Title: The ankle joint injury prevention of floorball players Objectives: The main objective of this work is to determine what prevention of ankle joint and if ever floorball players use. The research is focused on players from first League and Extraleague in Czech Republic. Furthermore, what charakter of ankle joint injury is the most experienced by players , if there is a link between the injury of ankle joint and positions which are players playing, or a link between the injury of ankle joint with the length and frequency of trainings. The work deals also with the link between origins of injuries on rebound or swing leg. Methods: In the work has been used quantitative type of research using questionnaires. The results were statistically processed by programmes Microsoft Excel and Statistical Package for Social Science 17.0 (SPSS). Results: The research found that the incidence of ankle joint injuries by floorball players is high. The most common character of ankle joint injury is stretched ligaments. The link between injuries and the length and frequency of trainings, or the link between posts which players play and injuries can't be rejected. The injury of ankle joint occurs more frequently on rebound leg. Furthermore, it was found that many players are using some kind of prevention, but very...

Kineziterapijos poveikis blauzdinio pėdos sąnario funkcijos kitimui po abiejų kulkšnių osteosintezės / The effect of physiotherapy to the alternation of function of ankle joint after the osteosynthesis of bimalleolarKuzmickaitė, Donata 18 June 2008 (has links)
Tiek kasdieninėje veikloje, tiek profesionaliame sporte patiriamos traumos tiesiogiai įtakoja žmogaus gyvenimo kokybę. Dažniausiai pasitaikantys apatinių galūnių lūžiai – kulkšnies srityje (Jensen, 1998): nuo 107 iki 184 šimtui tūkstančių žmonių per metus (Lin, 2006). Juos dažniausiai patiria 25–35 metų vyrai ir vyresnės nei 50 metų moterys (Staa, 2001). Gydant abiejų kulkšnių kaulų lūžius – atstatomi kaulų lūžgaliai, stiprinami pažeisti raumenys, sausgyslės ir raiščiai, taip pat mokoma taisyklingos eisenos bei laikysenos.
Tyrimo metodika. Skausmas... [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Injuries sustained both in daily activity or in professional sports make direct influence on the quality of life of human being. Most often fractures of the lower limbs occur in the area of the ankle (Jensen, 1998): ankle fractures are found from 107 to 184 per one hundred thousand people annually. These fractures are most frequent among men of 25–35 years old and women over 50 years old (Staa, 2001). During the treatment of bimalleolar fractures of the ankle not only injured muscles, tendons and ligaments are fortified, fractures of bones are reconstituted but also the patients are taught how to keep good pace and posture.
Methods. The analysis was performed at PI Kaunas Red Cross clinical hospital in 2006–2008. 30 persons were examined after bimalleolar osteosynthesis: n=22 women (73,3 percent.) and n=8 men (26,7 percent.), the average age being 47±5 years old. The patients were divided into two groups: research and control. Physiotherapy under the supervision of physiotherapist was applied to the research group together with massages while they were in the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation (for 24 days) as well. The control group participations were trained and instructed to performe the excercises at home, on their own. Patients of both groups were tested before the physiotherapy was applied, after 12 days, after 24 days and after 8 months. During the analysis the following measurements were taken: plantarflexion, dorsiflexion, inversion, eversion, shin... [to full text]

Kineziterapijos programų efektyvumas po čiurnos sąnario pakeitimo operacijos / The efficiency of the physiotherapy programs after ankle joint endoprosthesis operationBumblauskytė, Dalia 16 August 2007 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The surgical treatment methods of ankle joints (adjusting tibial osteotomy, arthrodesis of intertarsal joint, arthroplasty) were used before there appears an endoprosthesis for replacement of ankle joint. Even so, after the surgical rehabilitation there are still a partial insufficiency of ankle joint function and ache problems. Foreign and Lithuanian scientific press write about it equally. The purpose of this research work is to evaluate the physiotherapy influence on the rehabilitation efficiency. The second objective is to compare how the physiotherapy governed by relaxation techniques on soft issues and cryotherapy have had influence on the results.
The research was done in Palanga rehabilitation hospital. The patients who have had the implanted ankle joint replacements were engaged in this research work. All patients had surgeries in Center for Joint Replacement (CJR) in Klaipeda hospital. It was done by the same orthopaedist-traumatologist. A STAR prosthesis were implanted into every patient. In first group there are 12 patients who have been applied physiotherapy. The second group consists of 12 patients as well who were treated by physiotherapy governed by relaxation techniques on soft tissues and cryotherapy. The measurements were done twice; arriving at rehabilitation hospital and leaving the hospital. The results of both groups have been studied and also they have been carefully compared.
Conclusion. It is certain that after the rehab treatment the functional... [to full text]

Dynamic foot and ankle characteristics in functionally relevant gait performance in those with and without a pathologyOrendurff, Michael S. January 2012 (has links)
The human ankle joint is hypothesized to be a primary controller of support, propulsion and steering during locomotion. A series of experiments were initiated to understand ankle plantarflexor muscle kinematics and kinetics in normal and pathological gait, and to define the specific locomotor demands of community ambulation. Additional experiments were then conducted to quantify the effects of walking speed on plantar pressures and centre of mass motion, to illuminate the role of the ankle in acceleration and deceleration during walking, and to examine how humans alter their kinematics and kinetics to turn. The results of these experiments provide support for the hypothesis that the ankle joint is important in a wide range of locomotor movements beyond walking straight ahead at constant speed. The ankle appears instrumental in adapting to different walking speeds, altering both the pressures on specific regions the plantar surface and the motion of the centre of mass across a range of speeds. The ankle also has subtle kinetic changes that appear to modulate acceleration and deceleration during single limb stance. For turning, the ankle plays a role during slowing into the turn and accelerating after the turn, but mediolateral shears appear to alter the trajectory of the body to negotiate a corner and the external hip rotators appear to rotate the trunk toward the new direction of travel. This work extends our understanding of the ankle in functionally relevant gait activities beyond simple straight-ahead walking at constant speed. The published papers included in this supporting statement have been cited by 180 different subsequent peerreviewed publications, suggesting that this work has had some impact on the field.

Analyses of foot strikes among predominantly Swedish cohorts of runners during a full- and half marathonWolthon, Alexander January 2020 (has links)
Foot strike type (FST) is associated with performance and running-related injuries. Previous studies have examined the prevalence proportion of FST among predominantly American and Asian cohorts. However, no study has investigated this among a predominantly Swedish cohort. Aim: To examine and compare the prevalence proportions of FST between running races, distance and performance, among a predominantly Swedish cohort of runners. Method: FST was recorded in 100 frames per second (fps), at three different points of measure for both the Stockholm Marathon (1.2, 25, 42 km) and the Gothenburg Half-Marathon (7.5, 15, 20 km), based on 2071 individuals per point of measure. FST was assessed using frame-by-frame analysis. Results: 12’426 observations of FST were analyzed. The overall prevalence proportions of FST was 92.3% (n=11’465), 4.5% (n=559), and 3.2% (n=402), for RFS, MFS, and FFS respectively, and differed between the half-marathon and marathon (p < .001, φc = 0.069), with the latter having higher proportion of RFS. FST was associated with distance, with MFS and FFS being more common at shorter distances compared with RFS (p < .001, df = 2; H = 71.524). Stratifying the data by race type revealed that the association between FST and distance within the races disappeared within the half-marathon race, but remained for the marathon. Lastly, FST was associated with performance (p < .001), and this association remained for both the half-marathon (p < .001) and marathon (p < .001) after stratifying by race type. Conclusion: The results are consistent with previous studies on other populations, and add to the body of literature showing that RFS is the most common FST, and that FST is associated with distance and performance, for full- and half-marathon races.

Effects of Ankle Support on Time To Stabilization of Subjects with Stable AnklesMartin, Raquel Elise 01 January 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine if prophylactic ankle tape and/or ankle braces improve dynamic stability in TTS measure. All subjects were healthy and had no prior history of ankle injuries. Data collection consisted of each subject performing a single leg jump-landing with ankle tape, ankle brace, combination of the two, and control (no tape or brace) conditions. Dynamic stability was assessed with time to stabilization force plate measure. Significant plane by ankle tape interaction (p=0.045) was found. No significant plane by ankle tape by ankle brace interaction (p=0.637), no significant ankle tape by ankle brace interaction (p=0.483), or plane by ankle brace interaction (p=0.697) were found. A notable finding was that subjects took longer to stabilize in the anterior/posterior direction than medial/lateral direction. In conclusion ankle tape, ankle brace, and the combination of ankle tape and ankle brace did not statistically improve dynamic stability in healthy ankles.
