The Study of Schoolbag Management ,Learning Attitudes and Life Management of Elementary School PupilsChe-Hua, Ou 08 February 2006 (has links)
This study aims at elaborating the realities of elementary school pupils¡¦ lives in terms of three aspects as follows: schoolbag management, learning attitudes and life management. It also analyses the interrelations among these three variables of cognitions of elementary school students.
This study uses Personal Basic Data Form, Schoolbag Management Survey, Learning Attitudes Inventory and Life Management Ability Inventory as instruments. It adopts the statistical programs such as Descriptive-Statistics, t-test, One-Way ANOVA and product-moment correlation to evaluate the inter realationships of elementary school students¡¦ schoolbag management , learning attitudes and life management ability. This study shows the following results BMI average value of elementary school students, the boys¡¦average value is higher than that of girls¡¦. The average sleeping time is more than nine hours for both boys and girls. The transportation of students is mainly by car or scooter. The average weight of school boys¡¦schoolbag is 3.3 kilograms and that 3.2 kilograms for girls.
School students of different grades get high scores on schoolbag management, And girls are better than boys on schoolbag management. On the whole, the school students get higher scores in terms of learning attitudes. As for the other aspects, ranked from high to low, are shown as follows: environment attitudes, learning strategies, learning motivation, and class participation.
Moreover, the life management can be ranked, from high to low, as law-abiding, clothing management, emotional management, health, social relationship and money management.
For the background variations of grade, sleeping hour, vehicle of going to school , BMI, cram school attending and school performance matter little. The schoolbag management, learning attitudes and life management have strong positive relationship.

A study of scientific story integrated in science science curriculumWang, Yuh-Chao 07 August 2003 (has links)
The objective of this research is to discuss the scientific story intergrated in science curriculum about the students¡¦ attitude towards science and conceptions of the nature of science .
This research made use of the Static-group comparison design method for use in quasi-experimental research. The first step was to collect the related scientific background and a scientists¡¦ information, and then create a fictitious story according to the situation in an experimental teaching process, and finally issue a questionnaire in order to understand the students¡¦ experience and conviction. Our research samples were 4 grade 5 classes from a school in Kaohsiung, selected as our test group. Our control groups were 5 classes chosen from another school in Kaohsiung City. We made use of both quantitative and qualitative analysis to collect the data and analyze the information, and the research included the original Questionnaire on the nature of science, Questionnaire on learning science, and an interview information sheet. The questionnaire on the nature of science was analyzed using descriptive statistics and the t-test to obtain a quantitative analysis. The questionnaire on learning science uses percentiles and inductive analysis to obtain a quantitative analysis, with an interview providing qualitative information.
The research results indicated that the students enjoyed the fictitious story curriculum, and especially enjoyed hearing about the scientists¡¦ background, as the students believed the stories could assist them in their learning. The students¡¦ attitudes were found to be positive, as the stories were thought to assist them in their learning. Thus, the students were highly interested in the curriculum, though the attitude towards the image of the scientists was not as positive, as was their attitude towards science career planning. On the point of the nature of science, students in the test group were modern minded, and the test group achieved more than the control group. On the quantity and quality of the students¡¦ knowledge, there were significant differences between the test group and the control group.
Therefore, the recommendation of this research is that teachers, if interested in this teaching approach, should attempt to collect information on the scientists and their backgrounds. Also, the history of science should be taught to training teachers during their teaching training program. This will assist the teacher in becoming an effective aid towards the students learning of science.

Visitor perceptions of alternative transportation systems and intelligent transportation systems in national parksDilworth, Virginia Ann 30 September 2004 (has links)
This dissertation examines the potential use of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and alternative transportation systems (ATS) in national parks. Visitors at two of the national park units in California, Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GOGA) and Sequoia and Kings Canyons National Parks (SEKI), were surveyed during May and July 2002 regarding their attitudes and intentions toward a variety of transportation and travel planning items (including ITS and ATS tools). There were three principal areas of inquiry: attitude toward transportation and travel planning tools, likelihood of using transportation and travel planning tools, and the difference between intentions for using tools before arriving at the study parks and while at the study parks.
The results revealed several key findings. First, there was substantial support for the relationship between attitudes and intentions. Furthermore, both experience with technology and attitude toward technology were predictive of intention to use technology in the study parks. Third, there was a significant difference between the attitudes and intentions of visitors to an urban park (GOGA) and visitors to a rural park (SEKI). In particular, GOGA respondents perceived alternative transportation (e.g. shuttle, public bus, park and bike) as more appropriate than did SEKI respondents. Fourth, while some support was found for a relationship between one of the ITS goals, safety, and attitude toward ITS tools in national parks, there was no support for the relationship between other ITS and ATS goals (e.g. reduction of congestion) and attitudes toward or intent to use these tools in national parks. Finally, there was a significant difference between the types of tools respondents would use before arriving at and while at the study parks. Technology such as the Internet was more likely to be used before arriving at the parks. Following from diffusion of innovations theory, changes in perception toward these tools, as well as possible changes in the likelihood that they will be used in national parks, may be monitored by future research.

Understanding recreationists' attitudes toward and preferences for natural resources conservationOh, Chi-Ok 01 November 2005 (has links)
With ever-increasing demands on scarce natural resources, understanding public attitudes toward natural resources is crucial to accomplishing various management goals for resource conservation and the provision of resource services. Despite numerous studies of public attitudes toward resource conservation since Dunlap and Heffernan
1975), there is a limited understanding of the driving forces underlying recreationists?? activities that contribute to their conservation attitudes and behaviors. Thus, this dissertation investigated the connected causal effects of how recreational anglers develop their conservation attitudes and preferences toward natural resources in light of within- and between-group diversity. Three independent studies, focusing on both recreation specialization and recreationists?? conservation attitudes, were conducted with different research themes. Two different methods, namely, a stated preference discrete choice method and structural equation modeling, were used. The first study examined anglers?? holistic preferences for trade-offs of various management rules and regulations using specialization segmentation. Study results supported that high specialization anglers reported a greater appreciation of and support for resource management practices such as harvest regulations that seek to reduce adverse user impacts than their less specialized counterparts. The second study explored the fostering process of conservation attitudes and behaviors with recreation specialization and other motivational and attitudinal variables. Given that empirical analyses supported the theoretical propositions in the constructed model, recreation specialization and other accrued motivational and attitudinal concepts provided insight to understanding the formation pattern of conservation attitudes and behaviors. The third study examined how the fostering process of attitudes toward resource conservation differed by race and ethnicity. Results indicated that anglers, regardless of their racial and ethnic origins, showed similar patterns of fostering attitudes toward and preferences for resource conservation. As they participated in fishing activity on a regular basis, heterogeneous development in conservation attitudes and preferences were likely to be minimal and be better explained by the framework of recreation specialization. Finally, a summary and synthesis of the findings, agenda for future research, and the management implications were discussed.

The Effects of the Life Education Program on the Life Attitudes of Alternative School StudentsHuang, Yuan-ting 23 July 2009 (has links)
The main goal of this research is to understand the effects of life education courses on the life attitudes of the students in the alternative school via deep interview and implementing the purpose in the life attitudes test.
This research examines the same group before and after teaching, and focuses on 47 students in the southern alternative school to implement the 4-unit, 12 lessons life education courses. In the part of quantitative research, survey of the life attitudes of the students in the life attitudes test are used as the commenting materials. The information received is allotted and calculated according to the frequency and statistically analyzed according to paired t test. In the part of qualitative research, the researcher determined to select 6 students as the interviewees, and conduct the interviews of semi-structure to proceed deep interviews with the assistance of ¡§word-for-word interview draft¡¨, ¡§interview analysis records¡¨, ¡§activity sheets¡¨, and the ¡§feedback sheets of the whole courses¡¨ to comment on the effects of the life education courses on the life attitudes of alternative school students.
The outcomes of the research are as follows:
1. The life attitudes of the students in the alternative school are measured that tends to be medium, and forward.
2. The life education to the alternative school students ¡§the death attitudes¡¨ the part has in the life attitudes meter forward affects immediate effects, and continuous effects sustainable all around in four weeks ago. There is the interview analysis result's change : to change of the death subject view ¡] avoidance, traditional taboo ¡÷ to confront, attempt to forget¡^, change to self-inflicted injury, the suicide attitudes¡]to attempt, commits suicide ¡÷ no more, try hard for the goal¡^.
3. Although the life education does not have the immediate effects on the ¡§love and caring¡¨ of the chart of the life attitudes of the students in the alternative school, it has the delayed effects: the change of interview analysis outcome is improve the relationship between parents and children ¡]estrangement ¡÷ identification¡^, change of the significant others¡¦ relations¡]besides friends and parents ¡÷ increased teachers¡^.
4. On the overall life attitudes didn¡¦t have immediate or delayed effects, the main teaching results appearance in ¡§the death attitudes¡¨ and ¡§love and caring¡¨.
According to the above-mentioned research, we propose concrete suggestions of the alternative school, the midway education and students that dropout from school, the impetus life education implements, to domestic relative researches and practice workers as the reference.

Bakomliggande faktorer till sjuksköterskors attityder kring dödshjälp : En litteraturöversikt / Underlying factors to nurses attitudes towards euthanasia : A literature reviewGunnarsson, Emily, Sandberg, Josefina, Millegård, Anna January 2010 (has links)
Studien påvisar att desjuksköterskor som arbetade inom intensiv/akut vård har en mer positiv attityd än desjuksköterskor som arbetade inom palliativ vård.</p> / <p>Background: Euthanasia means different methods that are used to create an easy andpeaceful death. The Netherlands, Luxembourg and certain States in USA have a law thatpermits euthanasia. Euthanasia is still illegal in the most countries in the world and there arefew studies done around nurses' attitudes around this. Previous research demonstrates that theattitudes around death help are divided. Different studies show very various result dependingon where each study is done and which nurses that participate.Aim: To explore the underlying factors to nurses attitudes towards euthanasia.Method: A literature review has been used in this study on the basis of Friberg (2008)regulations. 13 articles has been used and these have been separate in one part which isarticles with a qualitative method and one with quantitative method. The words that has beenused in the seeking process are nurse, euthanasia and attitudes and the seeking is done in thedatabase CINAHL.Result: The result shows that nurses attitudes divides a lot from each other, it is verydepending on underlying factors. It showes that one of the most important factor to i nurseshas a negative or positive attitude to death help is religion. The nurses that are religious had amore negative attitude while agnostics or atheists where more positive. Intolerable suffering, great pain and the fact that medicines could not improve the patient's conditions are importantfactors for the nurses positive attitude to euthanasia. Misfeasance was also as a factor to whysome nurses had a negative attitude to euthanasia. The study reflects that the nurses that wereworking within intensive/the emergency treatment had a more positive attitude than the nursesthat was working within palliative the care.</p>
