Domov pro seniory / Senior house

Fikar, Matěj January 2014 (has links)
This thesis addresses building of a new home for seniors with a special care on the street Zahradni in Pilsen. The relevant estate lies on the compound of a former paper mill on the right bank of the Radbuza river near the Papirensky bridge. When the proposition for the building was being drafted, an extra focus was placed on the special care regime. This means continuous home and nursing care with medical oversight including a guaranteed care for patients with special needs, such as those suffering from dementia, Alzheimer's disease or those with psychiatric issues in a stabilized stage. The proposed capacity of the home for the Aged consists of 142 beds in three above-ground floors, which also contain lounges that double as canteens. The underground floor houses the kitchen whit catering equipments, which will only be used for this object, the main lounge, exercise and creative areas, as well as staff rooms including those of the management. This type of a facility is currently in great demand in the Czech Republic due to the insufficient capacity of similar social and health facilities.

L'Hôtellerie bruxelloise, 1880-1940: acteurs, structures et logiques spatiales d'un secteur multiforme / Brussels Hotel Industry, 1880-1940: actors, structures and spatial logics of a multi-form sector.

Jourdain, Virginie 09 December 2011 (has links)

------------

Beyond the prospects offered by the first historical studies in the field of hospitality, we wanted to show through this thesis how temporary accommodation in the city could not be seen as a one-dimensional sector. Hotel should not be considered as an industry exclusively focused on wealthy tourists habits, or be confined to the wretched workers pensions. Between these two extremes, different houses offered specific services to a multitude of clients. Brussels, as a capital city, allows adopting a broad angle for studying the urban temporary hospitality industry between 1880 and 1940.Our study focuses on three main points.
First of all, we have extensively analyzed our subject’s nature to exceed the arbitrary simplifications previously done between tourism hotel and other forms of inns. Therefore, first chapter attaches to give meaning to accommodations’ different implementations in the city (as hotels, boarding houses, palaces…) by studying their definitions in dictionaries, literature, professional press, legislative texts, etc.
In the second part, we gave a face and a voice to this Brussels hotel industry by specifically identifying its hoteliers, its professional associations and its leaders. Central point of our presentation, the ancient and traditional negative image of the hotel industry still exists in the 19th and 20th c. Hoteliers’ self perception is profoundly influenced by this negative reputation. These opinions feed luxury hotels’ desperate need to differentiate themselves from small family boarding houses.
Finally, third chapter attaches to add body to our study by analyzing Brussels’ hotel industry in its physical reality. This essential question is developed through several location maps which are based on varied archives such as almanacs, travel guides, postcards etc. This way, a new map of the uses of the city emerges: a map of migrants and foreign consumers’mobilities.
This thesis shows the complex nature of hospitality industry in Brussels and its transformations in a decisive historical phase. Pensions as palaces are deeply involved in Brussels’ urban development. They have regulated demographic and migratory flows to the capital. Therefore they cannot anymore be considered as superficial and anecdotic actors in urban life.

Lawrence, Jocelyn 08 1900 (has links)
Abstract in English, Afrikaans and Zulu / The environment in which a business operates consists of various forces which exert positive or negative influences on the business. Since they contribute to or deter from the achievement of business objectives, it is essential that they be identified and investigated. The aim of this study was to determine the environmental forces which affect the operations of small, medium and micro independent caterers in Cape Town. In this context, the micro, market and macro-environments were examined. It is hoped that the results of the study will assist these caterers in their awareness of pertinent factors in their business environment, as well as the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats arising therein. They can use this information in strategy development, to reach their objectives, and to enhance their competitive advantage and profitability. Primary data was collected from the business owners or managers through an online survey. The survey covered firmographic business details, as well as demographic details of the owners/managers. Thereafter, their opinions were elicited regarding the impact of various factors in their business environment. The main findings are the following: The greatest positive impacts on the small, medium and micro independent caterers are the abilities of the owners/managers, relationships with suppliers, the internet, and the control of materials and production processes. The greatest challenges faced are financial resources, marketing strategies, online services, competitors, customer demands, the current state of the economy and legal regulations.
