There is a rapidly increasing need for companies to work sustainably. A key driver to decrease environmental impact is to raise sustainability awareness among employees. One way to increase sustainability awareness among employees may be through the use of digital tools. This study aims to explore different ways digital tools may increase environmental awareness among employees at Ericsson’s headquarters in Kista, Sweden. Interviews were conducted with experts and a brainstorming session with employees was moderated. The study resulted in a creation of three design concepts for increasing sustainability awareness among employees. The three proposed sustainable initiatives involve using digitalization: to save food waste, to create a green competition among colleagues and to form a community to connect people on Kista campus. / Det finns ett ökat behov för företag att arbeta hållbart. En nyckelfaktor för att minska miljöpåverkan är att öka anställdas medvetenhet om hållbarhet. Ett sätt för att öka medvetenhet om hållbarhet kan vara genom nyttjandet av digitala verktyg. Den här studien utforskade olika sätt som digitala verktyg skulle kunna öka anställdas medvetenhet om miljöpåverkan. Studien utfördes med anställda på företaget Ericssons campus i Kista, Sverige. Intervjuer med experter och idégenerering med anställda utfördes. Studien resulterade i tre digitala designkoncept för att öka anställdas medvetenhet om hållbarhet. De tre koncepten nyttjade digitalisering med: minskandet av matavfall, ökandet av engagemang genom en hållbarhetstävling och ett sätt för att skapa gemenskap kring hållbarhet på Kista campus.

Truly Accomplished: Effectiveness Of A Measurement And Feedback Approach To Lifestyle ChangeDixon, Natalie Wright 01 January 2012 (has links)
Individuals’ personal improvement efforts are pervasive and the benefits associated with successful self-improvement are both tangible (e.g., healthier lifestyles, more intimate relationships) and intangible (e.g., personal accomplishment, enhanced well-being). As evidenced by research on work-family spillover, self-improvement also has important implications for organizations, as there is considerable crossover between work and non-work domains. The current study tested the effectiveness of Truly Accomplished, an intervention designed to help individuals develop personalized systems for measuring and improving behavior, and examined the extent to which the outcomes associated with such behavior change exhibit positive spillover effects into the workplace. Participants (N = 44) experienced large gains in effectiveness (d = 2.93). Effectiveness gain was predicted by conscientiousness (r = .40), core self-evaluations (r = .42), and psychological safety (r = .64). Learning goal orientation and performance goal orientation interacted with perceived goal difficulty to predict effectiveness gain. Overall effectiveness gain was negatively related to stress and positively related to future change efficacy, job-related efficacy, and satisfaction with the intervention. Job satisfaction and job efficacy increased following feedback, providing some evidence of spillover. Results have implications for individual behavior and attitude change, and its impact seems to extend into subjective well-being above and beyond actual behavior change. Evidence of spillover has implications for organizations, suggesting that TA may be used as a mechanism through which job-related outcomes can be improved.

Childhood obesity affects roughly 1 in 5 children in the United States (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2018). Childhood obesity is related to health concerns including physical illness, mental illness, and occupational imbalance (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016; Cantal, 2019; Pizzi, 2016). An in-depth literature review revealed that there are very few childhood obesity programs that support children at the familial or individual level. Rather, current programs are standardized, manualized, and do not allow for customization (Chomitz et al., 2010; Salmon et al., 2008). Program benefits vary based on the participants’ personal and familial factors and supports (Chomitz et al., 2010; Salmon et al., 2008). Therefore, many children do not receive the optimal benefits that these programs suggest.
The author developed a 12-week, evidence-based, intervention program designed to guide occupational therapists in treating children with obesity. Behavior change theories guided both the understanding of the problem and the development of the program. Fit 4 You utilizes a flexible intervention approach that allows for customization of the program for each participant, therefore accounting for their personal and familial factors. The Fit 4 You intervention is guided by four evidence-based concepts: (1) planning, (2) self-efficacy, (3) practice and (4) fun. The short and long-term outcomes of this program provide necessary services to an in-need population and contribute to evidence-based practice for occupational therapists. Findings from the program evaluation research will used to improve the program design and will be disseminated to families and occupational therapists to promote program expansion.

Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research typically studies behavior change by measuring behavior outcomes, but this is not always feasible nor the only way to study persuasive technologies. Understanding how users interact with and integrate persuasive systems into their daily lives can also guide the evaluation of such systems. Often times, theories about behavior change in persuasive systems lack contextual specificity, which is why this study explores the online courses of Lifted to understand behavior change within the context of online health coaching. Four coaches and eight users were interviewed about their interactions and perceptions of Lifted’s online health coaching platform to help understand which features of the course platform support user retention. Key features identified as persuasive were those that supported personalization, sense of community or users’ commitment to the course. In the future the identified themes and features can tentatively guide the development and design of online health coaching platforms. / Forskning inom människa-dator interaktion (MDI) brukar fokusera på beteendeförändring genom att mäta utfallet av ett beteende. Detta är inte alltid möjligt att tillämpa eller det enda sättet att studera persuasiva teknologier. Att förstå hur användaren interagerar med persuasiva system och integrerar dem i sina vardagliga liv kan också styra utvärdering av sådana system. De flesta beteendeteorier är inte kontextspecifika, vilket är ett skäl till varför den här studien utforskar onlinekurser av Lifted för att förstå beteendeförändring i kontexten av online hälsocoaching. Fyra tränade och åtta användare intervjuades om deras interaktioner och uppfattning av Lifteds hälsocoaching för att förstå vad de är på plattformen som gör att användarna återvänder. Nyckelfunktioner som identifierades som persuasiva var sådana som stödde personifiering, gemenskapen eller användarnas engagemang i kursen. Perceived effect from using a gamified app developed to reduce employee greenhouse emissionsShin, Oliver January 2022 (has links)
This study has focused on investigating the perceived effect on knowledge, retention and engagement from using a gamified app developed to reduce employee greenhouse emissions. Data was gathered using a “deed-based” mobile application at a large nordic commercial IT company. The employees of the company entered a month-long campaign commitment to try and improve their knowledge of sustainable emission behavior. After completing the campaign period we conducted interviews with select people to gather qualitative insight of their experience. The results found indicate that participants do not conclusively perceive a knowledge increase of sustainability and greenhouse emissions after the campaign ended. Participants generally enjoyed the competitive aspect of the gamified app, often referring to it as fun and engaging. In some cases, participants became very engaged and initiated deeper sustainability discussions with their teammates during the campaign. / Denna studie har fokuserat på att undersöka upplevd påverkan på kunskap, bibehållande av kunskap och engagemang från att använda en spelapp utvecklad för att minska anställdas CO2-utsläpp. Denna uppdragsbaserade mobilapp användes som utgångspunkt för den här studien på ett stort nordiskt IT-företag. De anställda i företaget gick in i en månadslång kampanj för att försöka förbättra sina kunskaper om hållbart utsläppsbeteende. Efter att ha slutfört kampanjperioden genomfördes intervjuer med utvalda personer för att få insikt i deras erfarenheter från kampanjen. Resultaten indikerar att deltagarna inte upplevde en kunskapsökning inom hållbarhet och växthusgasutsläpp efter kampanjens slut. Deltagarna uppskattade i allmänhet tävlingsmomentet i appen, som ofta ansågs rolig och engagerande. I i vissa fall blev deltagarna väldigt engagerade i djupare hållbarhetsdiskussioner inom laget.

This paper explores the usage of digital behavior change applied to veganism by applying various concepts from different behavior change models. These models are used as a basis to create several intervention posts that are presented to participants over a period of 8 days via the medium of Instagram. The transtheoretical model is used as a tool of measurement of how participants progress by placing them in distinct stages of change, based on interviews conducted before and after being exposed to the intervention posts. For this purpose, several behavior change interventions are designed with the help of the Behavior Change Wheel model. By measuring the rate of recollection of each intervention post we get an overview of how well different types of posts stick in memory. Of the intervention functions in the Behavior Change Wheel, Education was found to be the most important in our study, meaning that most participants found a lack of knowledge to be a limiting factor. The economical aspect of vegan food was also found to be a major aspect in our sample group of university students. Additionally it was observed that participants were communicating and recommending recipes to each other, it was found that this had a major influence on the behavior of our participants. / Den här rapporten utforskar användningen av digitala beteendeförändrings-metoder applicerat på veganism genom att använda koncept från två beteendeförändrings-modeller. Dessa modeller används som bas för att skapa flera interventions-inlägg som presenteras för deltagarna via Instagram under en period av 8 dagar. Intervjuer utförs före och efter studieperioden för att placera varje deltagare i en utav den Transteoretiska modellens skeden som används för att mäta hur interventions-inläggen påverkar dem. Genom att mäta vilka inlägg som deltagarna kom ihåg får vi en överblick av hur väl olika typer av inlägg fastna på minnet. Modellen Behavior Change Wheel används för att designa själva interventionerna och av dess interventions-funktioner så verkade Utbildning vara den viktigaste i vår studie då de flesta deltagarna ansåg att avsaknaden av kunskap var en begränsande faktor. Den ekonomiska aspekten av vegansk mat ansågs också vara en stor faktor i vår provgrupp som bestod av universitetsstudenter. Ytterligare så observerades det att deltagarna kommunicerade och rekommenderade recept till varandra vilket visade sig ha ett stort inflytande be deras beteende.
