O propósito desta dissertação consiste em analisar o livro Antonio, de Beatriz Bracher, à luz do trágico. A história é uma saga familiar transgeracional que registra a decadência de uma família da burguesia paulistana durante o século XX. A hipótese que orienta a análise é a de que algo inconciliável se manifesta na vida de um de seus membros que ao viajar, rumo ao sertão mineiro, sucumbe às próprias escolhas, marcando negativamente a vida de todos à sua volta. O sujeito contemporâneo vive a falência das grandes narrativas do século XX, como a frustração das ideias libertárias da década de 60 e 70 e, de alguma maneira, sente-se desamparado, perdido diante de um futuro incerto. Esse cenário de crise existencial seria fértil para ressurgimento da tragédia por meio de traços ou escombros trágicos na ficção contemporânea. Por último, a partir do conceito de literatura política, pretende-se verificar se Antonio concentra questões relevantes sobre o Brasil contemporâneo sem apelar para visão conciliadora no âmbito da ficção, ou seja, problematizando a modernidade à brasileira ou as suas ideias modernizantes e modernizadoras / The purpose of this study it to analyze the book Antonio, by Beatriz Bracher, on the tragic aspect. The story is a transgenerational family saga about the decline of a bourgeois family in São Paulo during the 20th century. The hypothesis that guides this analysis is that something irreconcilable happens in the life of one of its members, while he is traveling to a very arid region in the state of Minas Gerais, he has succumbed to his own choices changing negatively the lives of everyone around him. The contemporary individual lives the ruin of the great narratives of the 20th century, such as the frustration of the libertarian ideas of the 60s and 70s, and somehow feels helpless and lost about an uncertain future. This existential crisis scenario could be fertile for the revival of the tragedy with vestige or \"tragic wreckage\" in contemporary fiction. Finally, from the concept of political literature, this study aims to verify if Antonio concentrates relevant questions about the contemporary Brazil without resorting to a conciliatory view within fiction, which is, questioning Brazilian modernity - or its modernizing ideas

A presente dissertação consiste em uma tentativa de apreender a figuração da elite a partir do ponto de vista que organiza o romance Azul e dura, de Beatriz Bracher. Procuramos determinar a especificidade do olhar da narradora-protagonista em sua relação com o contexto histórico e social contemporâneo com o intuito de definir de que maneira esse olhar capta aspectos significativos da experiência histórica atual. A hipótese que orienta a análise é a de que o romance escrito a partir do ponto de vista de um representante da mais alta elite, e calcado em seu percurso de sofrimento psíquico-social, produz o efeito de cooptação do leitor. Tentamos investigar os limites da formalização que, ao não alcançar o distanciamento, convida o leitor a se colar ao ponto de vista da narradora marcado pelo sentimento de impotência social e pela acomodação ao estado de coisas vigente. / The dissertation that follows aims at analyzing the figuration of the elite from the point of view that organizes the novel Azul e dura, by Beatriz Bracher. We seek to determine the specificity of the perspective of the narrator, who is the protagonist of the narrative, in its relation to the social and economical contemporary context, in order to demonstrate how the point of view of the narrative grasps relevant aspects of the current historical experience. Our hypothesis is that the novel written from the perspective of a representative of our highest elite, and centered in her trajectory of social and psychic suffering, produces the effect of co-optation of the reader. We tried to investigate the limits of the formalization that, without achieving distancing effect, invites the reader to partake the narrators viewpoint characterized by the feeling of social impotence and conformism to the current state of things.

A estrutura narrativa do romance é formada de um conjunto de relatos, em que três narradores alternam suas versões, estabelecendo um jogo de diferentes perspectivas sobre o mesmo conflito familiar. Benjamim conduz a trama narrativa a fim de conhecer a sua identidade, mas diante da ausência de pistas materiais pauta-se nos relatos de três narradores suspeitos, cabendo a ele e também ao leitor avaliar a veracidade das versões sobre a sua história familiar vinculada às transformações sócio-históricas do Brasil. O romance é, assim, a história da derrocada de uma família paulistana de classe média/alta de origem burguesa atrelada ao período de efervescente modernização dos anos de 1950, perpassando pelos desdobramentos do golpe militar e o processo de redemocratização. Em vista desses elementos, o propósito é apreender como os narradores arquitetam suas versões para retratar diluição familiar, bem como apontar os conflitos sócio-históricos determinantes que culminaram na ditadura militar. / The present dissertation is intended to present an analysis of the configuration of the narrator of the novel Antonio (2007), by Beatriz Bracher. The narrative structure of the novel is formed from a set of stories, in which three narrators alternate their versions, setting up a game of different perspectives about the same family conflict. Benjamin conducts the narrative plot to know his identity, but in the absence of material clues regulate himself on the reports of three suspect narrators, befitting to him and also to the reader to evaluate the veracity of the versions about his family history linked to the socio-historical transformations of Brazil. The novel is, thus, the story of the collapse of a upper middle class family of bourgeois origin attached to the period of effervescent modernization of the 1950s, passing by the unfolding of the military coup and the process of redemocratization. In view of these elements, the purpose is to understand how the narrators plan their versions to describe family dilution, as well as to indicate the determinants socio-historical conflicts that culminated in the military dictatorship.
