Syftet med rapporten är att sammanställa samt jämföra olika ätbara makroalgarter från det Rhodophyta, Phaeophyta och Chlorophyta divisionerna utifrån dess näringsinnehåll. Detta för att analysera algernas utvecklade potential som livsmedel och som substitut till animaliska proteinkällor. För att uppnå syftet kommer algarternas näringsinnehåll att sammanställas utifrån protein-, kolhydrat- och fettinnehåll genom datainsamling av tidigare forskning. Rapporten utgörs av en litteraturstudie där insamling av data sker via databasen Google Scholar och enbart originalartiklar väljs ut. Algernas näringsvärde jämförs sedan med värden för sju referensprodukter som används som proteinkällor på livsmedelsmarknaden idag. Rapporten visar att alger hos divisionen Rhodophyta har det högsta proteininnehållet, men att även alger hos övriga divisioner innehåller mer protein än ett flertal av referensprodukterna. De granskade algarterna har generellt sett goda förutsättningar att substituera många av referenslivsmedlen och därmed den näringsinnehållsmässiga potentialen för utvecklad användning inom livsmedelsindustrin. / The aim of the report is to compile and compare different edible macroalgaes from the Rhodophyta, Phaeophyta and Chlorophyta divisions by their nutritional content. This in order to analyze if the algaes have potential for expanded use on the food market and as a substitute for animal protein sources. To achieve the aim, the nutritional content of the algaes will be compiled on the basis of protein, carbohydrate and fat content through a data collection of previous research. This bachelor thesis is a study of literature, where only journal articles and scientific reports are used. The algaes nutritional values are then compared to values for seven reference products, that are used as protein sources on the food market today. The report shows that the algal species from the Rhodophyta division have the highest protein content, and that algae from the other divisions show protein contents higher than most of the reference values. The reviewed algaes generally have good qualifications to substitute many of the reference products and therefore, as regards the nutritional content, big potential for expanded use within the food industry.

This study began with the question of whether the press is conveying messages that contain speculation of future events as opposed to the recounting of current events. Speculative language is a form of subjective speech and as such its presence in press content defies the journalist principle of objectivity. The analysis sought to identify two newspaper's use of speculative language within headlines in the news sections. Two other variables considered were article placement, and the ownership structure of the news organizations. Previous research supports the claim that the ownership structure of an organization can influence the content it publishes (Lacy, 1986). With this in mind, the study attempted to determine if these variables have an affect on the nature or frequency of speculative language in news content. The researcher explored the question of speculative language in the press by analyzing headlines from the A (Main) and Local sections from two Florida newspapers, the corporately owned Orlando Sentinel and the independent St. Petersburg Times. The researcher chose to study headlines because they convey the newsworthiness of the story and former research confirms that reader perceptions of a news account can depend on the headline (Pfau, 1995; Tannenbaum, 1953). The aim was to comparatively study the news headlines through quantitative content analysis of the language used.

With the rise of technology, this abuse has the ability to become more far-reaching, and more pervasive than ever. These students face oppression, and in some cases severe imbalances of power. Current research is being conducted and laws created based on varying operational and conception definitions of the term "cyberbullying." This study aims to analyze and provide a coherent definition for the term "cyberbullying" as it is used in research and legislation, especially in the context of today's educational environments. The results help shed light on the large variances in the term and suggestions are made to clarify the definition as the field continues to move forward.

An Investigation Into the Relationships Between the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge of University Teacher Education Faculty and Their Age, Rank, and GenderHamilton, Christina 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine what relationships exist between the age, rank, and gender of university faculty in teacher education and their technological pedagogical content knowledge. The survey instrument used was the Survey of Teacher Educators’ Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) which is an adaptation of the Survey of Preservice Teachers’ Knowledge of Teaching and Technology developed by Schmidt. A total of 347 public Texas university teacher education faculty members participated in the study. Multiple regressions were utilized and the effect size was considered to determine the strength of the relationship between the variables. A statistical significance was found relating to the age, rank, and gender of the university teacher educator faculty member and their technological knowledge (TK). Based on the information provided for the b weights, age was found to be the best predictor of their technological knowledge (TK). The discriminant analysis identified what relationship exists between the ages of university teacher education faculty technology knowledge. The results of the discriminant analysis indicate the range 20-30 and 60+ contribute equally to teacher educators’ technological knowledge. Although no statistically significant results were determined with respect to the correlations between gender, age, and rank and technological content knowledge, technological pedagogical knowledge, and technological pedagogical content knowledge, the descriptive data does suggest that some insight maybe gained from further analysis.

Super Violence: Violence, Victimization, and "Doing Gender" in Superhero Comic BooksSmith, Anna Elizabeth 14 August 2015 (has links)
Research on comic books has mainly focused on how issues of crime and justice are dealt with. This research seeks to extend the existing body of work to address the ways that gender is depicted in comic books. To do this, I apply the framework of “doing gender” to instances of violence in superhero comic books. I examine seventy-two comic books and ninety-eight instances of violence to understand gendered patterns in behaviors, responses, and visual depictions of violent instances and their aftermath. By collecting quantitative information on the instances of violence and qualitative information about how the instances are framed and visually presented, I find that, while men and women engage in similar behaviors, the ways in which these behaviors are presented are different.
