Ba, Amadou Adama 04 1900 (has links)
The fast progression of wireless technologies has motivated the emergence of new communications system called VANETS (Vehicular Adhoc Networks). VANETS enable vehicles on the roadway to communicate with each other and with road infrastructure using wireless capabilities. The applications of VANETS include improving safety and comfort on the road. For example, by providing Internet to vehicles, traveling can be safer and more comfortable. To provide Internet connectivity, messages need to be exchanged between the vehicles. However, it is hard to design an efficient routing protocol for connecting vehicles to Internet with a reasonable cost due to high mobility in VANETS. Although, several existing routing protocols have been proposed in the open literature to extend Internet to VANETS, they generate considerable overhead. This leads to unfairly consumption of bandwidth decreasing network performance. We design a routing protocol to connect vehicles to Internet through mobile gateways with the objective to make efficient use of the network bandwidth. Indeed, the protocol significantly reduces the communication overhead required to establish and maintain the routes relying on the mobility of the gateways and the network’s load.

Optimisation multi-objectif des communications dans les réseaux de capteurs hétérogènes / Multi-objective optimization of communications in heterogeneous sensor networks

Breschi, Karla 06 December 2018 (has links)
This thesis studies the problems of bi-objective optimization of communications in heterogeneous wireless sensor networks from the point of view of the transmission range. The first criterion considered is necessarily the energy consumption that needs to be reduced in order to maximize the network lifetime. The second criterion is the data transmission delay, which is essential for real-time applications. To solve the optimality problem of the broadcast, we propose an integer linear program, an approximation algorithm, a meta-heuristic and a heuristic. All these techniques allow us to find or to approximate the optimal solutions for the considered objectives. For the routing case, we propose a cross-layer approach via an integer linear program between the MAC and Data Link layers. Our method calculates the optimal solution, which represents a point of comparison for future heuristics having the same goals.

Archivace záběrů v redakcích zpravodajství a sportu České televize / Archiving of news and sport footage in the Czech TV

Ondrejčík, Gustav January 2019 (has links)
This thesis describes the process of archiving of shots and programmes in news and sport editorial offices of the Czech Television. Newsroom prepares broadcasts for ČT1 and ČT24 programmes. The sport editorial office provides the broadcasts for ČT SPORT and also prepares the news for "Branky, body, vteřiny" on ČT1. With regard to this, both offices produce a considerable amount of audio-visual material. The thesis examines how this material is subsequently archived. Do both offices have a systematic and comprehensive procedure for archiving of shots and programmes? And are these archives easily traceable, available and usable for further broadcasting? The thesis summarizes the history of archiving of news and sport audio-visual material. The key process of digitization, which allows the transcription and saving of old archive materials stored on tape media, is also mentioned. After describing the history of archiving, the author focuses on the current methodology of the process and describes the system of archiving in news and sports news. Who does archiving and what systems and programmes are used for it? At the end of this thesis the future of archiving is analysed with regard to the progress in technologies used for archiving.

Currently, in Brazil, there are four coexisting catholic television stations, which broadcast nationally: Rede Vida, Canção Nova, TV Século XXI and TV Aparecida, besides the local ones maintained by dioceses. The investment in television means that the physical church itself is no longer the exclusive place for the expression of cult. Our object of study is the analysis of the televisual broadcast produced by two catholic television stations: TV Canção Nova and TV Aparecida. The choice of these stations was made due to the definition of two distinct scenarios of Catholicism: the charismatic scenario and the institutional scenario. Two weeks were randomly selected during the research for an accurate analysis of the broadcast. We will take into consideration for the analysis not only the technical characteristics of the audiovisual but, above all, the content aired. We avoided the comparative analysis between the two stations because it would be irrelevant, considering that both are confessional stations of the same creed. We intend to verify if there is any differential between the broadcast produced by these stations and the others, basing on the hypothesis that by absorbing several formats of radiophonic programs and transposing them to television, confessional Catholics prepare its programming plan in formats that have already been established by evangelization and repeat in their broadcast the formats from nonconfessional stations. Our analysis is based on the case study of the mentioned stations and is supported by theories of cultural miscegenation (GRUZINSKI, 2001; PINHEIRO, 2009); of cultural mediation (MARTIN-BARBERO, 2001, 2004); the spectacle society (DEBORD, 2007); the sociology of absences and the emergencies (SANTOS, 2010) / A Igreja Católica elegeu a última década do século passado para o investimento na televisão como recurso e meio para a evangelização, consolidando a sua tradição na evangelização eletrônica, iniciada nos 1950 no rádio.

Gender, feminism and talk on British television, 1970-1990

Kay, Jilly January 2015 (has links)
This thesis uncovers and analyses the relationship between forms of talk on British television between 1970-1990, and the uneven transformations in gender politics that occurred in this period, which encompasses both the second wave feminist movement and the rise of neoliberal politics. It presents five historical case studies of talk-based television programmes from across this time period: No Man’s Land (Associated Television/ITV, 1973), Good Afternoon! (Thames Television/ITV, 1971-1984), Pictures of Women: Sexuality (Channel 4, 1984), Watch the Woman (Channel 4, 1985), and Question Time (BBC One, 1979-present). These case studies offer a deliberate selection of television texts that differ according to their institutional contexts; their position in the schedules; their status in existing broadcasting histories; their discursive arrangements; and their modes of address. The thesis seeks to consider how the communicative ethos of television talk has been gendered in three key ways: at the level of production - in the sense of when, how, and why television spaces have been opened up for gendered forms of talk in relationship to wider shifts in gender politics; at the level of the text - in terms of how the discursive arrangements of talk-based programmes have worked to include, exclude, legitimise or disavow women’s voices; and at the level of critical reception - in the sense of how television talk has been evaluated in profoundly gendered terms. The thesis is methodologically innovative because it theorises gendered forms of television talk in relationship to histories of television production, as well as to broader political, cultural and gender histories. It carries out important empirical ‘recovery work’ of hidden women’s television histories through the presentation of original archival research. It also presents theoretical work, which re-evaluates the distinctive communicative ethos of television – or its “sociability” in light of feminist theories of language, gender and power. Moreover, it sheds some historical light on why the institutional parameters of television still delimit the available spaces for women's speech.
