de Tavernier, Céline, Henriksson, Adam January 2016 (has links)
CSR institutionaliseras i branschen. / Background Because of increased awareness in society and greater demands from consumers, CSR has become increasingly relevant. Systembolaget has introduced a code of conduct for its suppliers. Since 2013 sales of organically produced beverages increased significantly at Systembolaget. Purpose The purpose of the study is to identify how CSR characterizes the wine industry and to identify how wine importers implement CSR. Method A qualitative deductive research approach with interviews with four wine importers to collect data. Theory The study is based on previous research and theories from several different periods. The most important theories that have been used are Four phases for implementing CSR, Institutional theory and Four challenges in the implementation of CSR. Research question This study aims to answer the following questions: How did Systembolaget’s membership in BSCI affect Swedish wine importers? What incentives and approaches have wine importers to implement, develop and improve CSR activities? What is Swedish wine importers view on CSR and BSCI? Conclusions The study has resulted in several conclusions: wine importers must adapt to the norms and values of the community to be legitimate, CSR is a part of this. CSR is going towards being institutionalized in the industry. Best practices in CSR implementation has not been possible to identify. Trust and relationship has been identified as key factors between wine importers and wine producers.

CSR Communication: a promotional tool or a portrayal of the reality? : An explorative study in the apparel and footwear industry

Wildt, Sandra January 2017 (has links)
The fashion industry is a recurring topic in the media, especially regarding the responsibility the fashion companies should take, which has created skepticism from stakeholders. This skepticism is based on that the stakeholders do not know what the companies do concerning corporate social responsibility and the companies communicate CSR with the hope of creating legitimacy on the market. How apparel and footwear communicate their CSR efforts and their performances in self-assessed tools compared to their actual efforts have not been researched before, hence the purpose of this thesis. The purpose of this research is to map and analyze how apparel and footwear companies communicate CSR efforts in comparison to their claimed CSR performance. This in order to reach a better understanding of how apparel and footwear companies communicate their CSR efforts how consistent they are with their self-assessed performance they communicate to their stakeholders. Content analyses have been conducted on the sample, which contained 59 companies in the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC). First, the content analysis has been performed on communication channels used by the sample when communicating CSR and the claimed CSR performances been collected from the Higg Index. The sustainability efforts in comparison to the performances have been analyzed based on a discourse analysis on five of the chattiest companies in SAC, which was performed after the content analysis in order to create a mixed method approach. This study has presented how frequently apparel and footwear companies communicate their CSR efforts and performances. It has also shown what channels primarily used when communicating CSR and how they choose to prioritize their performances. Additionally, the result and analysis in this study have shown that the most talkative companies in SAC, namely H&M, Inditex, Patagonia, PVH and Salomon, communicate quality in their available sustainability information. The way they all incorporate CSR in their business model is also a way of showing dedication and perhaps even quality in their sustainability efforts and claimed performances.

Contenus des représentations sur la RSE et facteurs d’influence : Une étude internationale : France, Mexique, Pologne / Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development : the social representations of employees within a multinational corporation : An international study : France, Mexico, Poland

Bertrand, Laure 12 September 2014 (has links)
This qualitative research, grounded in the interpretivist paradigm, examines the diverse interpretations of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and how this concept contributes to creating Sense within organizations, more particularly among their employees. The purpose of this research is twofold. Firstly, it aims at exploring the content of the employees’ social representations of CSR (definitions, opinions, images, associations of ideas). Secondly, it aims at highlighting how the employees’ social context influences their representations of CSR.This study takes place within the same company, the Danone group (a multinational agri-food company), and within 3 different foreign subsidiaries: France, Mexico and Poland. The population predominantly originates from Marketing departments. The data was collected in English and in French, through in-depth interviews conducted with 49 employees in the three countries. The employees’ discourses were analysed with the content analysis method and with the help of the NVivo9 software, based on the principles of the grounded theory. This research demonstrates the flexibility of the CSR concept, as each employee is able to customise this concept. It also highlights the similarities and the differences in the importance attributed by the interviewees to the various dimensions and stakeholders of CSR, i.e. employees, providers, consumers, communities and the Environment. Finally, this research shows how representations of CSR emerge within pre-existing frameworks such as the company itself, the specificities of the country, the employee’s personal values or the profession in question.

Vliv CSR na konkurenceschopnost společnosti / Impact of CSR on business competitiveness

Fliegerová, Petra January 2010 (has links)
The topic of Corporate Social Responsibility gets the attention as companies look for ways how to re establish trust of consumers and gain legitimacy for their business activities. The goal of this thesis is to survey whether and under which conditions the CSR concept has a positive impact on competitiveness of the corporations. The thesis is built on the theoretical framework of competitiveness and CSR. The management motives for CSR implementation and integration obstacles are discussed and the concrete areas of competitiveness which might be influenced by CSR are analyzed. Theoretical knowledge is examined in automotive industry context. The empirical research analyzes those CSR activities of TPCA which strengthen its position and create competitive advantage.

Corporate Social Responsibility Indexes: Measure for Measure

Timperley, Stephen January 2008 (has links)
This thesis investigates criteria used by research agencies that publish ratings of business organisations in respect of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance and the relationship of these criteria to underlying ethical principles. Companies are rated according to CSR criteria. Observation of different rating agencies' results for the same, or similar organisations, shows a significant variation in results. Variations in rating must result either from different criteria being applied or from criteria addressing similar topics being assessed in a different way. Criteria from different rating agencies are found to be comparable. Thus if rating criteria are derived from an ethical view of the responsibilities of business organisations, then inconsistent results may be explained by variations in the ethical basis of corporate social responsibility used by agencies. Subject companies are rated under broad categories such as corporate governance, human rights and the environment. These categories contain specific criteria. My investigation compares the criteria used by major rating agencies and identifies the ethical basis, if any, that can be attributed to each criterion. The study finds that there are clearly identifiable links between a number of criteria used by each rating agency and the ethical theories selected for evaluation. Further, there is sufficient difference between the agencies to characterise each in relation to one or more of the ethical theories selected. There is inconsistency, however, within each agency's basis of principles as well as between agencies, which indicates an unsatisfactory lack of explicit relationship between the general, and reasonably consistent, definition of corporate social responsibility and application of coherent ethical principles. In practical terms around 10% of all investments in the United States, representing 2.3 trillion dollars, are invested in ethical or screened funds that rely on these and similar rating agencies results to determine CSR performance of firms. The large variation in results demonstrated in my thesis suggests that very significant financial decisions are based, at least in part, on inconsistent data. I suggest in my conclusion that if agencies were to consider, justify and clearly state the ethical basis from which their criteria derive, then investment managers and their clients could be more certain that their CSR principles were being upheld.

CSR – en ny marknadsföringsstrategi?

Sandung, Roberta, Ahlfors, Cecilia January 2009 (has links)

Tengdahl, Hedvig January 2009 (has links)
<p>Since the middle of the last decade many examples av unsustainable business activities has been revealed, while media and NGOs have shown the public that many companies have failed to take a social and environmental responsibility. Scandals involving corrupt leaders, unacceptable bonus systems and discrepancies in many company's production conditions, has unfortunately become more common. This has lead to an intense debate about company responsibility towards society, in which there are many opinions both for and against a greater responsibility. </p><p>The concept Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has arisen as a counterforce against corporate negligence and is a field in witch companies can improve their social and environmental impact on society. CSR is an umbrella term for companies economical, ethical, social and environmental responsibilities and the concept has no univocal definition. The aim with this essay is therefore thru a qualitative method, to try and describe the concept of CSR's  broad meaning. Many companies across the world are today working with CSR. To illustrate how the concept can be interpreted, this essay also contains a section that describes the two clothing companies Odd Molly and WeSCs interpretations of CSR.</p><p>Companies today work with CSR mainly because of two reasons that both have a consequential approach, where the consequences of the company's actions are supposed to be as good as possible, so that the company will gain competitive benefits on the market. The main reason companies work with CSR, is that many costumers today prefer to buy products and services from companies who take a wider responsibility towards society. The second reason is that many companies are afraid to receive a media focus that will reflect negatively over their businesses. To minimize the chances of being reviewed by media, many companies therefore choose to work with CSR "silently", which the survey of Odd Molly and WeSCs CSR-work exemplifies.</p> / <p>Sedan mitten på förra seklet har många exempel på ohållbart företagande uppdagats, då media och NGOs visat allmänheten att många företag brustit i sitt sociala och miljömässiga ansvarstagande.

Zachrisson, Linn, Haraldsson, Mimmi January 2010 (has links)
Increased employment and economic growth are two examples of the positive effects that tourism can bring. In recent years, however, the negative effects of tourism is increasingly discussed in the media, in particular the environmental issues has been highlighted. Other examples of negative effects that have been discussed are poor working conditions, child sex tourism and lack of water. All inclusive hotels have been criticized on the grounds that only small fractions of the money they earn stay with the locals. One way for tourism businesses to protect themselves against this criticism is working with CSR, which stands for Corporate Social Responsibility. CSR is about how companies are taking responsibility involving key stakeholders. The concept can be divided into three dimensions: environmentally-, socially- and economically responsible. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate, describe and analyze how tour operators work with CSR. The essay questions are: "<em>How do tour operators work with CSR</em>?" And "<em>What difficulties are the travel operators experiencing with working on CSR</em>?</p><p>In order to answer these questions, the authors have chosen a qualitative approach in form of semi- structured interviews. The sample consists of five tour operators of different sizes with slightly different emphases. A researcher in CSR and a representative from the network <em>Schyst resande</em> has also been interviewed to get a different approach to the study. Much of the theory chapter is based on various research articles in the field of CSR. All of the tour operators that were interviewed brought up that one way for them to work with CSR was by supporting local projects at the destinations they organized trips to, in the form of financial aid. The larger tour operators who were interviewed were working on all three dimensions of CSR (environmentally-, socially- and economically responsible), while the smaller operators instead chose to concentrate on one of the dimensions. One difficulty in working with CSR, which was raised at several of the interviews, was that it is difficult to get the passengers interested in CSR.</p>
