Webbshop för Tyger & Ting

This report describes how we made a dynamic website combined with statical web pages and a web shop for the Swedish company Tyger & Ting. The employer Tyger & Ting wish to run a working web shop on their site but they want to keep their old system of updating pages with their old application from Intellyweb1, which creates statical HTML pages. The goal of this exam paper has been to learn to create a functional web shop with user friendly layout and appealing design and also to take orders and fulfill wishes from a real employer. The report is describing how Intellyweb’s application and its statical web pages has been implemented on a dynamic web page. The report does also describe how this site has been build and how the problems with the coding have been solved. The coding has been made with HTML, PHP and MySQL. CSS has also been used. The report will describe how management and storage of data in databases has been handled. Apart from the demands the employer has given us, a complete revamp of Tyger & Ting’s design has been made and the result of the exam paper is now a complete and working web site with additional web shop that supports static web pages. The website contains 20 dynamic and static pages coded in about 1900 rows of PHP and HTML. A database with five tables of varying size has been made to contain pictures and information about products, users and orders. EN HANDLEDNING I DESIGN- OCH STRUKTURUTVECKLINGSFASEN AV EN WEBBPLATS : Med fokusering på användbarhet

There are a huge number of books and articles written in the field of usability and about the art of giving the user the opportunity to find the information he is trying to reach while browsing the website. The writers of these books are handling guidelines that are recommended to be followed, as well as describing their own views, ideas and theories of the subject. We found an interest to research the different possibilities, if any, to develop a website optimal for the user from a usability point of view. Another thing we noticed was that a need of a substantial guidance existed in website development aimed for recently started companies. New theories and rules regarding usability, which are seen as superior to the old ones and therefore replaces them, is not created that often. This is different from other IT related subjects. For example, when looking at components inside of a computer, performance and disk space is doubled in a matter of a two year time period. Graphical design is also a thing that is ageing relatively fast and becomes obsolete when a new and fresh design comes along. With usability theories on the other hand it is possible to read books written ten years ago and even though all of it might not be pertinent, you can still see the big picture and find things that still counts as Reliable and correct. What we have seen is that the general opinion thinks less of usability compared to graphical design. Looking at how many pages the usability section gets in an HTML-guide or the number of books at the library’s shelves, the graphical sections outnumber the usability ones. This report and the attached manual, which is created based on the results and questions answered throughout this report, bring the most essential usability theories to light. Subsequently they are analyzed and tied together in the latter parts of the report. The author Jacob Nielsen, which is one of the greatest usability experts in the world today, stands for a major part of what is written about the subject. we will look at different theories from Nielsen and also look at a master’s degree thesis by Fredrik Hansson (2006) which deals with a survey concerning the color of links. The report consists of two parts; the first part is mainly about the usability theories explained above while the other part contains a basic HTML-guide as well as a style sheet-guide (CSS). These two guides prepare the users who choose to use the attached manual to create their own sites. We mainly aim our work towards the entrepreneur who is about to or has just started his own business. The parts we focus on in this report are site design where write about site dimensions, site length and describe page headers and page footers. We also deal with implementation and typography suited for the web. Another thing we bring to light is usability on a deeper level. Not everybody knows exactly what the expression means and we try to bring clarity to it. The manual gives the user a description of building a website from start to finish. The basic idea is to give substantial information to the point where the users can go and create a site by themselves without any extensive prior knowledge. However, we recommend some computer knowledge. The result of this report and the part that is described in the result section is a presentation on how a site is created based on the rest of the report. It will give answers to how a site is built in order to be as useful as possible.

FLB Logistik i Gävle är en lagerfirma som arbetar med lagerhållning och logistik åt andra stora företag. FLB har idag en webbsida där deras kunder kan logga in och se saldo och produkter som de lagerhåller. Problemet är att denna webbsida saknar en ”orderläggningsmodul”, en funktion där deras kunder kan lägga beställningar på pallar som de vill ha utkörda. Beställningar görs idag via e-post eller telefon till anställda hos FLB Logistik, som i sin tur skriver in alla beställningar manuellt i ett system. En ”orderläggningsmodul” skulle underlätta arbetet både för företaget och för deras kunder. En prototyp skapades av en ”orderläggningsmodul” och testas av företaget och deras kunder. Denna prototyp byggs sedan skarpt av företagets systemutvecklare. Skapandet av prototypen görs med hjälp av HTML, CSS, JavaScript och PHP. En MySQL-databas används för att lagra information om beställningar, pallar, osv. Prototypen uppfyller alla de krav på funktioner som tagits fram tillsammans med företaget.

This report describes the development of a well–functioning and aesthetically appealing web portal and associated database for a company called Svensk Kredit & Försäkringsförmedling AB (Translated: Swedish Credit & Insurance intermediation AB). The portal will test customers' creditworthiness through another company called Business Check in Sweden AB. Administrators to the web portal have a special user interface to display all customers, to disburse the money to the customer and edit customer information. A super–user interface is available for administrators where they can change the information on all administrator accounts. Many aspects of security has been addressed because the web portal will handle personal information. The portal must also be protected against manipulation. It should not be possible for someone to manipulate the web portal. One example is the loan application form which uses a number of functions that control the input data against SQL–injection and inaccurate data. / Denna rapport beskriver uppbyggnaden av en väl fungerande och estetisk tilltalande webbportal med tillhörande databas till ett företag som heter Svensk Kredit & Försäkringsförmedling AB. Webbportalen ska testa kunders kreditvärdighet med hjälp av ett annat företag som heter Business Check i Sverige AB. Administratörerna till webbportalen har ett speciellt användargränssnitt för att kunna lista alla kunder, kunna betala ut lån och redigera kundinformation. Även ett superanvändargränssnitt finns tillgängligt för administratörerna där de kan ändra information om alla administratörskonton. Många aspekter inom säkerhet har diskuterats då webbportalen ska vara driftsäker och personuppgifter ska omhändertas. Webbportalen måste även vara skyddad för manipulation så inte användare ska kunna ändra webbportalens funktioner till sin fördel. Ett exempel på detta är låneansökningsformuläret som använder sig av ett flertal funktioner som kontrollerar de inmatade uppgifterna mot SQL–injektion och felaktiga uppgifter.

I arbetet undersöks hur olika animationstekniker på webben presterar utifrån mätningar av FPS och animeringstid. De tekniker som används är CSS3, jQuery och GreenSock Animation Platform. Arbetet är relevant då animationer på nätet blir allt vanligare och kraven på webbsidors snabbhet och respons samtidigt högre. Implementationen som mätningarna sker på består av en webbsida för varje animationsteknik innehållandes tre olika typer av animationer (övergångar, animationer av flera attribut och rotationer i 3D). Detta för att testa hur olika typer av animationer behandlas av de olika teknikerna. Vidare förekommer komplettering till mätningarna i form av användarstudier. Resultatet visar på att jQuery presterar sämre än CSS och GreenSock. De två sistnämnda håller liknande resultat men skiljer sig på specifika animationstyper. Arbetet är fullt återupprepningsbart och går i framtiden att utveckla på många olika punkter som t.ex. tillägg av fler tekniker eller testning på annan hårdvara.

The application is created for academical purposes, especially for future research of visualization on the map. The theoretical part describes the basic concepts and technologies used in map applications and description of used technologies and technical tools used during implementation. The practical part describes application design, data storage and application testing. At the end of this thesis is discussed, possible application extension and application applicability in practice.

The project is about a GS1-verified input system Prevas GCM, which is a web service for suppliers to send article information to receivers. With the current system the suppliers need to select each receiver individually when sending information. The purpose with the project is to develop a system that let suppliers create receivers groups from receivers. The preparatory work consist of create prototypes in Adobe XD. Thereafter the web application produced in two steps. The project has mostly used the programming language JavaScript together with AG-Grid. In addition html and css have been used. The result was a almost launch-ready product with minor fixes left. / Projektet har handlat om GS1-verifierat inmatningssystemet Prevas GCM, som är en webbtjänst som låter leverantörer skicka ut artikelinformation till mottagare. Den nuvarande lösningen innebär att leverantörerna måste välja alla mottagare enskilt. Syftet med projektet blev att utveckla en webbapplikation som låter leverantörer skapa mottagargrupper av mottagare. Förarbetet bestod av att skapa prototyper i Adobe XD. Därefter har webbapplikation tagits fram i två steg. Projektet har huvudsakligen använt programmeringsspråket JavaScript ihop med AG-Grid. Utöver det har HTML och CSS används. Resultatet blev nästan en lanserings-klar produkt med mindre fix kvar.
