L'art cinématographique d'Ingmar Bergman : une poétique d’impureté considérée dans quelques uns de ses films / Ingmar Bergman's Cinematic Art : A Poetics of Impurity Considered in Some of His Films

Tyushova, Elena 09 June 2018 (has links)
Through the prism of aesthetic and poetic cross-fertilizations, Ingmar Bergman's Cinematic Art: A Poetics of Impurity Considered in Some of His Films highlights the subtle, more or less obvious links that the film and television works of the Swedish director maintain with other arts. By taking into account general theoretical considerations, prior conceptual and methodological principals to the film analyze, as well as the major literary, linguistic and aesthetic theories, while displacing and situating the subject of the thesis in properly cinematographic thoughts, this doctoral thesis considers the films of Bergman in accordance with a "poetic aesthetic" or an "aesthetic poetics". The developed analyses communicate a Gilles Deleuze perspective. They privilege both the singularities and the transversalities, focus on aesthetic forms and sensitive configurations, emit “idea-forms,” and reveal the links of impurity to other arts and the attempts to hybridize with them (according to the idea of Alain Badiou for whom cinematic art is the constantly repeated but impossible attempt to merge together the different arts).

Two Essays: Ingmar Bergman's "The Seventh Seal" and "Winter Light."

Olson, Ted 01 January 2018 (has links)
Boasting landmark classics like Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal and screen legends such as Greta Garbo, Sweden is home today to a rich and exciting contemporary national cinema that comprises the works of a diverse group of cinematographers, including Tomas Alfredson, Roy Andersson, and Nils Arden Oplev, director of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. In Directory of World Cinema: Sweden, Marcelline Block has assembled a team of leading international experts to situate Sweden’s film industry in a global context. Among the topics discussed in this volume are the characteristic genres of Swedish cinema—among them silent films, erotica, animation, and crime noir—and the great impact Swedish films have had on filmmakers internationally, especially in America and France for whose audiences Swedish films have often been adapted. Additional essays examine the significance of Swedish directors and actors—among them Ingrid Bergman—who have made a lasting contribution to global cinema. Completing this volume are reviews of classic and contemporary Swedish films and recommendations for further reading.

Polyanalytic Bergman Kernels

Haimi, Antti January 2013 (has links)
The thesis consists of three articles concerning reproducing kernels ofweighted spaces of polyanalytic functions on the complex plane. In the first paper, we study spaces of polyanalytic polynomials equipped with a Gaussianweight. In the remaining two papers, more general weight functions are considered. More precisely, we provide two methods to compute asymptotic expansions for the kernels near the diagonal and then apply the techniques to get estimates for reproducing kernels of polyanalytic polynomial spaces equipped with rather general weight functions. / <p>QC 20130513</p>

Fakta/Fiktion : En analys av förhållandet mellan fakta och fiktion hos Sten Bergman och Per Olof Sundman.

Willander, Martin January 2008 (has links)

Weighted Bergman Kernel Functions and the Lu Qi-keng Problem

Jacobson, Robert Lawrence 2012 May 1900 (has links)
The classical Lu Qi-keng Conjecture asks whether the Bergman kernel function for every domain is zero free. The answer is no, and several counterexamples exist in the literature. However, the more general Lu Qi-keng Problem, that of determining which domains in Cn have vanishing kernels, remains a difficult open problem in several complex variables. A challenge in studying the Lu Qi-keng Problem is that concrete formulas for kernels are generally difficult or impossible to compute. Our primary focus is on developing methods of computing concrete formulas in order to study the Lu Qi-keng Problem. The kernel for the annulus was historically the first counterexample to the Lu Qi-keng Conjecture. We locate the zeros of the kernel for the annulus more precisely than previous authors. We develop a theory giving a formula for the weighted kernel on a general planar domain with weight the modulus squared of a meromorphic function. A consequence of this theory is a technique for computing explicit, closed-form formulas for such kernels where the weight is associated to a meromorphic kernel with a finite number of zeros on the domain. For kernels associated to meromorphic functions with an arbitrary number of zeros on the domain, we obtain a weighted version of the classical Ramadanov's Theorem which says that for a sequence of nested bounded domains exhausting a limiting domain, the sequence of associated kernels converges to the kernel associated to the limiting domain. The relationship between the zeros of the weighted kernels and the zeros of the corresponding unweighted kernels is investigated, and since these weighted kernels are related to unweighted kernels in C^2, this investigation contributes to the study of the Lu Qi-keng Problem. This theory provides a much easier technique for computing certain weighted kernels than classical techniques and provides a unifying explanation of many previously known kernel formulas. We also present and explore a generalization of the Lu Qi-keng Problem.

Putnam's Inequality and Analytic Content in the Bergman Space

Fleeman, Matthew 16 June 2016 (has links)
In this dissertation we are interested in studying two extremal problems in the Bergman space. The topics are divided into three chapters. In Chapter 2, we study Putnam’s inequality in the Bergman space setting. In [32], the authors showed that Putnam’s inequality for the norm of self-commutators can be improved by a factor of 1 for Toeplitz operators with analytic symbol φ acting on the Bergman space A2(Ω). This improved upper bound is sharp when φ(Ω) is a disk. We show that disks are the only domains for which the upper bound is attained. In Chapter 3, we consider the problem of finding the best approximation to z ̄ in the Bergman space A2(Ω). We show that this best approximation is the derivative of the solution to the Dirichlet problem on ∂Ω with data |z|2 and give examples of domains where the best approximation is a polynomial, or a rational function. Finally, in Chapter 4 we study Bergman analytic content, which measures the L2(Ω)-distance between z ̄ and the Bergman space A2(Ω). We compute the Bergman analytic content of simply connected quadrature domains with quadrature formula supported at one point, and we also determine the function f ∈ A2(Ω) that best approximates z ̄. We show that, for simply connected domains, the square of Bergman analytic content is equal to torsional rigidity from classical elasticity theory, while for multiply connected domains these two domain constants are not equivalent in general.
