This thesis addresses the question of how the Cambodia Tourist Police prohibition of local custodians has impacted Khmer prayer rituals inside Ta Prohm Complex (Angkor Archaeological Park, Cambodia). For centuries, people of Khmer ethnicity have engaged in religious activities inside Ta Prohm. Local Khmers have functioned as custodians of spaces of religious activity there. Custodians decorate and clothe statues, and place incense, offering plates, and other religious paraphernalia in spaces of religious activity. Observations demonstrate that Khmer prayer rituals occur in spaces that contain religious paraphernalia. The prohibition reduced the number of spaces that contain religious paraphernalia in Ta Prohm. This thesis is the first research to closely examine contemporary religious activities at Angkor. The thesis discusses how the prohibition may impact future Khmer religious activities inside Ta Prohm, and presents a potential solution for the reduced functionality of Ta Prohm as a Khmer temple that resulted from the prohibition. / Department of Anthropology

Remiantis komparatyvistiniu, aprašomuoju analitiniu, sintezės, apibendrinimo metodais darbe analizuojamos archeologinio paveldo pažinimo sklaidos ir gaivinimo galimybės ir perspektyvos Lietuvoje. Sąlygiškai darbą galima skirtyti į dvi dalis: pirmojoje nagrinėjami teoriniai aspektai, o antrojoje pateikiama praktinių archeologinio paveldo animavimo įžvalgų. Siekiant akcentuoti visuomenės įsitraukimą ir aktyvų dalyvavimą archeologinio paveldo apsaugoje, darbe kaip paveldo pažinimo sklaidos ir gaivinimo sinonimas vartojamas animavimo terminas. Tyrimo objektu pasirinkus archeologinį paveldą, jo santykį su visuomene, siekiama aptarti archeologinio paveldo specifiką, išryškinti vertes ir reikšmę šiuolaikinės visuomenės tvariai raidai bei išskirti metodus, padedančius optimaliai įgyvendinti interaktyvumo programą ir skatinančius užmegzti dialogą su visuomene. Šiuos reikalavimus atitinka eksperimentinė archeologija. Todėl darbe apžvelgiamos jos praktikavimo ištakos, kategorijos ir sklaida Lietuvoje bei išskiriamos eksperimento metodo taikymo perspektyvos archeologijoje. [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Using a set of general methods which include comparative analysis and synthesis of scientific literature this paper discusses issues of recognition, promotion and rehabilitation of archaeological heritage, the perspectives and opportunities of its use in Lithuania. Basically this work can be divided into two main parts: the one with theoretical analysis of various approaches and the other orientated towards practical recommendations and suggestions of possible animation work in regional parks. Seeking to define the vital importance of involvement and participation of society in the process of conservation, the overall term animation is adopted and used as synonym for recognition, promotion and rehabilitation concept. Considering the relationship between archaeological heritage and society as the main subject of this research, the specifics of archaeological heritage and importance of sustainable development to modern society is reviewed in the work. One of the tasks is to separate out the methods which provide optimal conditions of interactive communication and stimulate the engagement in dialogue with communities. Architectonic and urbanistic concept The designed area is placed in the rural zone of the village Mikulčice and in the rural zone of the village Kopčany. This area has a big potencial in its cultural and historical values as well as in the natural ones. The connection of the pure and very original nature with a very strong historical value gives the region its very own authentic character and amplifies the experience of the visitor. This reagion was declared as a cultural heritage in 1962 and yet it is nominated to the World heritage list UNESCO. Its rich history and archeological discoveries gave an idea to built here a congress center. The congress center is situated in the natural enviroment where it presents the ruined churches and also the archeological discoveries. The goal of this project is to attract attention of the public. To enriche the knowledge of the public and to connect both sides of the river Morava by a bridge. The idea is to preserve the woods and meadows in the horizontal like region and to enter the landscape with a similar composition. The building itself is situated to the north of the ground plans of the churches, in historical path of the authentic waterway around the stronghold site. Its shape is inspired by a boat which reflects the waterway and the heritage of st.Cyril and st.Method who passed on to us the teachings of the Church. This is symbolised as large boats carrying the people to the everlasting salvation. The topic of the „path“ reminds us of our pilgrimage through the neverending sea of time. The values which our ancestors passed on to us and which we will pass on to our children. The bridge which overcomes this building can be a notional connection beetween the history and the present days. These are undoubtedly linked together and we should not forget it.

No entanto, seu esforço central é a busca de um modelo de tutela efetiva e compartilhada para o patrimônio arqueológico existente no município de Serranópolis, região sudoeste do estado de Goiás, Brasil. Como proposta para a proteção dos sítios arqueológicos do nominado município, foi elaborado um Plano de Medidas a ser implantado pelo governo municipal, com a colaboração efetiva da comunidade e a participação dos entes públicos estadual e federal, cada um no escopo de suas competências. O presente trabalho foi desenvolvido dentro do Programa de Doutorado em Arqueologia do Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia da Universidade de São Paulo - MAE/USP, na Linha de Pesquisa \"Arqueologia e Ambiente\". / The analysis of legal mechanisms that rule, currently, the Brazilian archeology guides this work. However, its central effort is the searching for an effective and shared guardianship model to the archaeological heritage in Serranópolis city, located in the southwest region of the state of Goiás, Brazil. As a proposal for the protection of archaeological sites in the said city, it was elaborated a Archaeological Cultural Park Project to be implemented by the Serranópolis\' municipal government, with active cooperation of the community and the participation of state and federal governments, each one in their own competences. Η παρούσα μεταπτυχιακή διατριβή έχει ως στόχο τη διερεύνηση ζητημάτων διατήρησης και ανάδειξης πολιτιστικών αγαθών, καθώς και το θέμα της ένταξής τους στον σύγχρονο τρόπο ζωής. Έτσι, διαρθρώνεται σε τρία μέρη. Το πρώτο αφορά στο θεσμικό πλαίσιο, κάτω από το οποίο λαμβάνουν χώρα οι όποιες προσπάθειες στο ζήτημα της διαφύλαξης, αλλά και σε θεωρητικές ή τεχνικές προσεγγίσεις και παράγοντες που σχετίζονται με την ανάδειξη. Το δεύτερο μέρος εκθέτει την πολεοδομική και ιστορική εξέλιξη του χώρου της Πάτρας, εντοπίζοντας την περισσότερο πάσχουσα και υποβαθμισμένη περιοχή στο κέντρο της πόλης, τον ενδιάμεσο χώρο της Άνω και της Κάτω πόλης, ενώ στο τρίτο μέρος γίνεται προσπάθεια υλοποίησης σε μορφή σχεδιαστικών προτάσεων, στην συγκεκριμένη περιοχή, όλων εκείνων των πορισμάτων που διεξήχθησαν από το πρώτο μέρος. / The present postgraduate thesis aims at the investigation of maintenance and distinction of cultural goods, as well as the subject of integration in the modern way of life. Thus, it is structured in three parts. First part concerns in the institutional frame, which has to do with the subjects of safeguarding, but also in theoretical or technical approaches and factors that are related with the distinction. In the second part is exposed the urban and historical development of Patras. It is also located the region in the centre of city which suffers and is downgraded the most, and for this thesis will be called as the intermediary space of Upper and Down city of Patras, while in the third part takes place an effort of effectuation of a scheme, considered all the conclusions that were carried out by the first part, by design proposals, for the particular region.

Urban-architectural studies, outlining appropriate solution of the national cultural heritage, creates conditions for the creation of dignified archaeological park.
