The Study and Application of Computer Software Protection

Xie, Xien-Chen 20 July 2002 (has links)
As the information technology develops rapidly, the software industry also keep growing and growing. Huge amount of capital and intelligence are being invested in developing the new software. However, it has been such a big negative impact on all software developers caused by the illegal reproduction and distribution. Therefore, besides the copyright regulations, software companies have always been concentrated on how to prevent their software from being illegally reproduced by adding protection codes. As most of the companies are not willing to reveal their protection methods, it is hard to have any chance to learn from each other's techniques and experiences. As a result, this thesis is really concentrated on collecting and categorizing as many as possible the protection coding technologies and in the end, analyzing and applying those to our own programs.

EN HANDLEDNING I DESIGN- OCH STRUKTURUTVECKLINGSFASEN AV EN WEBBPLATS : Med fokusering på användbarhet

Borgström, Eric, Tegenstam, Dan January 2007 (has links)
<p>There are a huge number of books and articles written in the field of usability and about the art of giving the user the opportunity to find the information he is trying to reach while browsing the website. The writers of these books are handling guidelines that are recommended to be followed, as well as describing their own views, ideas and theories of the subject. We found an interest to research the different possibilities, if any, to develop a website optimal for the user from a usability point of view. Another thing we noticed was that a need of a substantial guidance existed in website development aimed for recently started companies.</p><p>New theories and rules regarding usability, which are seen as superior to the old ones and therefore replaces them, is not created that often. This is different from other IT related subjects. For example, when looking at components inside of a computer, performance and disk space is doubled in a matter of a two year time period. Graphical design is also a thing that is ageing relatively fast and becomes obsolete when a new and fresh design comes along. With usability theories on the other hand it is possible to read books written ten years ago and even though all of it might not be pertinent, you can still see the big picture and find things that still counts as Reliable and correct. What we have seen is that the general opinion thinks less of usability compared to graphical design. Looking at how many pages the usability section gets in an HTML-guide or the number of books at the library’s shelves, the graphical sections outnumber the usability ones.</p><p>This report and the attached manual, which is created based on the results and questions answered throughout this report, bring the most essential usability theories to light. Subsequently they are analyzed and tied together in the latter parts of the report. The author Jacob Nielsen, which is one of the greatest usability experts in the world today, stands for a major part of what is written about the subject. we will look at different theories from Nielsen and also look at a master’s degree thesis by Fredrik Hansson (2006) which deals with a survey concerning the color of links.</p><p>The report consists of two parts; the first part is mainly about the usability theories explained above while the other part contains a basic HTML-guide as well as a style sheet-guide (CSS). These two guides prepare the users who choose to use the attached manual to create their own sites. We mainly aim our work towards the entrepreneur who is about to or has just started his own business.</p><p>The parts we focus on in this report are site design where write about site dimensions, site length and describe page headers and page footers. We also deal with implementation and typography suited for the web. Another thing we bring to light is usability on a deeper level. Not everybody knows exactly what the expression means</p><p>and we try to bring clarity to it.</p><p>The manual gives the user a description of building a website from start to finish. The basic idea is to give substantial information to the point where the users can go and create a site by themselves without any extensive prior knowledge. However, we recommend some computer knowledge.</p><p>The result of this report and the part that is described in the result section is a presentation on how a site is created based on the rest of the report. It will give answers to how a site is built in order to be as useful as possible.</p>

Webbportal för kreditlån / Web Site for credit loans

Karlsson, Daniel, Abrahamsson, Mattias January 2010 (has links)
<p>This report describes the development of a well–functioning and aesthetically appealing web portal and associated database for a company called Svensk Kredit & Försäkringsförmedling AB (Translated: Swedish Credit & Insurance intermediation AB). The portal will test customers' creditworthiness through another company called Business Check in Sweden AB.</p><p>Administrators to the web portal have a special user interface to display all customers, to disburse the money to the customer and edit customer information. A super–user interface is available for administrators where they can change the information on all administrator accounts.</p><p>Many aspects of security has been addressed because the web portal will handle personal information. The portal must also be protected against manipulation. It should not be possible for someone to manipulate the web portal. One example is the loan application form which uses a number of functions that control the input data against SQL–injection and inaccurate data.</p> / <p>Denna rapport beskriver uppbyggnaden av en väl fungerande och estetisk tilltalande webbportal med tillhörande databas till ett företag som heter Svensk Kredit & Försäkringsförmedling AB.

Sanell, Jonas, Svenningsson, Tommy January 2006 (has links)
<p>This report describes how we made a dynamic website combined with statical</p><p>web pages and a web shop for the Swedish company Tyger & Ting.</p><p>The employer Tyger & Ting wish to run a working web shop on their site but</p><p>they want to keep their old system of updating pages with their old application</p><p>from Intellyweb1, which creates statical HTML pages.</p><p>The goal of this exam paper has been to learn to create a functional web shop</p><p>with user friendly layout and appealing design and also to take orders and</p><p>fulfill wishes from a real employer.</p><p>The report is describing how Intellyweb’s application and its statical web pages</p><p>has been implemented on a dynamic web page. The report does also describe</p><p>how this site has been build and how the problems with the coding have been</p><p>solved. The coding has been made with HTML, PHP and MySQL. CSS has</p><p>also been used. The report will describe how management and storage of data</p><p>in databases has been handled.</p><p>Apart from the demands the employer has given us, a complete revamp of</p><p>Tyger & Ting’s design has been made and the result of the exam paper is now a</p><p>complete and working web site with additional web shop that supports static</p><p>web pages. The website contains 20 dynamic and static pages coded in about</p><p>1900 rows of PHP and HTML. A database with five tables of varying size has</p><p>been made to contain pictures and information about products, users and</p><p>orders.</p><p>As soon as all the products has been put into the database the web shop will be</p><p>found here: http://www.tygeroting.com</p>

An investigation of the combustive sound source

McNeese, Andrew Reed 23 December 2010 (has links)
This thesis describes the development and testing of the Combustive Sound Source (CSS), which is a broadband underwater sound source. The CSS is being developed as a clean, safe, and cost effective replacement to underwater explosive charges, which exhibit an inherent danger to marine life and researchers using the charges. The basic operation of the CSS is as follows. A combustible mixture of gas is held below the surface of the water in a combustion chamber and ignited with an electric spark. A combustion wave propagates through the mixture and converts the fuel and oxidizer into a bubble of combustion products, which expands due to an increase in temperature, and then ultimately collapses to a smaller volume than before ignition, producing a high intensity, low frequency acoustic signal. The thesis begins by discussing the background, history, and purpose of developing the CSS. It continues by describing the current apparatus and the essential components and convenient features added to the latest mechanical design. The general operation is discussed along with a description of an experiment conducted to determine the acoustic output and robustness of the current CSS. The results of this experiment are presented in terms of the effect of volume, ignition depth, oxidizing gas, combustion chamber size, and repeatability of acoustic signatures. Discussion of apparatus robustness is presented to suggest improvements for future CSS designs. / text

Rooftop Gardening in an Urban Setting: Impacts and Implications

Barreiro, Lisa 16 April 2012 (has links)
Research on green roofs has focused on grasses, sedums, and forbs. The aims of this thesis were to determine the potential of rooftop gardens (RTGs) in an urban setting to reduce local levels of CO2, remediate storm water runoff, and provide boutique vegetables for a restaurant. The garden roof footprint was 238 ft2, with 14% covered by vegetated boxes. The soil mixture used had 96% absorbency with 54.12 gallons of the 55 gallons of precipitation that fell within the rain catcher boxes absorbed. Total biomass production was 37.98 Kg of wet biomass and 5.04 Kg of dry biomass. The amount of CO2 removed equals 0.22 Kg ft-2. RTGs have a limited capacity to help sequester CO2, but retain precipitation in amounts similar to green roofs. The restaurant was provided with 4.7 Kg (wet weight) of produce (several varieties of tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant). These results support the utility of RTGs. / Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences / Environmental Science and Management (ESM) / MS / Thesis

Reservoir Simulation Used to Plan Diatomite Developement in Mountainous Region

Powell, Richard 2012 August 1900 (has links)
In Santa Barbara County, Santa Maria Pacific (an exploration and production company) is expanding their cyclic steam project in a diatomite reservoir. The hilly or mountainous topography and cut and fill restrictions have interfered with the company's ideal development plan. The steep hillsides prevent well pad development for about 22 vertical well locations in the 110 well expansion plan. Conventional production performs poorly in the area because the combination of relatively low permeability (1-10 md) and high viscosity (~220 cp) at the reservoir temperature. Cyclic steam injection has been widely used in diatomite reservoirs to take advantage of the diatomite rocks unique properties and lower the viscosity of the oil. Some companies used deviated wells for cyclic steam injection, but Santa Maria Pacific prefers the use only vertical wells for the expansion. Currently, the inability to create well pads above 22 vertical well target locations will result in an estimated $60,000,000 of lost revenue over a five year period. The target locations could be developed with unstimulated deviated or horizontal wells, but expected well rates and expenses have not been estimated. In this work, I use a thermal reservoir simulator to estimate production based on five potential development cases. The first case represents no development other than the cyclic wells. This case is used to calibrate the model based on the pilot program performance and serves as a reference point for the other cases. Two of the cases simulate a deviated well with and without artificial lift next to a cyclic well, and the final two cases simulate a horizontal well segment with and without artificial lift next to a cyclic well. The deviated well with artificial lift results in the highest NPV and profit after five years. The well experienced pressure support from the neighboring cyclic well and performed better with the cyclic well than without it. Adding 22 deviated wells with artificial lift will increase the project's net profit by an estimated $7,326,000 and NPV by $2,838,000 after five years.

Postupy tvorby responsivního designu / Procedures of responsive design creating

Modrý, Lukáš January 2016 (has links)
This Master's thesis focuses on the issue of responsive design creation and comparison of the particular patterns aiming to customizable website. The theoretical part discusses the majority of available possibilities for achieving a responsive design and their general purpose. The practical part covers the use of the particular patterns on the specific web presentation. The thesis includes three similar websites using the responsive design particular patterns without frontend frameworks and, subsequently, their utilization. Their testing served as a means for recommendation for the practice. Another part of the thesis is the summarization of cascading style sheets development with the focus on the responsive design and comparison of two frontend frameworks selected by the author.
