Descriptive-exploratory research carried out in the Middle West Region of Brazil. The sample was comprised of 63 nurses and 141 students of graduation courses on nursing. Data were collected by the researcher, who used the applied questionnaire as an instrument, after approval of the project by the Research Ethics Committee of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo - PUCSP. The spiritual values of education of the new nursing professionals were discussed. It is believed that more than offering drugs, the professionals need to know how to listen to the patient and his/her family, work for prevention and take care of the individual as an active agent in the healing process. In the academic education, the new professionals need a space that assures them religious knowledge for the spiritual assistance. The autonomy of the patient must be the conductor axis to introduce the spirituality in the practice. Finally, among other aspects, it is believed that the faith of the clients is a positive power for the faster recovery; that doing and taking care must be turned to the humanized integral assistance and that the nurse must take care of the clients rather than the disease, besides providing full assistance according to the needs. We are sure that our thesis brought many possibilities to touch those who work in the area of health!

No. of bitstreams: 1 PetalaTCOS_DISSERT.pdf: 3029424 bytes, checksum: 7f4d8e22f4b1bd2dfdeb31b4502e88e7 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-08-16 / This study aimed to understand the typical ideal of the nursing technician about the systematization of nursing care in the light of the theoretical framework of Alfred Schutz. It is a comprehensive phenomenological research, using the theoretical framework of Alfred Schutz. For the unveiling of the phenomenon (the typical ideal of the nursing technician about the systematization of nursing care), the search process was configured from the proposed guiding principles for a research methodology based on the work itself of Schutz held by Zeferino (2010) in his PhD. For data collection, we used the focus group technique, counting on the collaboration of thirteen practical nurses working in a university hospital in Rio Grande do Norte, who responded positively to the inclusion criteria: working in the study hospital, performing care direct to patients. Forty-four subjects showed interest in participating, being held a draw for selection of the research sample, consisting of 14 professionals, one of whom did not attend the gathering of data collection. The focus group, entitled "What I think about the systematization of nursing care", took place on February 15th, 2013, totaling 101 minutes. It was performed according to the Experiential Education Humanescent using building posters as projective technique, from the key question: "What is the systematization of nursing care for you?". In order to understand some of the biographical situation of the participants, a questionnaire was administered to study participants. From the agreement of the subjects, the focus group was recorded and photographed with the cooperation of one reporter and two other employees. We used Microsoft Word 2010 to perform the transcript of the meeting and Microsoft Excel 2010 for synthesizing the results via a spreadsheet. The study followed the ethical and legal principles that govern scientific research on humans, recommended in Resolution n? 196/96, it was approved by Opinion Embodied Ethics Committee in Research of UFRN (Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte), n? 98 424, of August 31th, 2012, CAAE No. 05906912.0.0000.5537. The analysis of the nursing staff speeches, along with the contemplation of their posters and their written descriptions, allowed from the guiding principles of Zeferino (2010), in light of the reference of Alfred Schutz, unveiling the typical ideal of nursing technicians about the systematization of nursing care, passing four themes: typing of the concept of systematization of nursing care; benefits, which resulted in the reasons to believe in the positivity of this working tool; experienced problems, revealing the world of everyday life of nursing professionals, and possibilities for improvement. It was concluded that the nursing technicians are unaware of the systematization of nursing care. However, they typify a very positive perception about the same, especially with regard to improvements that may foster care / Objetivou-se compreender o t?pico ideal do t?cnico de enfermagem acerca da sistematiza??o da assist?ncia de enfermagem, ? luz do referencial te?rico de Alfred Schutz.

Aplikace ošetřovatelského modelu Kathryn Barnardové u dítěte s tělesným handicapem / Application of the Kathryn Barnard nursing care model to the physically handicapped child

STRNADOVÁ, Eva January 2010 (has links)
Physical disability/physical handicap is an affection that is manifested by either temporary or permanent problems in motor diathesis of children. Physically disabled children may suffer from physical disability either from their birth or may acquire physical disability in the course of their lives. These problems may act in a negative manner on children perception and feeling and the same holds good for their near relatives. Problems come into existence in parent-physically handicapped child interrelation. The nursing model of Ms. Kathryn Barnard focuses on mutual interaction between parents and their children. In her model Ms. Kathryn Barnard points out the importance of the aforementioned parent-physically handicapped child interrelationship. On the basis of evaluation of the parent-child interactions based on three main factors: a child, mother, environment, a general child development is determined. The parent-child interaction affects a child development, child{\crq}s health, growth and development of a child. The aim of nursing care is to assist in finding a proper way of parent- physically disabled child interaction so that the nursing care may act on general development of a child in a positive manner. In this diploma work the following goal has been set: to find out and identify the most important problems existing in the parent-physically disabled child relation, and to evaluate possibilities of nursing care in solving problems arising at the parent-physically disabled child interaction. For the purpose of meeting these goals the following research questions has been established: What are the most important problems in the parent-physically handicapped child interaction? How can nursing care help in the parent-physically handicapped child interaction? What is the proper procedure for the nursing care of a physically disabled child and his/her close relatives? After carrying out research examinations the answers to the above-specified questions are as follows: 1. The most important problems lying in the parent-physically disabled child interaction are as follows: parent to reconcile himself/herself with his/her child's diagnosis, more frequent occurrence of stress situations, excessive emotional ties of the physically handicapped child with his/her nursing personnel. 2. The nurse can help by means of nursing process in an active manner solve the above-specified problems in interrelation between parent-physically handicapped children. On the basis of information having been gained by the study of professional literature and pieces of information obtained from the answers of the parents of physically disabled children a nursing documentation has been made in accordance with the Kathryn Barnard interaction model as well as nursing care standard of physically handicapped children. By finishing it both the third and fourth aims have been accomplished. Nurses providing care for physically disabled children have used the nursing documentation and it has proved useful and nursing personnel declared it satisfactory. The nursing documentation and the standard should help nurses in providing quality nursing care of physically handicapped children.

Sebepéče jako projev autonomie člověka v procesu péče / Self-care as a Sign of Autonomy in the Health Care Process

Halmo, Renata January 2013 (has links)
Thesis: The main contribution of D. Orem's self-care theory is that, using adequate methods, it leads the nurses to respect patients' own conception of self-care. Key words: Patient - nurse relationships, Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory, D. E. Orem, human actions, respect for autonomy, NANDA taxonomy, non-compliance, responsibility. This dissertation thesis deals with the issues of a relationship between a patient and a healthcare worker, or more precisely a nurse, all from the point of view of patient self-care in the sense of deliberate action that is conducted by the patient for the purpose of sustaining their health and realizing their life plans. Ethical aspects of Orem's Self-Care Deficit Theory consist in the approach to a person that emphasizes the human nature of a human being that develops within the community - among other people, that becomes unique and that cares about their own being. Self-care deficit nursing theory is compared to NANDA taxonomy II with respect to a patient's autonomy. Both approaches to nursing care are studied from the point of view of their assumptions, theoretical basis, the diagnostic process, communication, personal competence of nurses and the aims of health care. Attention is also paid to the situations when a patient is not willing to take part in the...

They have gained notoriety due to the excessive use of invasive technologies and a high number of cesarean sections, in which Brazil ranks first in the world scale. One of the drivers of these changes was the launch by the World Health Organization in 1985 of the document entitled "Appropriate technologies for childbirth and birth". This document has promoted the adoption of good practices in care delivery and birth, capable of breaking with traditional models of intervention at delivery and birth, through new methodologies and intervention technologies aimed at the humanization of childbirth. Based on this proposal, the present study aimed as its general objective: To implement the good practices of attention to childbirth and birth, recommended by the World Health Organization, in a medium-sized Hospital Obstetric Unit. As specific objectives, this study considered: Know the professionals' perception professionals of an obstetric hospital unit on the good practices of attention to childbirth and birth, recommended by the World Health Organization; and, Describe the construction and validation steps of a construct of good practices of attention to childbirth and birth, to be implemented in an Obstetric Unit of habitual risk. In order to meet the first specific objective, a qualitative research was carried out, using the focal group technique, with the participation of the multidisciplinary team of the Obstetric Unit of habitual risk, of a medium-sized institution, from April to June 2016. The second specific objective was taken from a methodological survey, carried out between August and October 2016, with the participation of 12 judges from the obstetric area, national level, between the first and second round Delphi. From the data resulting from the first specific objective and codified by content analysis, three thematic categories emerged: good practices and their meanings; from the biological character to the singular and multidimensional care; from the punctual and fragmented conception to the network of attention to childbirth and birth. It was concluded that good practices in childbirth care and birth, in addition to making it possible to rethink the obstetric model and contribute to the organization of the maternal and child health care network, stimulate the role of women in their multiple dimensions. In response to the second specific objective, was obtained, in the judges' analysis, a return of 12 instruments evaluated in the first round and seven instruments in the second round Delphi. In the first round, significant suggestions for changes were made in relation to the items of the dimensions of the construct, in which the judges presented convergences in relation to the mission, vision and values, but suggested changes in the item "assignments of each professional in the team". The construct was considered valid, both in content and appearance, and could contribute to subsidize good practices of attention to childbirth care and birth in local and national territory. It is concluded that, besides the governmental initiatives, it is necessary that the health professionals are responsible for and assume the good practices of attention to childbirth and birth as a possibility of transformation of the obstetric model. As a way of broadening the reflections and qualifying the good practices of attention to childbirth and birth at the Obstetric Unit, the origin institution of the principal researcher, she presented to the managers and multi professional team the validated construct, in days and at times previously scheduled. In addition, a graphical representation of the Construct of Good Practices of Attention to Childbirth and Birth, validated by the Judges of the obstetric area, was prepared, which will be exposed at the main entrance of the Obstetric Unit in question.

Experiences of dementia care workers in nursing homes : an exploratory study comparing Canada, Scotland, and the United States

Johnson, Roxanna H. January 2014 (has links)
This comparative research explores the work experiences of dementia care workers in nursing homes. The aim of this study is to understand concepts central to care and to gain insights from the care workers‟ perspectives. A comparative framework and symbolic interactionist approach is used to analyse data collected using ethnographic methods from 59 dementia care workers in Canada, Scotland, and the United States. The fieldwork settings are institutionalised; dominated by for-profit ownership; and provide care for a resident population with high cognitive and physical needs. The comparative findings underscore the importance of work conditions that provide care workers with sufficient resources to do their job and enough time to complete their work. The absence of these critical components creates stressful work conditions for the care workers. The lack of time, staff and supplies such as towels, wash cloths, and continence products do not allow the residents‟ choices in their care and disregard their dignity and rights. The inability to deliver care for the residents according to the guaranteed government care standards often result in the violation of human rights for the care workers and residents. The care workers are unable to supply the quality of care they know the residents need and are capable of providing given better circumstances. There are frequently not enough care workers, resources, or time to meet the level of care that relevant standards mandate or the care workers know is possible. The analysis reveals that care workers struggle to provide more than basic physical care and are seldom able to meet essential social care needs for the residents. Unwritten rules are implemented in each setting that include separating people with dementia, placing these residents out of view of the public, not allowing the residents access to go outside, and not providing them with engaging and meaningful interactions. While policies are frequently developed with good intentions, many are counter-productive without dementia knowledge. This comparative research reveals care practices and routines share strong similarities across the fieldwork sites while the care worker characteristics as a workforce vary the most between countries. Some differences involve the training required, average age, pay and mode of dress or appearances. Too often researchers frame stress issues for care workers as problems with attitudes, motivation, training and incentives. Yet, the broader social structures and conditions that set the context in which these problems have their origins are commonly ignored. Good working conditions for care workers are precursors to good care for the residents. This thesis concludes with recommendations for practice, research and policy development.

Role sestry ve screeningu deprese u seniorů. / Role of the nurse in screening for depression in the elderly.

VRZALOVÁ, Monika January 2016 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with problems of depression in older people. Mainly the work is focused on identifying and analyzing the role of nurses in screening for depression in older people in primary care, acute care, long-term care and home care. This thesis was focused on theoretical direction and was used the method of design and demonstration. In this thesis was set one main goals with five research questions. The main goal was to identify and analyze the role of nurses in screening for depression in the elderly. RQ 1: What is the role of the nurse in screening for depression in the elderly? RQ 2: What is the role of the nurse in the primary care in screening for depression in the elderly? RQ 3: What is the role of the nurse in screening for depression in hospitalized patients in acute care? RQ 4: What is the role of the nurse in screening for depression in seniors in long-term and home care? RQ 5: What rating scales and methods are used in screening for depression in the elderly? The thesis introduce the concept of depression. The following are specified the causes of and the important factors that affect depression in the elderly. It also deals the differences in the clinical symptomatology of depression in old age. It explains possibilities and various barriers in the diagnosis of depression. Another chapter introduces complete geriatric examination, diagnostic classification systems, possible screening methods and scales for detection of depression in the elderly population. It also deals methods of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment and its possible complications associated with older age. By reason of increased suicide rate caused by depressive disorder the issue of suicidal behavior in the elderly is introduced. The next chapter deals with the nursing process, which is used by nurses in practice. It consists of the evaluation of the patient's health condition, making nursing diagnosis, creating nursing plan and subsequent implementation and evaluation. The nursing process is also needy for providing quality care. The nursing process in the stage of nursing diagnosis, introduces possible nursing diagnosis for a patient suffering from depression, which are based on the latest classification. Finally is described the role of nurses in screening for depression in the elderly in different health facilities and their contribution to the timely evaluation of depression in the elderly. This chapter introduces the role of nurses, nursing screening and collaboration with a physician. The role of nurses in screening for depression in different medical facilities is based on the first phase of the nursing process of assessment. On the basis of objective and subjective information, the nurse will assess the overall health and mental condition of the patient. Primarily, it was investigated what is the role of the nurse in screening for depression. On the basis of content analysis and synthesis it was necessary to used and processed domestic and foreign literature. A number of relevant sources are the results of various studies and Meta-analyzes, mostly from abroad, but also from the Czech Republic. The thesis can serve as a basis for nurses. The result of this thesis is to create e-learning material available for students in the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice in the tutorial called Moodle.
