Maquetes: o estado da arte / Models: the state of the art

Vanderlei Rotelli 24 May 2017 (has links)
This study intends to talk about the models of presentation, which are carried out by specialized professionals, for the Real Estate Market. A survey was made on how this market currently works in Brazil, studying methodologies, materials and machinery used. For that, technical visits were made to three of the main companies specialized in this sector, photographically documenting the forms of work, the most used materials and which machines were found there. It was also analyzed one of the most recent and revolutionary innovations in this area that is Digital Fabrication (FD), which, in addition to directly influencing the model construction sector, is changing the architects\' and designers\' working methodology since it makes thinner the line between the digital drawing and the completion of the physical model. A technical visit was made to one of the twelve FabLabs Livres SP, open to all interested in the city of São Paulo, where the available machinery and their possibilities of use were evaluated, as well as the access to this new technology provided by the City Hall Municipality of São Paulo. These laboratories are open to the public and offer courses on how to design and use this new technology. In addition, they offer direct access to the machines.

Orientador: Silvia Aparecida Mikami Gonçalves Pina / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Engenharia Civil, Arquitetura e Urbanismo / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-17T19:16:54Z (GMT). The model, as well as the drawing, plays a crucial role in developing of architecture and urban design process. The model as a reduced scale physical representation of what is being designed is an instrument that goes beyond the drawing, which includes the advantage of the possibility of manipulating the third dimension view. lt is important whether designing a building or urban complex. In the creative process it is essential to study through a mass model that provides the volume for further volumetric analysis as a whole and its surroundings impact. This kind of model feeds the architect's thinking and showed to be of great importance in the design process. Recent advances in the design process have occurred in a top-down approach, ignoring the requirements for both abstraction and detail involved in a process of simultaneous development. At this stage the model is used to test global ideas and thus enrich the process, interacting with other graphical languages. The hypothesis of this paper assumes that the studies through the conception, physical and handicraft models are fundamental to the of architect's professional constitution, once it practice the ability of hand-eye, being important instrument to stimulate the sense, the spatial perception and tectonics. It contributes to sharpening of the creative process in the initial phase of the project. The main goal of this research is to discover how the conception and physical models can be a creative support in the early stages of architect's education. To support this aim, model's workshops are performed and a research-action is developed along the Architecture and Urban Design students in the early stages of the educational process. The analyses of the results of this work point general guidelines towards the use of the physical and handcraft models as an pedagogical instrument that stimulates the creativity contributing to develop the designs of the Architecture and Urban Designers. Also it showed to contribute to systematization and awareness of the design process though conception model studies / Mestrado / Arquitetura e Construção / Mestre em Engenharia Civil

A solid modeling program for designers

Zeigler, Patrick Scott January 1988 (has links)
The personal computer is rapidly finding its way into the architectural working environment, at this time however it is used mostly as a drafting tool. This thesis is an investigation into programming that would allow the computer to become a design tool. The issues that are dealt with in this thesis include an easy to use user interface that will not inhibit the design process, and develop a system that will allow design changes and additions to a model in a three dimensional sketch like ability. Three dimensional models of paper, clay, wood and other materials have been used to create designs, and aid the designer in making decisions. This type of medium is difficult to make changes, and because of the scale of such materials it becomes difficult to work on interior spaces, thus more attention is usually placed on the exterior design. With the use of the computer these limitations may be eliminated, and the designer may create a design from any perspective or view point. / Master of Architecture

Towards design-build architectural education and practice : exploring lessons from educational design-build projects

Delport, Hermie Elizabeth January 2016 (has links)
Thesis (DTech (Architectural Technology))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2016. / This research explores design-build projects in architectural education. The design-build studio is an alternative to the conventional theory-oriented studio. In design-build projects students both design and build real buildings. Internationally, design-build projects have increased rapidly in architectural programmes over the past decade. Literature suggests that design-build projects are relevant for architectural education, but that there is a definite need for more theoretical and critical exploration. Design-build projects in the context of this study are defined as socially responsive, inhabitable, full-scale investigations. The value of this pedagogical construct for educators, students, architectural practice and society in general was an underpinning theme guiding this exploration. Design-build projects are located on the boundary between theory and practice. This research provides a view into my journey across this boundary, immersing myself in both the theoretical and practical. Principles of the designbuild process and design research mapped the research path. The research process commenced with the initiation of and active participation in a number of design-build constructions. Through critical reflection on the construction experiences and the literature, specific pedagogical and practice implications were explored. Cultural historical activity theory provided me with a sense of theoretical direction in this journey. Collaboration as a pedagogical tool and the possibility of exposing students to alternative practice possibilities were foregrounded as being uniquely situated within the design-build project. The value of this research is the contribution it makes to the current international call for a clearer understanding of the pedagogical and practice merit of design-build projects.

Virtual exploratory model: proposal of a selling tool for the residential property market.

Mendes, Nilton Paulo Raimundo 05 September 2012 (has links)
Examining the business environment of the real estate sector, it can be verified the large number of architectural mockups that today are part of real estate points-of-sale. Mockups are fragile, expensive, take considerable time to be made and have a short life span, as they are discarded when the sales booth is decommissioned. In the sales booths, it is also possible to find full size furnished mock-up flats, with even higher costs. In this environment, the MVE (Exploratory Virtual Model) becomes important for the construction and real estate industries, whose markets are increasingly competitive, where there is a real need to reduce costs, to decrease in execution times and to increase product quality. As it is an important topic of scientific research, this paper proposes the MVE development for selling residential real estate property. The MVE was modeled with a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) / BIM (Building Information Modeling) tool which proved adequate to meet requirements raised in the survey. The MVE was evaluated through case studies in real estate ventures with brokers and customers. Results show that MVE can be developed with much lower cost and in shorter time than the architectural mockup or the mock-up flat and that it has very well accepted both by real estate sales professionals and clients.

Ranking System for IoT Industry Platform

Mukherjee, Somshree January 2016 (has links)
The Internet of Things (IoT) has seen a huge growth spurt in the last few years which has resulted in the need for more standardised IoT technology. Because of this, numerous IoT platforms have sprung up that offer a variety of features and use different technologies which may not necessarily be compliant with each other or with other technologies. Companies that wish to enter theIoT market are in constant need to find the most suitable IoT platform for their business and have a certain set of requirements that need to be fulfilled by the IoT platforms in order for the application to be fully functional. The problem that this thesis project is trying to address is a standardised procedure for selecting the IoT platforms. The project aims to suggest a list of requirements derived from the available IoT architecture models, that must be followed by IoT applications in general, and a subset of these requirements may be specified by the companies as essentials for their application. This thesis project also aims at development of a Web platform to automate this process, by listing the requirements on this website and allowing companies to input their choices, and accordingly show them the list of IoT platforms that comply with their input requirements. A simple Weighted Sum Model is used to rank the search result in order to prioritise the IoT platforms in order of the features that they provide. This thesis project also infers the best IoT architectural model available based on a comparative study of three major IoT architectures with respect to the requirements proposed. Hence the project concludes that this Web platform will ease the process of searching for the right IoT platform andthe companies can therefore make an informed decision about the kind of IoT platform that they should use, thereby reducing their time spent on market research and hence their time-to-market.
