The internationalization of new technology within an organization with unclear ownership

Piccolo, Sofia January 2017 (has links)
This master thesis was done at Uppsala Clinical Research Center (UCR). UCR have recently developed the technical platform QReg 5 for managing quality registries. UCR have been in contact with several international organizations interested in collaborating with UCR because of their expertise within quality registries as well as their technical competence. UCR have a complicated owner structure as well as organizational structure, as they are owned by Uppsala University and Uppsala County Council. The purpose of this master thesis was to present how QReg 5 could be commercialized under UCR's preconditions. In order for the internationalization plans to be successful, it was shown that the shared ownership of UCR needs to become clearer. By taking advantage of the possibilities with the new development section at UCR, the management of the contacts will be more efficient. Potential competitors for UCR are registry centers that have created their own technical solutions, large software companies, Life Science related organizations (e.g. hospitals), the organizations that UCR license QReg 5 to, as well as software companies creating electronic medical records. The most interesting customer segment for UCR are organizations with technical competences, which are placed in countries were quality registries are not yet in use.

Implementação de processo de planejamento estratégico orientado para promoção de business process management (BPM) em uma unidade de pesquisa clínica / Implementation of a strategic planning process oriented toward promoting business process management (BPM) at a clinical research center

Rentes, Victor Cattani 29 September 2016 (has links)
Business process management (BPM) has the potential to enhance performance for organizations of different sizes, industries, geographical locations or maturity levels of process management. One critical success factor for the promotion of BPM is its alignment with strategic planning. This research aims to explore the potential benefits of aligning the strategic planning process with a BPM program. Thus, the research question is defined as: what are the benefits of executing a diagnosis and strategic planning before a BPM program in a clinical research center (CRC)? The objective of the research is to define and execute steps of a strategic planning process in a clinical research center, identifying the benefits of these activities for a subsequent BPM program. Action-research was the method applied. The main findings were that the initial diagnosis of the organization in focus\' management practices and structuring of the strategic planning process ware adequate to prepare for the first cycle of a BPM program. Based on lessons learned along the research, a model was proposed for the strategic planning process oriented towards the promotion of BPM.

Centro de Pesquisa ClÃnica: Estrutura e AdministraÃÃo. / Clinical Research Center: Structure and Administration.

Wanda Santos de Andrade 06 July 2010 (has links)
The aim of this work, built from bibliographical research, is to present basic guidelines that serve as support for a model of physical and organizational structure, and method of administration, to be implanted in a Clinical Research Center, public or private. The clinical trials or studies constitute the most expensive and time-consuming part of the drug development process. It usually takes place at a Clinical Research Center, a public or private organization legally constituted and authorized to perform clinical research. The set of rules and proceedings together with the material resources (buildings, equipments, etc.) form the structure of an organization. The approach on the structure for the Clinical Research Center occurred in two areas: Physical Structure and Organizational Structure. The model of administration discussed was based on the analysis of the existent models, identifying the same basis in all of them, including the administrative essential functions for any institution: the planning, organization, command, coordination and control. We customized a model of evaluation of companies, used by the National Quality Foundation in the attainment of the National Prize of Quality, which is used by many leading organizations world-class, adapting it into a model of Quality Management, in which we defined 12 necessary basis for the administration of a Research Center, in order to qualify it to compete in the globalized market of the XXI century, which are: Systemic Thought; Leadership; Vision of the Future; Strategies and Plans: Projection; Adding Value to People: management of competences; Systematic Learning; Culture and Innovation; Direction by Processes and Information; Generation of Value; Knowledge and understanding of the Client and the Market; Development of Partnerships; Social Responsibility.
