1 Abstract The author of this work pays attention to Czech musical personality Jaroslav Kofroň who is known primarily as an educator and author of pedagogical literature: The textbook of harmony; The textbook of rhythm and intonation. The main objective is to bring the essential information about the artist's compositional activity that is not known, although it is very rich and deserves more attention. According to the information the works are identified with the year of their implementation and available materials that are stored in libraries or on the website. The partial aim is a comprehensive and acquaints the public with the whole range of Kofroň personality that we perceive as a performer, a conductor, a choirmaster and a painter. Main chapter provides an overview of the composer's instrumental formation that includes the creation of orchestral, brass, chamber music, solo concerts. A huge attention is focused on the creation of the song, which contains over 600 songs, edited or composed both for solo singing voices and choirs: male, female, children's and mixed. It also identified spiritual music, stage and production for children there. Unlike other song composers of the 19th century, Pauline Viardot wrote in many languages and national styles. Her songs, "Haï Luli!," "In der Frühe," "Morirò," "La nuit monte/ Già la notte," "Canción de la Infanta," "Юноша и дьва," "Le Rêve de Jésus," are examples of Viardot's ability to compose in many languages and national styles.

This project is based on collaborations between the clarinettist Maria Victoria Fernández and the composer Manuel Marí. The process of collaborating is described and two new pieces are composed as result. The first of the pieces is called “Cycles” andit is a solo piece for clarinet, while the second piece is called “Shadows” and is a piece for clarinet and live electronics. The concept of perception is explored and new techniques have been addressed to make this new music accessible both to new audiences and performers interested in this field.

The present diploma thesis deals with the life and compositional style of an important composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. The work of Sergei Rachmaninoff belongs to the basic pianistic repertoire. Pianists approach it in different ways, and their concepts often differ greatly. The purpose of the the diploma thesis is to compare several interpretative performance and draw general conclusions.

Although the orchestral works and operas of Richard Strauss (1864–1949) haveachieved universal acclaim, his piano music remains largely unexamined on a scholarly level. Even though Strauss’s array of piano music is diverse, it has not been thoroughly studied in its full spectrum. In fact, there is no major work in English that addresses his piano legacy. This monograph presents Strauss’s piano solo oeuvre by analyzing his stylistic features, sources of inspiration, and development as a composer. Combining all his piano works into a single analytical assessment will provide access to Richard Strauss’s musical world and shine a spotlight on this significant but neglected area of his output. Moreover, the composer’s 12 Variations in D major, TrV 68 (1878) is included and discussed in the monograph for the first time, since they have never appeared in print. It will be a valuable resource for performers and scholars, who can rediscover his music. / Music Performance

This diploma thesis is based on the analysis of primary and secondary sources, including authentic memories of living witnesses. It focuses on important personalities of the musical life in the border region around the former Sudetenland, specifically on the life and work of selected composers, musicologists, teachers, choir masters , conductors, and active musicians working in the region below the Jestřebí Mountains - the area between Náchod and Trutnov, that is Červený Kostelec, Rtyně v Podkrkonoší, Malé Svatoňovice, Úpice, and Trutnov. These are personalities who contributed not only to the development of regional music, but also to the education of new talents, between the years of 1940 and 1980 of the 20th century (however, the work with its biographical character presents some overlaps to other eras, such as the pre-war era, the times of war, or the post-revolutionary era). In the presented text, individual biographies of selected musically-active individuals are reconstructed, during whose often difficult lives significant historical events (including social repressions) took place. There was often mutual cooperation between the personalities discussed in this work, and they often influenced each other. The profiles of the personalities are arranged alphabetically.
