Los españoles y españolas republicanos que debieron cruzar los Pirineos en 1939 para huir de las represalias franquistas y fueron luego internados en campos de concentración franceses, dejaron huella de esta experiencia en numerosos testimonios, los cuales han sido escritos y publicados desde momentos muy cercanos a los acontecimientos hasta la actualidad. La tesis pretende, entonces, trazar una historia del testimonio que atiende a una doble perspectiva: por un lado, al análisis de las estrategias textuales que los sujetos han puesto en marcha para representar la experiencia traumática; y por otro lado, a la reflexión sobre las circunstancias en que estos discursos se han publicado y han sido recibidos. En cuanto a lo primero, la investigación se detiene especialmente en los problemas relacionados con la construcción del narrador, el "yo testimonial", a sus desplazamientos y transformaciones, así como también a la representación del espacio y de los vínculos que se estrechan entre éste y el sujeto en el texto. Acerca de lo segundo, se ha incidido en el estudio de los modos de intervención de los discursos en los diversos y cambiantes espacios socio-históricos en los que han circulado. Para ello, los elementos de orden paratextual han aportado significaciones de alta relevancia para pensar cómo han sido leídos y utilizados estos discursos. La hipótesis planteada adquirió una estructura dialéctica: estos relatos testimoniales, que buscan cumplir una función referencial –es decir, no mediada por una explícita intención literaria ni por la voluntad de hacer ficción a partir de la experiencia vivida–, han aportado saberes acerca de los acontecimientos pasados en sus diferentes contextos de recepción y, al mismo tiempo, las circunstancias políticas y sociales en que han surgido han influido en los procedimientos narrativos utilizados por los testigos para representar la vivencia de los campos de concentración. / Spanish republicans who crossed the Pyrenees in 1939 escaping reprisals by Franco´s Dictatorship, subsequently interned in French concentration camps, left a trace of this experience in many testimonies that have been written and published since early on the time of the events until now. This thesis aims to draw a history of the testimony attending to a double perspective: the analysis of textual strategies witnesses developed to represent the traumatic experience and the reflection on the circumstances in which the discourse has been published and received. On the analysis, the research focuses on issues regarding the construction of a narrator, named as “yo testimonial”, his changes and displacements, as well as on the representation of space and the links between the “yo testimonial” and the subject in the text. On the circumstances, the thesis goes into a study of ways of intervention testimonies develop on the various and changing socio-historical contexts in which they have circulated. For that, the paratextual elements offer relevant meanings in order to think how these discourses have been read, and how they have been used. The hypothesis was formulated in a dialectical way: these testimonies assume a referential function –meaning with no literary intention or willingness to make fiction from the experience–providing knowledge about the past events. At the same time, political and social circumstances have influenced the narrative strategies practiced by the witnesses to represent the experience at the concentration camps.
