Demonstra-se que Edison Carneiro era “pessoa de dentro” ou, aproveitando-se de seus dizeres, “uma pessoa de casa”, em seus labores artísticos e etnográficos. Vê-se a produção do intelectual feiticeiro compromissada com um lugar de fala afro-brasileiro, popular e plural tanto na poesia, como referente à defesa do samba e na etnografia de candomblés da Bahia. O método, anunciado na primeira frase, é a biografemática barthesiana, contudo, permitindo-se o pesquisador, fazer inferências na teoria de Roland Barthes, seja aproveitando conceitos questionados por Barthes, seja criando conceitos complementares à biografemática ou à crítica da cultura. Por fim, têm-se um biografema de Edison Carneiro, que também permite revelações de passagens significativas da história da cultura brasileira, com as quais Carneiro têm responsabilidades. Seja na poesia, criando novos paradigmas para compreensões do amor e de suas posses, seja na defesa do samba, antecipando a noção de salvaguarda ou dando possibilidades para o entendimento de preconceitos, revisões e/ou permanências de mitos afro-brasileiros, demonstra-se a contribuição plural e afro-brasileira de Edison Carneiro. / ABSTRACT This work presents a biographem – a narrative about someone’s life and works – about Edison Carneiro. This method of narrative writing – biographematics – belongs to Roland Barthes. However, on our inferences, we use his arguments and theoretical concepts he questioned, or we create complementary concepts to biographematics or to the cultural criticism. We structured Carneiro’s biographem on the perception of his discursive places, his poetic production and his relation with samba and Afro-Brazilian mythology. Edison Carneiro was a "person from inside" or, using his words, "a person from home". The artistic and ethnographic production of the wizard-intellectual was committed to the Afro-Brazilian popular and plural discursive place. In his poetry, he created new ways to represent and understand love and it possessions. In his works on the defense of samba, he anticipated the notion of safeguarding. In his works on the candomble of Bahia, he opened possibilities to understand it revisions and permanencies and the prejudices against this Afro-Brazilian religion. From these arguments, we can conclude that Carneiro’s biographem also reveals important moments of Brazilian culture, which we may relate to him.

Der Gegenstand der vorliegenden Dissertationsschrift ist eine Geschichte des chemischen Elements Selen von der Vorgeschichte seiner Entdeckung um 1783 bis in die 1920er Jahren. Methodisch folgt die Arbeit Vorschlägen aus den Science and Technology Studies, nicht die menschlichen Akteure ins Zentrum zu stellen, sondern danach zu fragen, in welcher Weise auch Dinge als nicht-menschliche Wesen eine Differenz erzeugen, die ihre reine Objekthaftigkeit zu hinterfragen erlaubt und sie zu Akteuren der Geschichte macht. Ziel der Arbeit war eine Rekontextualisierung der historischen Voraussetzungen, die die unterschiedlichen Ereignisse im Leben des Selens erst möglich gemacht haben. Die Arbeit stützt sich auf eine sehr breite Quellenbasis. Der Untersuchungszeitraum erstreckt sich von ersten Publikationen im erweiterten Kontext der Vorgeschichte der Entdeckung des Selens im Jahr 1783, die Entdeckung der lichtsensitiven Eigenschaften W. Smith 1873 bis in die 1920er Jahre, als der Einsatz der Selenzelle in diversen Erfindungen rund um das Thema der Fernsteuerung und Automatisierung zu einem vorläufigen Ende kommt. Die hier als »Selen – Ein Biographem« vorgestellte Arbeit unternimmt einen Perspektivenwechsel: Das chemische Element Selen ist der Protagonist der Untersuchung. Die Arbeit trägt einen Teil zur medienhistorischen Aufarbeitung der Geschichte des Fernsehens bei, wobei der Fokus auf den Entwicklungen im Bereich der technischen Bildübertragung zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts liegt. Aber auch die Geschichte der Entdeckung des Selens sowie der Einsatz desselben im Kontext der Verlegung des transatlantischen Telegraphenkabels – um nur zwei weitere historische Knoten aufzurufen – müssen fortan in einem anderen Licht betrachtet werden. / The subject of this dissertation is a history of the chemical element selenium from the prehistory of the discovery of selenium around 1783 to the 1920s. Methodically, the work follows proposals from the Science and Technology Studies, not to focus on the human actors, but to ask in which way things as non-human beings also create a difference, which allows to question their pure objecthood and makes them actors of history. The aim of the work was to recontextualize the historical preconditions that made the different events in the life of the selenium possible in the first place. The work is based on a very broad source base. The period of investigation extends from the first publications in the expanded context of the prehistory of the discovery of selenium in 1783, the discovery of the light-sensitive properties of selenium by W. Smith in 1873 up to the 1920s, when the use of the selenium cell in various inventions around the topic of remote control and automation comes to a provisional end. The work presented here as »Selenium – A Biographeme« makes a change of perspective: The chemical element selenium is the protagonist of the investigation. The present work contributes its part to the media-historical analysis of the history of television. The focus is on developments in the field of technical image transmission at the beginning of the 20th century. But also the history of the discovery of selenium, as well as its use in the context of the laying of the transatlantic telegraph cable–to call up only two further historical nodes–must henceforth be viewed in a different light.

A barca de Gleyre: estilo e criação literária nas cartas de Lobato a Rangel

It seeks to learn, in the correspondence of Monteiro Lobato to Godofredo Rangel, reunited in this work, the concept of style, and of literary creation, as well as biographems of Lobato. In this epistolary discussion, of active correspondence, the letters evidence Lobato s intellectual journey. This has led to an examination of the discourse established in these letters and to understand them as fundamental to the author´s thinking. In other words, we intend to learn how the letters, while gender, receive a literary treatment in regard to style. Beginning with the problem and the objective proposed, two hypotheses guide this survey: the corespondence of Lobat and Rangel is an exercise to criticise the literary creation and to modify its own conception of style; Lobato s correspondence with Rangel, according to literary biographem of Lobato. The fundamental theory that orients this work rests primordially on the studies of Bakhtin, in relation to the discourse, once that it is focused on the problem of literary creation in its esthetic and formal scope; on those of José Lemos Monteiro, concerning to notion of stylistic detours and virtues of style; on those of Elaine Caramella, as they refer to notions of biographem. This work is divided into three chapters. The first gives a brief introdution of epistles and analizes the structure of the work A Barca de Gleyre. The second deals with the significant style of Lobato and his literary creation. The third chapter gleans, from the letters, biographematic characteristics of the author. Among other conclusions, it examines the process of Lobato s stylistic faceting, the difficulty of establishing boundaries between the real and the fictitious, and the evidences, as marks left by the author, in the construction of his literary life / A presente dissertação tem como objetivo estudar a obra A Barca de Gleyre, de Monteiro Lobato. Busca apreender, nas cartas de Monteiro Lobato a Godofredo Rangel, reunidas nessa obra, o conceito de estilo, de criação literária, além de biografemas lobatianos. Nesse discurso epistolar, de correspondência ativa, as cartas evidenciam a trajetória intelectual de Lobato, o que nos levou a um levantamento dos discursos estabelecidos nas cartas, compreendendo-os como formadores do pensamento do autor. Em outras palavras, pretendemos apreender como as cartas, enquanto gênero, recebem um tratamento literário no trato estilístico. A partir dessa problemática e do objetivo proposto, duas hipóteses norteiam esta pesquisa: a correspondência de Lobato a Rangel é um exercício para criticar a criação literária e modificar sua própria concepção de estilo; a correspondência de Lobato com Rangel, enquanto biografema literário lobatiano. A fundamentação teórica que orienta este trabalho apóia-se, primordialmente, nos estudos de Bakhtin, em relação ao discurso, uma vez que enfoca a problemática da criação literária no seu âmbito estético e formal; nos de José Lemos Monteiro, no que diz respeito às noções de desvio estilístico e virtudes do estilo; nos de Elaine Caramella, no que se refere às noções de biografema. O trabalho divide-se em três capítulos. O primeiro faz uma breve introdução sobre epistolas e analisa a estrutura da obra A Barca de Gleyre.
