Utilização de resíduos de argamassa, lodo de anodização de alumínio e cal para a formação de um novo compósito / Use of argamassa residues, anodization sludge of aluminum and lime for the formation of a new composite

Os resíduos decorrentes da construção civil apresentam, na maioria das vezes, a predominância de materiais inertes e passíveis de reaproveitamento, que não tem em grande parte uma finalidade. Esta dissertação apresenta uma abordagem sobre destinação correta dos resíduos, utilizando resíduos de argamassa, lodo de anodização de alumínio e cal para a formação de um novo compósito. O maior objetivo desta dissertação é caracterizar os materiais como componentes de novos compósitos para a construção civil, além de identificar novas composições (ao todo são 13 composições) atendendo as normas e leis existentes, analisar os processos físico-químicos, determinar as propriedades mecânicas e adaptar tecnologias existentes no processo de fabricação, além de destinar sem danos ambientais todas as matérias primas. Para análises físico-químicas e mecânicas foram estudados os seguintes parâmetros: resistência uniaxial média, absorção de água, densidade aparente, retração linear, microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV), espectrometria por energia dispersiva, difração de raios-X e espectrometria de fluorescência de raios-X (FRX). Dentre as 13 composições foram escolhidas as composições 4 e 11 para analisar mais o comportamento físico-químico. A resistência à compressão média uniaxial, aos 90 dias da composição 11 alcançou 9,18 MPa, com coeficiente de absorção de água de 12%, a retração foi de 1,53% e a densidade ao longo de 180 dias de cura variou apenas 4%. Os estudos físico-químicos identificaram a presença de Carbono, Sódio, Magnésio, Alumínio, Silício e Cálcio na composição 11, e através do MEV e FRX foi possível identificar que se trata de uma estrutura amorfa. Através desses estudos propõe-se alternativas que sejam revertidas em vantagens sociais e ambientais, tais como a fabricação de blocos vazados de concreto simples para alvenaria sem função estrutural, blocos cerâmicos para alvenaria de vedação, tijolos maciços para a alvenaria em relação a categoria A, entre outros. / Waste from the construction, have in most cases the predominance of inerts materials and insusceptible reuse, which has a few purpose. This dissertation presents an approach on the correct disposal of this waste, using mortar residue, anodizing aluminum sludge and lime to form a new composite. The main objective of this project is to characterize the materials as components of new composites for the construction industry, and identify new compositions (they are 13 compositions) meet the existing standards and laws, analyze the physical and chemical processes, determine the mechanical properties and adapting existing technologies in the manufacturing process, beyond to appropriate correctly without environmental damage for all the materials. For physical-chemical and mechanical analysis, the following parameters were studied: resistance average uniaxial, water absorption, apparent density, linear retraction, environment-scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive x-ray, x-ray diffraction and x-ray fluorescence. Between the 13 compositions, chosen compositions 4 and 11 to analyze the behavior. The average uniaxial compressive strength at 90 days composition 11 reached 9,18 MPa with 12% water absorption coefficient, the shrinkage was 1,53% and the density over 180 days varied only 4%. The physic-chemical studies have identified the presence of Carbon, Sodium, Magnesium, Aluminum, Silicon and Calcium in the composition 11 and about scanning electron microscopy and XRF identified that it is an amorphous structure. Through these studies, it was possible to propose alternatives that are reversed in social and environmental benefits, such as the manufacture of simple concrete hollow blocks brickwork without structural function, ceramic blocks for sealing brickworks and solid bricks for brickworks in relation to category A, among others.

Desenvolvimento de novos compósitos destinado a materiais de construção civil, com base em resíduos industriais de solo de decapagem, lodo e sedimentos de dragagem do porto de Antonina e cal virgem comum

Pesquisa realizada para analisar o compósito de solo de decapagem (SD) considerado resíduos nas jazidas de minérios, em especial de calcário do município de Almirante Tamandaré, da Região Metropolitana de Curitiba neste trabalho, juntamente com o lodo e sedimentos de dragagem marinha do Porto de Antonina, no Estado do Paraná, e o uso cal virgem comum, como aglomerante pertencente à região de Almirante Tamandaré. Foram utilizados vários teores dos materiais para a determinação de 12 (doze) compósitos. Para o solo de decapagem os teores variaram entre 30% a 60%, para o material de dragagem os teores variaram entre 20% a 50% e o teor de aglomerante de cal virgem comum variou entre 15% a 30%. Foram moldadas idades de cura de 3 dias, 7, 14, 28, 60, 90, 180 e 365 dias. O aumento da resistência à compressão durante a cura foi proveniente das reações químicas das partículas sólidas das matérias-primas em ambiente alcalino gerando novas formações amorfas. Também foram analisados os materiais nos métodos de MEV com EDS, DRX e FRX, para a obtenção da composição química e formação estrutural dos novos compósitos. Todos os resultados da resistência à compressão uniaxial, com 28 dias de cura ao meio ambiente das 12 (doze) composições, obtiveram resultados médios de 7,7 MPa, atendendo satisfatoriamente a norma NBR 7170:1983 que determina a resistência à compressão igual ou acima de 4,0 MPa, destinada à produção de materiais de construção para alvenaria de vedação, sem fins estruturais. Comprovando o uso desses compósitos em materiais de construção civil, principalmente para os segmentos de blocos ou tijolos de vedações, sem fins estruturais, sem a necessidade de cozimento ou empreendimento de energia calorífica para a cura das peças, contribuindo para o meio ambiente e a sustentabilidade ambiental. / Research conducted to analyze the composite with pickling soil (SD), considered waste in mineral deposits, especially of limestone in the city of Almirante Tamandaré, the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba in this work, along with the sludge and marine dredging sediment from the Port of Antonina, State of Paraná, and use the common quicklime as binder belonging to the same region of Almirante Tamandaré. Various amounts of materials were used for the determination of twelve (12) composites. For the stripping soil content ranged from 30% and 60%, for the dredging material contents ranged from 20% and 50% and binder common quicklime content ranged from 15% to 30%. Were molded curing ages of 3 days, 7, 14, 28, 60, 90, 180 and 365 days. The increase in compressive strength during curing was derived from the chemical reactions of solid particles of raw materials in alkaline environment generating the new amorphous formations. Also the raw materials were analyzed in the SEM with EDS method, DRX and FRX, to obtain the chemical composition and formation structures of the new composite. All results of the uniaxial compressive strength, with 28 days of curing the environment of the twelve (12) compositions, obtained average results of 7.7 MPa, satisfactorily meeting the NBR 7170:1983 standard that determines the resistance to compression equal or above 4.0 MPa, for the production of building materials for sealing masonry without structural purposes. Proving the use of these composites in construction materials, especially for thread block or brick fences without structural purposes, without the need for cooking or heating energy project for the healing of parts, contributing to the environment and sustainability Environmental.

Medidas de concentração de radônio proveniente de argamassas de cimento portland, gesso e fosfogesso / Measurements of radon concentration from portland cement, gypsum and phosphogypsum mortars

CAPES / O cimento Portland é bastante empregado na construção civil e apresenta em sua composição o gesso natural. Para minimizar custos é possível substituir parte do gesso desta composição pelo fosfogesso. O fosfogesso é um resíduo gerado a partir da produção dos fertilizantes e é constituído, essencialmente, por cálcio dihidratado e algumas impurezas, como fluoretos, metais em geral e radionuclídeos. Atualmente, toneladas de fosfogesso são armazenadas à céu aberto próximo das indústrias de fertilizantes, causando a contaminação do meio ambiente. O elemento 226Ra, presente nesses materiais, ao passar pela série de decaimento radioativo, transforma-se em gás 222Rn. Esse gás, ao ser inalado pode decair dentro dos pulmões e neste caso, os seus produtos depositam-se nas paredes pulmonares ocasionando exposição à radiação, podendo ser um potencial causador de câncer pulmonar. Dessa forma, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi medir os níveis de concentração de 222Rn em corpos de prova de argamassa de cimento Portland, de gesso e de fosfogesso provenientes do Estado do Paraná, além de caracterizar o material e estimar a concentração de radônio em um ambiente de convívio humano hipotético construído com paredes destes materiais. Para as medidas de atividade do 222Rn foi utilizado o monitor AlphaGUARD (Saphymo GmbH). A análise qualitativa e quantitativa foi realizada por meio da espectrometria gama e da EDXRF com tubos de alvos de Au e Ag (AMPTEK), e com alvo de Mo (ARTAX) e os ensaios mecânicos com equipamento de raios X (Gilardoni) e com a prensa mecânica (EMIC). Os valores médios da atividade do radônio no ar obtidos pelo estudo dos materiais armazenados no recipiente foram de 854 ± 23 Bq/m3, 60,0 ± 7,2 Bq/m3 e 52,9 ± 5,4 Bq/m3 para argamassas de cimento Portland, de gesso e de fosfogesso, respectivamente. Estes resultados extrapolados para o ambiente hipotético de 36 m3 com paredes revestidas com os materiais foram de 3366 ± 91 Bq/m3, 237 ± 28 Bq/m3 e 208 ± 21 Bq/m3 para argamassas de cimento Portland, gesso e fosfogesso. Considerando o limite de 300 Bq/m3 estabelecido pela ICRP, observa-se que, para o revestimento de cimento Portland a exposição não é segura e requer alguns procedimentos de mitigação específicos. A partir da espectrometria gama foi calculado o valor do rádio equivalente (Raeq) para as argamassas de cimento Portland, gesso e fosfogesso que resultou em 78,2 ± 0,9 Bq/kg; 58,2 ± 0,9 Bq/kg e 68,2 ± 0,9 Bq/kg, respectivamente. Os valores do Raeq das amostras encontram-se inferiores ao limite máximo de 370 Bq/kg. Em relação a análise qualitativa e quantitativa das amostras por EDXRF, os resultados permitiram identificar e quantificar os elementos que compõe as amostras como o Ca, S, Fe, entre outros. / Portland cement being very common construction material has in its composition the natural gypsum. To decrease the costs of manufacturing, the cement industry is substituting the gypsum in its composition by small quantities of phosphogypsum, which is the residue generated by the production of fertilizers and consists essentially of calcium dihydrate and some impurities, such as fluoride, metals in general, and radionuclides. Currently, tons of phosphogypsum are stored in the open air near the fertilizer industries, causing contamination of the environment. The 226 Ra present in these materials, when undergoes radioactive decay, produces the 222Rn gas. This radioactive gas, when inhaled together with its decay products deposited in the lungs, produces the exposure to radiation and can be a potential cause of lung cancer. Thus, the objective of this study was to measure the concentration levels of 222Rn from cylindrical samples of Portland cement, gypsum and phosphogypsum mortar from the state of Paraná, as well as characterizer the material and estimate the radon concentration in an environment of hypothetical dwelling with walls covered by such materials. Experimental setup of 222Rn activity measurements was based on AlphaGUARD detector (Saphymo GmbH). The qualitative and quantitative analysis was performed by gamma spectrometry and EDXRF with Au and Ag targets tubes (AMPTEK), and Mo target (ARTAX) and mechanical testing with x- ray equipment (Gilardoni) and the mechanical press (EMIC). Obtained average values of radon activity from studied materials in the air of containers were of 854 ± 23 Bq/m3, 60,0 ± 7,2 Bq/m3 e 52,9 ± 5,4 Bq/m3 for Portland cement, gypsum and phosphogypsum mortar, respectively. These results extrapolated into the volume of hypothetical dwelling of 36 m3 with the walls covered by such materials were of 3366 ± 91 Bq/m3, 237 ± 28 Bq/m3 e 208 ± 21 Bq/m3for Portland cement, gypsum and phosphogypsum mortar, respectively. Considering the limit of 300 Bq/m3 established by the ICRP, it could be concluded that the use of Portland cement plaster in dwellings is not secure and requires some specific mitigation procedure. Using the results of gamma spectrometry there were calculated the values of radium equivalent activity concentrations (Raeq) for Portland cement, gypsum and phosphogypsum mortar, which were obtained equal to 78,2 ± 0,9 Bq/kg; 58,2 ± 0,9 Bq/kg e 68,2 ± 0,9 Bq/kg, respectively. All values of radium equivalent activity concentrations for studied samples are below the maximum level of 370 Bq/kg. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of EDXRF spectra obtained with studied mortar samples allowed to evaluate quantitate and the elements that constitute the material such as Ca, S, Fe, and others.

In den letzten Jahren gewinnt der Leichtbau im Bauwesen im Zuge der Ressourceneinsparung wieder stärker an Bedeutung, denn ohne eine deutliche Steigerung der Effizienz ist zukunfts-fähiges Bauen und Wohnen nur schwer zu bewerkstelligen. Optimiertes Bauen, im Sinne der Errichtung und Unterhaltung von Bauwerken mit geringem Einsatz an Material, Energie und Fläche über den gesamten Lebenszyklus eines Gebäudes hinweg, bedarf des Leichtbaus in punkto Material, Struktur und Technologie. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird ein wissenschaftlicher Überblick zum aktuellen Stand der eigenen Forschungen in Bezug auf funktionsintegrativen Leichtbau im Bauwesen gegeben sowie erweiterte Methoden und Ansätze abgeleitet, die eine Konzeption, Bemessung und Erprobung von neuartigen Hochleistungs-Tragstrukturen in Leichtbauweise gestatten. Dabei steht die Entwicklung leistungs-starker und zugleich multifunktionaler Werkstoffkombinatio-nen und belastungsgerecht dimensionierter Strukturkomponenten unter dem Aspekt der Gewichtsminimalität in Material und Konstruktion im Fokus. Ein breit gefächertes Eigen-schaftsprofil für \"maßgeschneiderte\" Leichtbauanwendungen besitzen textilverstärkte Ver-bundbauteile, denn sowohl die Fadenarchitektur als auch die Matrix können in weiten Berei-chen variiert und an die im Bauwesen vorliegenden komplexen Anforderungen angepasst werden. In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden hierzu vor allem Methoden und Lösungen anhand von Beispielen zu: multifunktionalen Faser-Kunststoff-Verbunden (FKV), funktionsintegrier-ten faserverstärkten mineralischen Tragelemente und Verbundstrukturen in textilbewehrter Beton-GFK-Hybridbauweise betrachtet. Von zentraler Bedeutung ist dabei die Schaffung von materialtechnischen, konstruktiven und technologischen Grundlagen entlang der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette – von der Leichtbauidee über Demonstrator und Referenzobjekt bis hin zur technologischen Umsetzung zur Überführung der Forschungsergebnisse in die Praxis. / In the last few years, lightweight construction in the building sector has gained more and more importance in the course of resource saving. Without a significant increase in efficiency, future-oriented construction and resource-conserving living is difficult to achieve. Optimized building, in the sense of the erection and maintenance of buildings with little use of material, energy and surface over the entire life time cycle of a building, requires lightweight design in terms of material, structure and technology. In this thesis, a scientific overview of the current state of research on function-integrative light-weight construction in architecture is presented. Furthermore, advanced methods and research approaches were developed and applied, that allows the design, dimensioning and testing of novel high-performance supporting structures in lightweight design. The focus is on the development of high-performance, multi-functional material combinations and load-adapted structural elements, under the aspect of weight minimization in material and construction. Textile-reinforced composites have a broad range of material properties for optimized \"tailor-made\" lightweight design applications, since the thread architecture as well as the matrix can be varied within wide ranges and can adapted to the complex requirements in the building industry. Within the scope of this thesis, methods and solutions are examined in the field of: multifunc-tional fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP), function-integrated fiber-reinforced composites with mineral matrix (TRC) and textile-reinforced hybrid composites (BetoTexG: combination of TRC and FRP). In this connection the creation of material, structural and technological foundations along the entire value chain is of central importance: From the lightweight design idea to the demonstrator and reference object, to the technological implementation for the transfer of the research results into practice.

Comportement au jeune âge de bétons formulés à base de ciment au laitier de haut-fourneau en condition de déformations libre et restreinte / Behaviour of slag cement concretes at early age under free and restrained deformation condition

A l’heure actuelle où la préservation de notre environnement est primordiale, les constructions en béton font intervenir de plus en plus des ciments comprenant des ajouts minéraux, tels que le laitier, les cendres volantes… En effet, la production des ciments composés permet de réduire le dégagement des gaz à effets de serre et de réutiliser des déchets industriels. Les bétons formulés à base de ciment au laitier de haut-fourneau (CEM III) sont également largement utilisés suite à leur bonne résistance aux réactions alcali-silices, à la diffusion des chlorures et aux attaques sulfatiques… Cependant, certains ouvrages construits avec ce type matériau ont présenté au jeune âge des problèmes de fissuration liés à la restriction de leurs déformations différées, telles que le retrait endogène, thermique et de dessiccation. Suite à cette observation, des essais préliminaires ont été réalisés au laboratoire du service BATir de l’Université Libre de Bruxelles. Ils ont mis en avant plusieurs caractéristiques du comportement de ces matériaux :<p><p>1. Lors du suivi du retrait restreint à l’aide de l’essai à l’anneau en condition de dessiccation, le béton formulé à base de ciment au laitier de haut-fourneau a fissuré bien avant le béton formulé à base de ciment Portland.<p>2. Le retrait total en condition libre du béton formulé à base de ciment au laitier de haut-fourneau est nettement supérieur à celui du béton formulé à base de ciment Portland. Cette différence de comportement est principalement due à l’accroissement rapide et plus élevé du retrait endogène des bétons formulés à base de ciment au laitier de haut-fourneau.<p><p>Au vu de ces résultats expérimentaux, il a semblé intéressant de déterminer quel était l’impact de la déformation endogène des bétons formulés à base de ciments au laitier de haut-fourneau (CEM III) sur leur sensibilité à la fissuration. Afin de répondre à cette question, les déformations différées (retrait endogène, fluage propre en compression et en traction) au jeune âge de trois compositions de béton avec différentes teneurs en laitier (0, 42 et 71%) ont été étudiées expérimentalement en conditions libre et restreinte. Cependant, le suivi du retrait endogène libre et restreint a nécessité le développement de plusieurs dispositifs expérimentaux limitant au maximum les artefacts de mesure, tels que la TSTM (Temperature Stress Testing Machine). De plus, l’interprétation de ces résultats expérimentaux a également nécessité une caractérisation du comportement de ces matériaux à l’échelle macro- et microscopique. <p><p>Finalement, cette étude a montré que malgré une déformation endogène plus élevée, les bétons formulés à base de ciment au laitier de haut-fourneau fissurent après le béton formulé à base de ciment Portland. Ce comportement est dû à :<p>-l’impact du laitier sur la réaction d’hydratation du matériau cimentaire ;<p>-la présence d’une expansion de la matrice cimentaire des bétons formulés à base de ciment au laitier de haut-fourneau au jeune âge qui retarde l’apparition des contraintes de traction au sein du matériau ;<p>-la plus grande capacité de ces matériaux cimentaires à relaxer les contraintes de traction/<p>Today, the use of concretes with mineral additions (fly ash, slag) for civil engineering structures is spreading worldwide. Indeed, the production of blended cements is more respectful of the environment than the production of Portland cement, because it allows reducing greenhouse gas emissions and using industrial wastes. Slag cement concretes are also largely used for their good resistance to alkali-silica reactions, sulphate attacks and chloride diffusion. However, some of constructions built with slag cement concretes have exhibited cracking at early age due to their restrained deformations, such as thermal, autogenous and drying shrinkage. Following these observations, a preliminary experimental study was realized in the laboratory of BATir Department at ULB. It revealed several characteristics of the behaviour of slag cement concretes:<p>1. The study of restrained deformations under drying conditions by means of ring tests showed that the slag cement concretes seem more prone to crack than the Portland cement concretes;<p>2. The total free shrinkage for slag cement concrete is clearly larger than for Portland cement concrete. This difference of behaviour is mainly due to the fast and large increase in the autogenous deformation of the slag cement concrete.<p><p>Following these experimental results, the effect of the autogenous deformation on the cracking sensibility of slag cement concretes seemed interesting to investigate. Their deformations (autogenous deformation, compressive and tensile basic creep) have been studied at early age for three concretes characterized by different slag contents (0, 42 and 71%) under free and restrained conditions. For monitoring free and restrained autogenous deformations, several test rigs aimed at limiting artefacts were designed, like the TSTM (Temperature Stress Testing Machine). Moreover, the behaviour of these concretes was also characterized by a study at a macro- and microstructure scale.<p><p>Finally, this study shows that the slag cement concretes under sealed and fully restrained conditions crack later than the Portland cement concrete, despite the fact that they are characterized by the largest autogenous deformation. This behaviour is due to:<p>- the slag effect on the hydration reaction of cementitious material;<p>- the cement matrix expansion of the slag cement concretes at early age which delays the occurrence of tensile stresses inside the material;<p>- the largest capacity of this concrete to relax tensile stresses.<p> / Doctorat en Sciences de l'ingénieur / info:eu-repo/semantics/nonPublished

The history and types of the objects with low energy performance are described. There are listed elements of constructionally energetic concept with low energy performance and overview of building materials used for their construction. In the practical part a selected building was tested for energy performance by legislation. Then two structural material solutions on selected detached house are compared by using a simulation program.

The theoretical part describes the methods for calculating the energy performance of buildings. The experimental part of the work focuses on quantifying the heat consumption of specific buildings in terms of thermal stability and it is later compared with the results calculated in accordance with the applicable technical standards.

This thesis deals with the theoretical part of the creation, distribution and recycling of construction and demolition waste. Subsequently covers made from these recycled construction and demolition waste and its potential application in structural layers of the pavement. In the practical part of the thesis deals with monitoring the overall properties of nine asphalt mixtures with different proportion of recycled concrete aggregate and asphalt binder, which are designed and intended for bed asphalt pavement. The recycled concrete aggregate and asphalt are performed various laboratory tests, the results are subjected to a comparison with the relevant standards and TP 210. The conclusion is made price comparisons of asphalt mixtures.

This graduation thesis is aimed to presentation heat isolation materials for the floor constructions. The experimental part is devoted physical - mechanical properties suggested very light concretes with the cement. The main part of the thesis is devoted to form of the transit and putting of the individual heat isolation materials. In the end are suggested structures of the floor constructions with the respect to their properties and price.
