Byggarbetsplatsen som skola - eller skolan som byggarbetsplats? : En studie av byggnadsarbetares yrkesutbildning / Construction Site as School - or School as Construction Site? : A Study of Vocational Education and Training for Workers within Building and ConstructionBerglund, Ingrid January 2009 (has links)
The issue of this dissertation is the relationship between Vocational Education and Training (VET) in general and VET for building and construction in particular, as well as implications of the fact that Swedish VET is carried out both in school and in working life. Vocational construction education includes a three year Construction Programme at upper secondary school followed by two to three years of on-the-job training in the construction industry. In this case study of an upper secondary Construction Programme, the school based daily instruction as well as work based training, is explored and documented. These constitute a base for descriptions and analysis of education as a whole from the perspective of Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT). The aim of the analysis is to identify the main motives for vocational construction education. The case study results are further based on descriptions and CHAT-analyses of the historical development of construction work as well as of Swedish VET in general and of vocational construction area in particular. The case study illustrates that two activities form vocational construction education; the dominating activity being construction production, and school-activity. The terms of construction industry seem to greatly determine the realisation of the school based construction production activity. E.g. teamwork is emphasised in both activities. The school activity is marked by the implementation of infusion of core subjects by vocational subjects, aimed at preparing the students for continued professional development in the trade. The conclusion drawn here is that the new Swedish apprenticeship seems to contribute to a narrow professional knowledge base, whereas the use of infused core subjects seems to contribute to a broader professional knowledge base.

Challenges to sustainabilityeducation in Swedish construction programmes : Using sustainability evaluation of university programmes and interviews with programme directors in Swedish universities.Garud, Pranav January 2020 (has links)
Construction is an investment intensive industry which has been notoriouslyknown to be cost and time ineffective. Further, the construction industry isknown to be the world’s largest resource utilizer and the largest polluter.Hence sustainability in construction is necessary.Since Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) are one of the most importantstakeholders in construction, this research aims to determine the sustainabilityaspects taught in Swedish construction programmes. On comparing the aimsand outcomes of all construction courses to the United Nations SustainableDevelopment Goals (SDGs), this research found that Swedish constructioneducation programmes lack political and social sustainability in theirconstruction curricula. Further, this research investigates the challenges toimparting sustainability education due to present research andpedagogical/teaching methods. Data to investigate the results was collectedthrough interviews with programme directors from various SwedishUniversities. The findings of this research show a connection between practical application, research and traditional education. Further, the factors affecting research andpedagogy are also inter-related and convoluted. A large cause and effectnetwork arising due to the interplay of the factors is addressed in thediscussions section. This thesis finds that sustainable development inconstruction requires development of sustainability evaluation methods as wellas combined efforts from various stakeholders and professions.

Využití financování ze zdrojů EU pro výstavbu, rekonstrukce a vybavení škol v Jihočeském kraji / The use of funding from EU resources for construction, renovation and equipment of schools in South BohemiaPŘIBYL, Martin January 2014 (has links)
The subject of my Master´s Thesis is Use of funding from EU resources for construction, renovation and equipment of schools in South Bohemia. The thesis consists of two parts a theoretical and practical one. The theoretical part contains a description of basic terms concerning Structural Funds and Operational Programmes (OP) that schools gain financial means through. Special attention is paid to OP Living environment, OP Education and competitiveness and to Regional Operational Programme South-west, too. The theoretical part includes a procedure from planning, over realization and monitoring to checking of the project applying for support of funds of the European Union. The practical part is focused on use of theoretical knowledge in practice and on analysis of present state of using grants by schools in the South-bohemian district. A factual example how a school applies for financial support and what requirements must be submitted and met by an applicant is given at the end of the practical part. Results of this Master´s thesis can help to comprehend problems concerned and to simplify for schools administration connected with applying for European grants.

Proměny společenského postavení sociální skupiny českých architektů a stavitelů v 19. století / Changes in the social status of the social group of Czech architects and builders in the 19th centuryKorbel, Tomáš January 2020 (has links)
This work aims to contribute to the research of Czech elites of the 19th century and to write up the hitherto neglected topic of professional and social rise of Czech architects and builders in the 19th century. At this time, as a result of state reforms of the educational, administrative and legal system, the professional perception and social status of this class changed. In the introduction, architects and builders are included in the process of modernization of the construction industry and defined on the basis of their relationship to art, engineering and business. Subsequently, architects and builders are defined as a socio-professional group that has reached a certain degree of professionalism during this period. Against the background of the formation of a modern system of building and architectural education, law and administration, individual features of professionalization are monitored on specific cases of architects and builders using the method of collective biography of elites in research areas of their social background, education, construction practice and other public activities. Thus, two levels intersect in the work - general and personal. In general, the interconnection of construction education, law and administration since the establishment of construction disciplines at...
