popular use in such settings. Methods: We retrospectively examined medical records at the Maricopa Integrated Health Systems Emergency Department to find 100 instances between February 2014 and September 2014 in which a patient had electrolyte testing performed on both the i‐STAT and in the central laboratory within a 60 minute timeframe. These data were examined using variance of means and Bland‐Altman graphing for equivalency. Results: We set the clinical equivalence threshold for each lab to be 5% of the mean normal value. That is, if the i‐STAT differed from central lab by less than 5% of the middle of the normal range (137‐145 for sodium, 5% of which is 7) then we consider them to be clinically equivalent. At this level we were unable to show clinical equivalence. In additional, all electrolytes tested showed small but significant bias between the i‐STAT and the central laboratory. Re‐examination of the data excluding all measurements more than 15 minutes apart showed similar findings. Conclusions: At this time we cannot show equivalency between the i‐STAT device and the central laboratory when used under real‐life emergency department conditions. More research is needed is to support or refute these findings.

Design and implementation of an analyzer for a timed pi-calculus

RAHMAN, MD REZOANOOR 29 September 2010 (has links)
In this thesis, we design and implement an analysis tool for a language called kiltera which is a timed extension of pi-calculus. kiltera allows the modeling of concurrent, mobile, real-time and distributed systems. Our analyzer takes a kiltera model as input and performs analyses such as detection of deadlock states, stable states etc. To improve performance, the analyzer uses some transformation techniques to simplify the input kiltera model without changing its behavior. We provide a detailed description of the design and implementation of the analyzer and discuss some performance optimizations. Finally, we present some case studies to illustrate the capabilities of our analyzer. / Thesis (Master, Computing) -- Queen's University, 2010-09-29 12:02:41.361

CAN signal quality analysis and development of the signal processing on a FPGA

Uhlin, Jakob January 2014 (has links)
This master thesis report is a part of the thesis project conducted by Jakob Uhlin at Syntronic R R and D, Stockholm Sweden. The objective of this thesis is to develop a way to process the signal being sent on a CAN-bus and subsequently analyse its quality and its source in the network. A process of gathering appropriate theories and data has been done, parallel with the development of the analyzer module. The intelligence is implemented in an FPGA through the hardware description language VHDL. In this way, the algorithms can process the data in a real-time domain. The central findings and conclusions have been that is possible to analyze the signal quality of a CAN message properly on a FPGA.

Real-Time Live RTT Analyzer

Pemmaraju\, Venkata Santosh January 2010 (has links)
Due to rapid increasing in complexity of Internet, quantifying the performance of protocol helps in assessing the application behavior with respect to network performance. TCP is an important protocol that is used by some important applications on Internet such as HTTP, FTP and soon. To analyze TCP, Round trip times is one of the metric used. As it is a internal metric of TCP used to find the retransmission timeout of sent packet. Round trip times means measuring elapsed time between the sent packet and recieving its acknowledgment that covers the sequence number of the sent packet(i.e., from source to destination and vice-a-versa). Round trip times is a metric that is recognised by IETF as Quality of Service parameter. We design a tool here that will calculate the round trip times for each stream. This round trip times helps us to understand the protocol behavior. In this document, we discuss the design, implementation issues carried out while developing the tool. This tool is capable of reading offline as well as online streams and helps us to analyze the statistics obtained from collected round trip times of each stream. / 91-40-24023214

Electronics for a Versatile and Robust Retarding Potential Analyzer for Nano-Satellite Platforms

Fanelli, Lucy Katharine 02 July 2014 (has links)
A retarding potential analyzer (RPA) is an instrument that, when mounted on a satellite in low-Earth orbit, makes in-situ measurements of ion density, temperature and speed relative to the satellite frame. The instrument works by changing the voltage on one of a set of grids and measuring a corresponding current generated by ions flowing through the grid, generating a function of current vs. voltage called an I-V curve. Traditionally, the size and power requirements of retarding potential analyzers has limited their use to larger satellites. In this thesis, the electrical design and basic testing of a retarding potential analyzer for use on resource- limited cubesat platforms are described. The mechanical design of the retarding potential analyzer is first described, and the requirements of the electrical design are presented. The electrical requirements are based on both the characteristics of the ionosphereic flight environment, and on the size and power requirements typical of the small cubesat platforms for which the instrument is intended. The electrical hardware is then described in detail. The digital design is reviewed as well, including the instrument's operating modes, command and data structure, and timing scheme. Test data showing the basic functionality of the instrument are then presented. Bench tests validate the design by confirming its ability to control voltages and measure small currents. End-to-end tests were also performed in a vacuum chamber to mimic the ionospheric environment. These data are presented to show the ability of the RPA to meet or exceed its design specifications. / Master of Science

UTTR BEST TELEMETRY SOURCE SELECTOR

Rigley, Kenneth H., Wheelwright, David H., Fowers, Brandt H. 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 23-26, 2000 / Town & Country Hotel and Conference Center, San Diego, California / The UTTR (Utah Test & Training Range) offers the largest over land test and training airspace in the continental United States. It provides excellent telemetry data processing capability through a number of TM (telemetry) sites. Selecting the best source of telemetry data for optimum coverage from these many sites can be very involved and challenging for ground station personnel. Computer-based best source selection automates this process, thereby increasing accuracy and efficiency. This paper discusses the capabilities of the BTSS (Best Telemetry Source Selector), its background, design and development, applications, and future at the UTTR.

Analýza reálných XML dotazů / Analysis of Real-World XML Queries

Hlísta, Peter January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this thesis was to gather and analyze the real-world XQuery programs. The data gathering process is usually performed using the crawler. Part of the thesis was to analyze different crawlers and to choose the most suitable one. The crawler was then modified, so it would not overload servers, gather the right data and be able to pause. Before main gathering two problems had to be solved - where to start the gathering and how long it will take. After the data were gathered, they were cleaned, corrected and validated. The subject of the analysis was usage of the XQuery language and its grammar symbols. We also analyzed the XML documents used by XQuery programs and outputs from the XQuery programs. The main contribution of this thesis is the amount of the gathered data (in comparison with other sources), as well as gathering XML documents which are being queried, using Analyzer for analyzing the real-world XQuery programs and running this real-world XQuery programs over gathered XML documents.
