Recreation of Gävle after the Second Fire

Ljunggren, Lukas January 2007 (has links)

In 1776, the City of Gävle was immersed in a blazing fire, almost the whole city burned down and buildings that managed to survived have either been demolished or replaced by another one. To provide an actual view of Gävle from 1800-century is difficult due to the three different fires. A three-dimensional visualization model presents the entire city between 1776-1815 as it might have appeared. Archival images and information was provided from Länsmusem Gävleborg, Fogden, City library of Gävle and the City Archive. The three-dimensional model of the entire city is presented in a QuickTime movie format for viewing.

Ein Werkstattbericht: die Übernahme unstrukturierter Dateisammlungen im Stadtarchiv München

Baumann, Daniel 27 May 2022 (has links)
The Munich City Archives have a digital archive in operation since 2016 and since then take over digital data from the city administration of the state capital and from private sources, although the latters still are rare. The most common form of digital accessions are unstructured file collections. As a rule, these cannot be transferred into the archives’ repository without preparatory work. The article attempts to show the challenges unstructured file collections present us with when archiving, and how we analyze and evaluate such accessions in the Munich City Archives, supported by numerous software-tools, in the so-called pre-ingest and how we prepare them for the ingest.

Resurrection of Our Ancestors : 3D face reconstruction of historical images and its use in face recognition

Lekander, Moa Li January 2023 (has links)
In the field of face recognition one challenge is to recognize individuals in photographs taken of the person in profile. In this project it was investigated whether 3D face reconstructions could improve the face recognition results in these cases. Images used in the experiments were historical images of persons who lived in Stockholm during the late nineteenth to early twentieth centuries. Additionally, face frontalization algorithms were applied to images taken in profile-view of the person to investigate if this idea could improve the results of 3D face reconstruction of images in profile-view. The results of the experiments showed that using 3D face reconstructions did not improve the results of face recognition. However, in most cases the individuals in the 3D face reconstructions could be recognized. Furthermore, experiments also showed that face frontalization did not improve the results of the 3D face reconstructions of images taken in profile angle. Aside from these results, the thesis demonstrates a, to the best of our knowledge, new approach to evaluate 3D face reconstruction results by using face recognition.
