My graduation theses under the title "Past and present Elementary school of Jaroslav Jezek in the context of teaching Czech language" thesis deals with the early education and teaching of visually impaired children in the Private institution for blind children and sick eyes and further it describes the current characteristics and principles of teaching visually impaired children at the elementary school of Jaroslav Jezek. The graduation theses is divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with the history of education and teaching visually impaired children in the Czech lands. The second chapter summarizes the principles and specifics of teaching and further highlights the importance of touch and compensatory aids during the class. The third chapter follows the influence of reading and the spoken word for children with visual impairments. The fourth chapter deals with the current concept of teaching the Czech language. 1 ABSTRACT This thesis is named Linguistic Analysis of weather forecasts and is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. In the first part of this thesis readers can find general knowledge of field of media: the term media communication is defined, specifics are described, it is talked about a media product, content and meaning. After that we mention media audience with respect to the pupil as a special type of recipient. The following is a characteristic of television weather forecasts within the media communication and analysis of its typical means of expression. The last part of this section is the description of the school curriculum, especially the media education, because the research was made in the schools and the main goals of this thesis were based on requirements of curricula of the Czech Republic. The second part presents the motivation of investigation and the method of the action research that was chosen. The largest part of this section is the part containing the whole evaluation and interpretation of the results of particular activities, both propaedeutic and proactive with the media product. Čtení s porozuměním českých textů žáků cizinců v úrovni A1 / Reading comprehension of the Czech texts among foreign pupils - Level A1

This master theses deals with certain aspects of Czech as foreign language. It comprises of 2 parts. The first one is theoretical background and explains key concepts as e.g. migration, foreign pupil in czech school, teaching of foreign pupils, reading comprehension, characteristic of level A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It introduces European language portfolio and vocabulary for level A1. The second part is focused on field research that was realised at primary school in Prague. For this qualitative research were chosen 10 pupils from Slavic and Non-Slavic countries. The aim of this research was gaining of compact information about chosen pupils by analysing their individual educational plan, interviews with pupils, teachers and headmaster, analysing their tests and observation. The reseach was concentrated on reading comprehension. 3 different texts were made. One from them was made according to vocabulary for level A1. The other texts were text from textbook and it's simplified version. Each text had a few questions that pupils had to answer. The results of two texts were compared and commented. We cannot say that if pupil is longer time in Czech environment, he or she has better command of Czech language. Comparison of two types of texts did not bring...

Metody RWCT na počátku školní docházky / RWCT methods at the start of the school attendance

The aim of this thesis was to study RWCT methods used at the beginning of a school attendance and to study appropriate conditions for applying RWCT methods. The thesis deals with searching for the best method of the very initial pupils reading and also appropriate teaching materials with regard to RWCT. There is described a three-phase model of E-U-R education and selected method of critical thinking. The practical part of the thesis contains preparation for lessons processed using RWCT methods and summarizes results of pedagogical action research. The outcomes of the thesis confirm that if pupils have suitable conditions at the beginning of a school attendance, they are able to use RWCT methods in practise.

Jazykový obraz nohy/nohou v češtině / The linguistic picture of the leg/legs in Czech

The thesis is a contribution to the study of designations of the human body in the Czech language and is based on contemporary theories and methods of cognitive and cultural approaches to language. It focuses on that part of reality which is called noha / nohy by members of Czech linguistic community. First, two terminological perspectives from which the leg / legs can be seen were comapared: the natural perspective of the linguistic picture of the world and the scientific medical perspective. The medical perspective tends to categorize parts of the body very precisely, it also analyses deep structures of the leg / legs. In contrast the natural perspectives only the surface of the leg / legs and distinguishes those categories which are significant for humans and their existence in the world. In the main chapter we attempt to define the meaning of the Czech noha / nohy and of parts of the leg / legs by analysing definitions in Czech monolingual dictionaries, etymology of words, derived words and compounds, synonyms and especially phraseology. Based on the analysis of these sources we determined the systemic connotations and connected semantic profiles. This diploma thesis deals with an analysis of Old Czech poem Tristram and Izalda. The source of the analysed text is the Strahov manuscript dated to 1449, in edition by Zdeňka Tichá. The thesis includes a brief description of the history and origin of the analysed piece in both European and especially Czech literary context. The main focus of this text is the linguistic analysis of selected language phenomena. That comprises of phonological and morphological evolution of most grammar categories of nouns, adjectives and verbs in Czech language. With nouns and adjectives, the thesis focuses on the declination paradigm, specifically on the system of grammatical cases and the animacy of the masculine gender. With verbs, the attention is given to the analysis of the tenses, with emphasis on the simple past tenses. First and foremost, the thesis focuses on the analysis of the aorist and imperfect tense with emphasis on verbal aspect affiliation, from which these tenses are often created. A part of the work is dedicated to the preterite, the compound past tense. Where individual verbal forms are analysed, the main focus is given to the nt- and s- participles, their suffix system and also the connection to the category of verbal aspect. Many distinct examples from the analysed text are provided throughout the thesis, as well as detailed statistic data on the occurrence frequency of selected phenomena

The M. A. thesis concerns with teaching Czech as foreign language for pre-school children. The main aim of thesis is current situation of teaching Czech as foreign language for pre- school children with respect to teachers who perform this teaching, primarily to the qualifications of teachers, the approaches and the methods which they choose and the teaching materials which they use. The first part of thesis deals firstly with significance of teaching Czech as foreign language for pre-school children then with education teachers of Czech as foreign language for pre- school children and finally with pre-school children as target group of teaching foreign language and Czech as foreign language. In the chapter about methodology we describe chosen qualitative methods of research and course of the research. The empirical part of thesis is divided into three parts, in the first one are presented the research data from the semi-structured interviews in Prague and the results of qualitative analysis of materials which are used by teachers. Vzájemné hodnocení ve výuce češtiny jako cizího jazyka / Peer Assessment in Teaching Czech as a Foreign Language

The aims of this Master's thesis are (i) to examine the suitability of using peer-to-peer assessment in teaching writing skills in Czech B1-level courses and (ii) to suggest recommendations for tutors who are considering implementing the method in their Czech classes. The theoretical part is concerned with the description of particular types and forms of assessment and it presents an overview of several studies, focusing on those conducted in the field of ESL teaching. The empirical part focuses on describing the design and execution of the experiment as well as on interpreting its results. The experiment was performed as an intensive online writing course in Czech; the participants were students preparing for a B1-level exam. The investigation aimed at the quality of students' comments and at the implementation degree of their suggestions shows limited effectivity of using peer-to-peer assessment in teaching Czech on B1-level. However, based on the data, the study managed to identify several shortcomings in the way the peer-to-peer assessment method was used and it suggested recomendations for their elimination. If the tutors decide to follow these suggestions this could lead to a more succesful use of the investigated method in teaching.

In this thesis the activities of civic sector organisations (CSOs) in the field of foreign children's education in the Czech Republic and in the Netherlands are described. The aim is to analyze conditions which are in the field of foreign children's education in both countries, and methods and instruments which are used by CSOs. In the Netherlands there is a lot of experience with immigrants from all over the world so know how of Dutch CSOs can serve as an inspiration for Czech CSOs since in the CR there is lack of experience with immigrants. In both countries a qualitative research was done. The research was made on the basis of knowledge acquired in specialised literature. It includes semistructured interviews with CSOs members, and in the case of the Netherlands interviews with employees of two Dutch schools and with an expert on foreign children's education. The diploma thesis is focused on the search for opportunities for distance learning of the Czech language at primary schools. The aim of the work is to deal in detail and find out how distance learning of the Czech language takes place at primary schools and what is the level of adoption of teaching among pupils who are learning a distance form of study. The work is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with a general treatise of primary education and education. It also briefly characterizes the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education. Then it analyzes distance education in detail, briefly defines communication tools and in the end summarizes the subject Czech language and its teaching. The practical part contains two research surveys, which are structured in detail. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used. In the first research survey, it finds out the effectiveness of Czech language distance education at selected primary schools in specific grades of primary school. It also characterizes the work of a teacher in online Czech language lessons.
