Identifying key success factors of strategic planning in retail branches of a South African bank / Benjamin Velaphi MasekoMaseko, Benjamin Velaphi January 2012 (has links)
This study focused on identification of success factors of strategy implementation in
retail branches of a bank.
The objective of this study was to identify and investigate the possible factors which
influence successful implementation of strategic plans in a retail banking
environment. In doing so, establish various factors that inhibit successful strategy
implementation and explore approaches or best practices that could be adopted to
facilitate effective implementation of strategic decisions.
The data was collected through questionnaires distributed to the branch managers of
the institution. 153 respondents out of a population of 615 participated in the study.
The results showed that understanding one’s local market, knowing your customer,
communication, leadership, culture-strategy alignment, resources-strategy
alignment, rewards and tactical plan are the top success factors of strategy
implementation within branches of this bank. / Thesis (MBA)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2013

Competencies as a predictor of work performance for branch managers in a banking institutionPema-Mistry, Deepa January 1900 (has links)
An essential blend between competencies, personality and skill is sought after for successful branch managers in today’s banking world in order to achieve a high level of quality, on-time delivery, as well as customer and employee satisfaction and loyalty. In this study the predictive relationship between competencies (as a portrayal of personality and abilities) and work performance was investigated among the branch managers.
The scores on the essential Universal Competency Framework competencies, the Person- Job Match and performance data for three years were used to conduct correlation and regression analyses. The study was conducted among 95 branch managers at a banking institution in South Africa.
A theoretical relationship was determined, and this was supported by the significant relationship that was evident between the identified essential competencies of the branch managers and their work performance. The regression model summary indicated significance when using all essential competencies combined against the overall criterion score. / Industrial & Organisational Psychology / M.A. (Industrial and Organisational Psychology)
