Kök på väg : utformning av pentryt i framtidens husvagn

Franevik, Malin January 2011 (has links)
The home environment has been given a larger space and has become increasingly important in our lives. We like to be in the kitchen, the heart of home, where we hang out while we cook. Caravan manufacturers have also understood the importance of designing and offers the customers to style some parts of the caravan themselves from their own ideas. It can be a matter of planning, colour scheme or choice of textile fabrics, all to make the caravan feel cosy and intimate. According to Cabby the caravan becomes more and more like home, both in appearance and comfort. It should feel like home even though you are on the road. Cabby and dealers interviewed said that women have a great influence on their partners, if there is going to be a purchase or not. First impression plays a major role and usually it is the kitchen you see first when you walk into the caravan. The commission was to review colour, shape and function from an ergonomic perspective in an already existing L-shaped built kitchen, in a model designed for two people. Multi-functional solutions that open up more space and storage were requested. The purpose of this study was to identify the sectors in the kitchen to be developed, where the idea was to link together the caravan kitchen with the home kitchen, to create a user-friendly and functional kitchenette offering good working space and flexibility. Two surveys were made, one where the caravan users were asked how well their caravan meets their needs, and one where men and women were asked to answer similar questions regarding how homekitchens meets their needs. The analyses showed that the needs of caravan users foremost concern the working space, which is not large and flexible enough. 75% of the users asked were cooking their food from scratch. For women it was among other things important to be able to adjust the working space to their needs and also be able to work and socialize with several people at the same time. The location analysis showed numerous factors, including the unused space under the worktop and the cabinet doors, which can cause injuries. The result was a kitchenette with clever storage, more like a home kitchen with flexible working spaces, clean lines and angular forms, unlike the current kitchen with its circular design. The solution allows several people to cook and hang out in and around the kitchenette. The results were presented together with a completed prototype.

Integration Of Gis Techniques With Tourism Planning A Case Study: Bodrum Peninsula, Mugla, Turkey

Erkin, Eda 01 February 2010 (has links) (PDF)
Tourism is an important economic activity in our country as it is all around the world. It is also defined as an industry which is related to other economical sectors. Therefore, governments need to manage, develop and market the tourism facilities so that tourism industry can help economical growth effectively. Tourism planning means to manage large amount of data. Therefore, it is desirable to integrate Geographic Information Systems and also Remote Sensing to planning. The aim of the thesis is to define how to increase the contributions of GIS for site selection purposes for new tourism types. The case study is chosen as Bodrum Peninsula that is the hearth of Turkey in tourism sector. The fast and unplanned tourism development is causing some problems in nature, transportation, social and technical infrastructure of Bodrum. Summer houses, hotels, holiday villages are built up increasingly, so a huge difference occurs between winter (97.000) and summer (1.500.000) populations, which produce one of the reasons for problems. In this study, new tourism types, which are camping, caravanning, grass-skiing, site-parachuting and biking activities, are suggested in Bodrum Peninsula. Site selection process for these types is performed according to the requirements defined by the Youth and Sport Association. Slope, aspect, and proximity analyses are performed in order to find the suitable areas for each tourism type. Then, analytical hierarchy process technique is used to give weight to each criterion to emphasize their effects. Finally, site selection results are compared with the environmental plan.

Nature Connectedness & Winter Camping : A Combination of Quantitative and Qualitative Approaches

Vroegop, John January 2015 (has links)
A growing body of research indicates that nature connectedness should be an important component of environmental education programs as emerging empirical evidence shows a correlation between connectedness to nature and environmentally responsible behaviour. Despite an increased interest in further examination of the human-nature relationship, research is lacking in terms of specific factors or conditions that influence nature connectedness. In this study, a mixed methods approach was employed to quantitatively assess the impact winter camping had on nature connectedness and then qualitatively determine specific components of the camp experience that influenced this sense of nature connectedness. Nineteen scouts participated on a three day winter camp at Manning Park in British Columba, Canada, where they experienced many challenges such as sleeping in quinzees (snow caves) and learned new skills such as snowshoeing. The Nature Relatedness Scale was used to assess nature connectedness in this study. A pre-test was administered a few days before the winter camp and the post-test two days afterwards. The results from the paired sample T-test show that there was a statistically significant improvement in nature connectedness following the winter camp experience. Eleven scouts were then selected to participate in semi-structured interviews with the aim of gaining insight to the specific conditions of winter camping that influenced nature connectedness. The results indicate that the location of the camp, the condition of being immersed in nature, interacting with wildlife, the positive experience of challenges, the presence of risk, and freedom from technology are all contributing factors that influenced a sense o f nature connectedness. An increased environmental awareness was also a prevalent theme which supports research suggesting that there is a positive relationship between nature connectedness and pro-environmental behaviour. It is recommended that programs with the aim of promoting nature connectedness or environmental awareness should include as many of these components as possible. Further research should alsobe conducted to confirm that these results apply also to other populations as these results cannot be generalized with a sample size of nineteen.

Weather and Camping in Ontario Parks

Hewer, Micah Joel January 2012 (has links)
Climate and weather have a major influence over seasonality in nature-based tourism by determining the availability and quality of certain outdoor recreational activities (Butler, 2001). Climate and weather act as central motivators involved in the travel decisions of tourists (Mintel International Group, 1991; Kozak, 2002). Climate as an attraction is also an integral component considered in destination choice among tourists (Lohmann and Kaim, 1999; Hamilton and Lau, 2005; Gössling et al. 2006). Due to the relationship between climate, weather and outdoor recreation, climate change is expected to have a direct impact on park visitation and camper decision-making (Jones and Scott, 2006a; 2006b). This study contributes to the understanding of weather sensitivity for different tourism segments across varying climate zones world-wide which can contribute to more informed park tourism planning and climate change adaptation in Ontario. Using a survey-based approach, this study identified and compared the stated weather preferences and weather related decision-making of campers from two different provincial parks in Ontario. The two provincial parks selected as case studies, based on differing park characteristics and perceived climatic requirements, were Pinery and Grundy Lake. Statistically significant differences (at the 95 percent confidence level) were observed in stated weather preferences and weather related decision-making, based on differences in respondent characteristics. Most notably, activity participation, length of planned stay and age of the respondent had the most significant and widespread effect on weather preferences and camper decision-making. Temperature preferences between the two parks were strikingly similar. However, differences in weather related decision-making were statistically significant showing campers at Pinery to be more sensitive to weather than those at Grundy Lake. Overall, parks that are more beach-oriented, closer to tourism generating areas and are characterised by visitors with shorter than average lengths of stay, are likely to be the most sensitive to weather variability. As such, it will be most important for parks that rely on similar tourism generating markets and share similar park characteristics as Pinery, to place a greater planning emphasis on climate change adaptation, as these parks are likely to be most affected by the impact of climate change on park visitation in Ontario. Climatic warming was not perceived by campers as a major threat to park visitation in Ontario. Instead, heavy rain, strong winds and unacceptably cool temperatures were the most influential weather variables in relation to camper decision-making. In response to the perceived threat of heavy rain and strong winds to camping in Ontario, and in association with projected increases pertaining to the frequency and intensity of these weather events under climate change, a number of recommendations have been made, which could be implemented by Ontario Parks in an effort to reduce camper vulnerability to extreme weather and improve overall trip satisfaction.
