Implementing Static Mesh Hole Filling in Unreal Engine 4.27

This project, completed in collaboration with Piktiv AB, aimed to develop an automated surface hole-filling feature for static meshes in Unreal Engine 4.27, with the goal of making repaired surfaces visually indistinguishable from their surrounding areas. The solution was primarily designed to address holes that arose from, but were not limited to, the use of Reduction Settings within Unreal Engine on static meshes. The functionality encompassed four key stages: boundary detection, where all holes on the mesh were identified; triangulation, which involved patching the hole using vertices from the boundary; refinement, entailing the addition of vertices and triangles to the patched area to mimic the density of the surrounding surface; and fairing, which smoothed the patched surface. Additionally, the project introduced a straightforward method for determining the texture coordinates of newly added vertices and a technique for ensuring that triangle normals correctly faced outward from the mesh. The Static Mesh Hole Filler, as implemented, demonstrates efficiency in filling an arbitrary amount of small, planar holes, which commonly result from polygon reduction using Reduction Settings in Unreal Engine. However, this function falls short in preserving unique texture details and maintaining the curvature of surfaces when dealing with larger holes. This limitation necessitates users to seek alternative methods for effectively repairing the mesh.

As escolas públicas valorizam o planejamento escolar como uma das preocupações administrativas e pedagógicas a fim de que sejam criadas condições para a efetiva realização do que foi estabelecido. Entretanto, as escolas públicas municipais não contam com planos administrativos elaborados. A presente pesquisa tem o objetivo de identificar a visão do diretor escolar sobre a gestão estratégica com balanced scorecard (BSC) e mapa estratégico no setor público. Para atingir o objetivo visado, a pesquisa teve como primeiro passo, o repasse de dados e informações do GREFIC da FEARP-USP para seleção das escolas públicas no município de Ribeirão Preto/SP e, a partir disso, uma abordagem qualitativa, utilizando o estudo de caso como procedimento técnico nas escolas públicas levantadas. A pesquisa caracterizou-se como aplicada e descritiva. As técnicas de coleta de dados foram a observação, o questionário, a entrevista, o diário de campo e o grupo focal. Foram entrevistadas oito diretoras escolares. O grupo focal foi aplicado em três diretoras escolares concomitantemente a uma capacitação sobre o tema \"gestão estratégica com BSC no setor público\". Foi feita a observação não participante em duas escolas. Na análise de dados, foi utilizada a análise de conteúdo. Como resultado, constatou-se que a visão da gestão estratégica, para o diretor escolar, foi de pensar em metas e objetivos para melhoria da vida escolar do aluno. Já a perspectiva do diretor escolar sobre a aplicação da gestão estratégica com BSC e mapa estratégico no setor público foi a de que as ferramentas aparecem como viáveis dentro do setor público e das escolas públicas, porém, ambos precisam ser adaptados para melhor utilização. Foi elaborado um esboço do BSC e mapa estratégico no setor público, especificamente da escola pública. Conclui-se que as escolas necessitam de um plano administrativo específico para uma gestão mais eficiente e participativa. O BSC e o mapa estratégico são viáveis para o setor público e para as escolas públicas municipais, desde que sejam adaptados. Este projeto contribuiu para a pesquisa do BSC no setor público, bem como para a melhoria da educação pública brasileira. / Public schools value school planning as one of the administrative and pedagogical concerns to create conditions for the effective realization of what has been established. To reach the proposed objective, the research had as a first step the transfer of data and information from the GREFIC of FEARP-USP for the selection of public schools in Ribeirão Preto/SP city and from there a qualitative approach, with the use of the case study as technical procedure in public schools raised. The research was characterized as applied and descriptive. The data collection techniques were observation, the questionnaire, the interview, the field diary and the focus group. Eight school principals were interviewed. The focus group was applied to three principals\' concomitant with a training about strategic management with BSC in the public sector. Non-participant observation was done in two schools. Data analysis was performed using content analysis. The results indicate that the vision of strategic management for the principal was to think about goals and objectives to improve the student\'s school life. The principal\'s view on the application of strategic management with BSC and strategic map in the public sector was that tools appear as viable within the public sector and public schools, but both need to be adapted for better use. An outline of the BSC and strategic map was made in the public sector, specifically the public school. We conclude that schools need a specific administrative plan for a more efficient and participatory management. The BSC and the strategic map are feasible for the public sector and municipal public schools, provided they are adapted. This project contributed to the BSC\'s research in the public sector, as well as the improvement of Brazilian public education.

This thesis is dedicated to modern management approaches to Public Sector organizations with a special focus on projects of Public Private Partnership. This topic is one of the latest issues not only in the Czech Republic but also in numerous European countries. The public sector and its organizations are going through total modernization in these countries. This results in higher quality and more effective Public Services for citizens. I view this problem from 2 perspectives and ask the following questions which reflect the main hypothesis of this thesis: which modern approaches (tools, methods) are the most often used (intended to be used) including their contributions to higher quality and more effective management of organizations of municipalities in the Czech Republic, how is the principle of Public Private Partnership perceived and used in organizations of municipalities in the Czech Republic (Water sector) including barriers which hinder its use. It has been proven that for achieving higher quality and more effective results in the Public Sector, it is not only suitable but even systematically necessary to use modern tools of organization and management. These tools are nowadays commonly applied in the Public Sector. At the same time it has also been proven that Public Private Partnership can significantly support management in the Public Sector through its own implementation of modern tools. Further widening the use of modern tools of management and cooperation between the Public and the Private Sector is sustained through the spreading of knowledge. This is based on sharing ?good praxis?, transparent legislation and appropriate (procedural) methodology for implementation.

Diseño de un sistema de gestión empresarial adaptado a las PYMEs del sector textil cuya producción se basa en el tisaje de tejidos para el hogar

El presente trabajo de investigación trata de uno de los pilares que sustentarán el devenir de las empresas del sector textil ante los nuevos retos que supone la nueva competencia ejercida por los países asiáticos. Estos pilares, innovación aplicada a productos y procesos, capacidad de desarrollo de artículos con diseño diferenciado y gestión eficaz de las empresas constituirán los elementos necesarios para la supervivencia del sector. El contenido de esta investigación propone un modelo específico de gestión adaptado a las empresas del sector textil de mayor relevancia en la Comunidad Valenciana constituído por las PYMEs dedicadas a la fabricación de tejidos destinados al sector de textiles para el hogar. Se basa en el desarrollo de una herramienta que realice la traducción de la estrategia definida por la empresa, en objetivos relacionados, medidos a través de indicadores que permiten crear a través de ellos unos planes de acción que unifican criterios de comportamiento a todos los miembros de la empresa. El modelo propuesto ha sido desarrollado contando con la participación de un importante número de empresas pertenecientes al sector definido, fruto de esta colaboración y tras la evaluación de los resultados obtenidos, se ha creado un sistema de gestión basado en la utilización de una serie de indicadores los cuales se considera subdividirlos en cinco perspectivas, financiera, productiva, comercial, recursos humanos e innovación, desde las cuales se propone medir la evolución de la empresa y la herramienta que ayude a la toma de las diferentes decisiones estratégicas. Como resultado se definen los Factores Críticos de Éxito común al conjunto de empresas de estas características y se genera un Cuadro de Mando constituido por una cifra de 27 indicadores. The theoretical part explains the concept of performance and performance access to its evaluation. There is also the description of selected strategic analysis in this part. It is explained the essence of Balanced Scorecard and gradual steps in its implementation of corporate management in detail. The practical part describes the current situation in the company and on the basis of the results of each analysis it is proposing a project to implement the Balanced Scorecard. The final part of the thesis includes Balanced Scorecard implementation into the company to increase its efficiency and further development.

Titel: Balanserade styrkort i små och medelstora företag - Styrkor, svagheter, fallgropar och framgångsfaktorer Forskningsfrågor:  - Hur kan balanserade styrkort tillämpas i små och medelstora företagi Sverige? - Vilka är det balanserade styrkortets främsta styrkor och svagheter i små och medelstora företag? - Vilka faktorer kan vara avgörande för det balanserade styrkortets framgång i små och medelstora företag? Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva och förstå hur balanserade styrkort framgångsrikt kan tillämpas i små och medelstora företag i Sverige. Metod: Studien har genomförts med en abduktiv forskningsansats. Vidare har en kvalitativ och interpretativ studie genomförts genom djupgående intervjuer med konsulter, användare och forskare.  Slutsats: Resultatet av studien visar att det balanserade styrkortet är lämpligt för alla organisationer men att tolkning och tillämpning skiljer sig stort. Det balanserade styrkortet kan med fördel anpassas efter det enskilda företaget. Konceptets styrkor är att det stimulerar diskussion, enar ledningsgruppen och konkretiserar mål vilket kan skapa en större förståelse för verksamheten. Konceptets svagheter är att det kan upplevas som komplext och att det är tidskrävande. Avgörande för styrkortets framgång är att det finns en tydlig strategikoppling och att strategin följs upp och omprövas regelbundet. Method: The study has been performed using an abductive approach. Furthermore, a qualitative and interpretative study has been performed by in-depth interviews with consultants, users and a researcher. Conclusion: The results of the study shows that the balanced scorecard is suitable for all types of organisations but also that the interpretation and implementation can vary alot. The balanced scorecard can and should be adapted to the individual company. The weaknesses of the concept is that it can be seen as complex and time consuming.
