A material model for multiaxial stretching and stress relaxation of polypropylene under process conditions

Sweeney, John, O'Connor, C.P.J., Spencer, Paul E., Pua, H., Caton-Rose, Philip D., Martin, P.J. 03 December 2020 (has links)
No / Polypropylene sheets have been stretched at 160 °C to a state of large biaxial strain of extension ratio 3, and the stresses then allowed to relax at constant strain. The state of strain is reached via a path consisting of two sequential planar extensions, the second perpendicular to the first, under plane stress conditions with zero stress acting normal to the sheet. This strain path is highly relevant to solid phase deformation processes such as stretch blow moulding and thermoforming, and also reveals fundamental aspects of the flow rule required in the constitutive behaviour of the material. The rate of decay of stress is rapid, and such as to be highly significant in the modelling of processes that include stages of constant strain. A constitutive equation is developed that includes Eyring processes to model both the stress relaxation and strain rate dependence of the stress. The axial and transverse stresses observed during loading show that the use of a conventional Levy-Mises flow rule is ineffective, and instead a flow rule is used that takes account of the anisotropic state of the material via a power law function of the principal extension ratios. Finally the constitutive model is demonstrated to give quantitatively useful representation of the stresses both in loading and in stress relaxation.

The influence of culture on students' impulsive buying behaviour in the Vaal Triangle area / Luzaan Hamilton

Hamilton, Luzaan January 2011 (has links)
Impulse buying or unplanned purchases by consumers constitute a major proportion of purchases in certain product categories. Studies in the United States widely reported that impulse consumer buying behaviour accounts for up to 80% of all purchases in certain product categories, and it has been suggested that purchases of new products result more from impulse purchasing than from prior planning. South Africa is a nation of shoppers with increasing numbers defined as impulse buyers who respond to glossy adverts such as „never to be beaten bargains‟ and „buy one get one free‟. Culture has a profound effect on why people buy. Culture affects the specific products people buy as well as the structures of consumption, individual decision-making and communication in a society. Since South Africa has quite a diverse group of different cultures, it has been of great importance to determine whether cultural differences had an influence on impulsive buying behaviour. The primary research objective was to assess the influence of different cultures on consumer impulsive buying behaviour of students. The findings of this research study did not clearly indicate if culture had an effect on students‟ impulsive buying behaviour. / Thesis (M.Com. (Business Management))--North-West University, Vaal Triangle Campus, 2011

The role of the ward manager in creating a conducive clinical learning environment for nursing students

Netshandama-Funyufunyu, Vhonani Olive 11 1900 (has links)
The aim of this study was to investigate the role of the ward manager in creating a conducive clinical learning environment for nursing students. An explorative descriptive research method was employed. Findings reveal that the ward managers are generally satisfied with the way in which they handled the important role they play in facilitating teaching and learning for nursing students. They feel strongly, however, that the nursing students themselves need to be active in the learning process. While acknowledging the efforts of the ward managers in creating and maintaining the learning environment, nursing students were dissatisfied about several aspects that appeared to be lacking in the clinical environment, such as good interpersonal relations, support, exposure to practice administrative skills (for example, problem-solving and decision-making) and lack of feedback about their performance. There appears to be a need to develop more effective support structures within the learning environment so that nursing students can obtain sufficient exposure to learning opportunities. / Health Studies / M.A. (Advanced Nursing Sciences)

我國公務人員權利保障制度之研究 / The Study of Protecting Rights of R.O.C`s Public Employees

鄧如玲, Deng, Rul-Lyin Unknown Date (has links)

Criminal law in Islam

Rahim, Ismail 06 1900 (has links)
English, with some Arabic text / After justifying my rationale for this study, I have briefly propounded anthropological and philosophical perspectives for the institution and development of law in human society. Thereafter I have focused on the criminal law of Islām. With regards to invariable penalties for certain offences and variable penalties for others I have also stressed the oft-neglected issue of rehabilitation. Besides, I have also appraised criminal procedure and then concluded by refuting objections raised against Islāmic criminal law by critics. In sum, the following comes to light: • The Islāmic laws encompass all facets of criminality. • Islām believes in nipping the evil in the bud: treating the wound and then applying the plaster. If it comes to the worst that the wound becomes incurable, then for the betterment of the patient and others, it may as well be amputated. Its aim is not to castigate the criminals; rather to reprimand them and bring reform in the society. • How crucial this topic is and how urgently it should be addressed. • How temperate the Islāmic laws are in weeding out crimes from the societies. • Crime is a crime, whether it is perpetrated by an individual or state. / Religious Studies and Arabic / M.A. (Islamic Studies)
