Initially, there is a discussion on the relationship between language and psychoanalysis, considering the former is included in all analytical processes, from theoretical constructs to techniques. Following, it shows what Freud says hysterical language is and Lacan, hysterical discourse, taking as reference literatures that are dedicated to clarify the term. Next chapter describes how clinical structures, in particular, the hysterical neurosis, are related to symbolic registration and castration. And finally, femininity is considered as a possible inheritance of hysteria, refocuses on issues relating to castration, to phallus, its unique relationship with speech and even to the unrepresentative. The discussing of exposed concepts follows by analyzing two films: The girl with a Pearl Earring and The hours. These are films that enable a questioning of feminine position representation and psychic matted involved, by cinema, also engaged in setting up and the removal of meanings in our culture / Este trabalho investiga construções teórico-psicanalíticas em Freud e Lacan, e sucessores críticos, os quais se referem à constituição da feminilidade, à sua articulação com a constituição da subjetividade humana e aos destinos da subjetividade articulados a alguns possíveis efeitos sobre a prática de representação do feminino pela arte cinematográfica. Inicialmente, é feita uma discussão sobre as relações entre linguagem e psicanálise, levando-se em consideração que a primeira está incluída em todos os processos analíticos, das construções teóricas à técnicas. A seguir, mostra-se o que Freud chama de linguagem histérica, e Lacan, discurso histérico, tomando-se como referência obras que se dedicam ao esclarecimento do termo. No capítulo seguinte, é descrito como as estruturas clínicas, em especial, as neuroses histéricas, estão em relação ao registro simbólico e à castração. E, finalmente, a feminilidade é abordada como uma possível herança da histeria, ressituada com as questões atinentes à castração, ao falo, à sua singular relação com os discursos e, mesmo, o irrepresentável. Segue-se a interlocução dos conceitos expostos com a análise de duas obras: A moça com brinco de pérola e As horas. Trata-se de obras que permitem um questionamento sobre a representação da posição feminina e o emaranhado psíquico aí implicado, a partir da arte cinematográfica, também empenhada na constituição e destituição de sentidos em nossa cultura
