Landscape Painting: Connection, Perception and Attention.Parker, Margaret Ina, margaret_p@optusnet.com.au January 2006 (has links)
I investigate the lived experience, the actuality of responding to land as a painter. This thesis consists of intensive investigations in the field and further exploration in the studio, resulting in a body of paintings and drawings which form the exhibition. The exegesis explores theories and ideas surrounding the work. The psychological engagement between people, land and art is of major concern. The choice of place selected to paint and the subject matter of rocks is discussed. Painters who work outside or have painted at the same site are considered for comparison with my working methods or concerns. The selective view is intimate. The format of the image and the composition are discussed in terms of proximity and space.
Consideration of the psychology of engagement with land and landscape painting, either as an observer or painter, is a major component of the research. This examination of human psychological development illuminates the origin of our sense of self and how we relate to the land on which we live. The premise of this enquiry is the idea that art and culture could reflect human psychological development. Do art objects contribute to cultural understanding of the relationship of person to environment? A phenomenological perspective is incorporated in this exploration of the interrelation of vision, perception and attention. Can the reality of experience be transferred into the art work? The deep attention to the landscape of Australian Aboriginal people serves as a cultural reference for these investigations.
This study concludes that sentient consciousness involving responsibility for land is an open, effective way of perceiving and depicting landscape. Responsibility for land can be encouraged by the development of cultural ideas based around landscape and can be the result of feeling connected to land. Art can contribute to changes in attitudes to land.

Previous issue date: 2006-12-04 / This study aimed at investigating psychoanalytically the mutative potential of a different feature which was called therapeutic meetings , destinated to women who had recently suffered spontaneous abortion. This practice consisted in three or four individual encounters, which were realized a few days after those women had lost their babies, in which the verbal communication was completed by using the Drawing-and-Story Procedure of Trinca, according to the paradigm present in the Squiggle Game of Winnicott, a combination that allowed a mutual interaction. After realizing each one of the therapeutic encounters, psychoanalytical narratives were written, and were presented to the group of researchers, so that it was possible to apprehend the clinical occur by identifying the psychological fields, what would permit the viewing of the movements of integration. It was possible to observe, through constratransferencial feelings, that the two participants of this study could integrate, through the therapeutic encounters realized, aspects that were related to their functions as daughters and women, associated to their difficulties in walking towards the motherhood. It was possible to apprehend the clinical efficacy of this different feature, what indicates its implementation in hospital institutions of the areas of ginecology and obstetrics.

Previous issue date: 2011-08-08 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This work observes the story of the scientist Victor Frankstein, and his creation, to propose a
clinical discussion of essential contemporary experience questions. Mary Shelley s novel
express, as only a few have done, the transformations of human s condition in the present day,
and discuss, by exploring the intricate relationship established between the creator and his
creation, about the risk of objectification of the human being as part of modernity s scientific
project. Frankenstein s novel reveals an universe where human creativity has no place and
the felling of being cannot be reached. The comprehension about the phenomenon presented
in the novel is deepened with the theory and clinical experience of D. W. Winnicott, an
english pediatrician and psychoanalyst exceptionally concerned with the fundamentals of
human nature. The present study focuses in the contrast between the good enough
environment, described by Winnicott, and the sterile world, presented in Shelley s book,
proposing a discussion involving philosophers like Heidegger, Bachelard, Bakhtin, Pessanha e
Arendt, psychoanalysts like Freud, Khan e Safra, and poets like Fernando Pessoa, Drumond e
Clarisse Lispector. The themes are presented according to Franskstein s narrative, showing the
most important moments of his life, from his birth to his death, what facilitates the
comprehension of the human phenomenon in its totality / Esse estudo acompanha a história do cientista Victor Frankenstein e sua criatura,

Previous issue date: 2015-08-21 / This study aimed to verify the perception of adolescent mothers sheltered during the pre- and post-birth of their babies and used the theoretical foundation of D.W.Winnicott to recognize the emotional needs conflicts of adolescents in these periods. Individuals interviews were conducted using as a support an adapted screenplay refering to those periods; the interviews were analyzed and the emotional conflicts were associated with the theory of emotional maturation. The holding was considered the key factor to deal with the complexity of conflicts involved in that period. The environment should be prepared to understand defensive attitudes deriving from family conflicts and situations of life marked by helplessness. Some defensive mechanisms were identified as false-self, antisocial tendency, as well as depression and dissociation states. The understanding of these mechanisms contributes to change the way to host adolescents and promote the conditions to their emottional maturing. Ensure the health of mothers and their babies and, contribute to the quality of the mother-infant relationship and prevent actions that cause trauma. Professionals working in this area need skills on issues involving the emotional maturity; so they can minimize the emotional tension caused by the responsibility assumed by them. Adolescents seek rapid growth, if they are impulsed to it, the result will be a false maturity and the impossibility of experiencing the immaturity of adolescence. Thus, they disregard the immaturity of their actions, their emotional dependence and the personal and social impediments involving the care of a baby. It is essential, the presence of supervisors to assist in the elaboration of emotional tensions created in this context, as these may result in limitations on professional performance. The shelter can be a decisive space to diagnose and support the emotional illness, to care for pregnant teenagers and to the young mothers in a special and differentiated way, through specific actions that prioritize the support of regression states, dependency and anguish from that period. Actions based on prevention, recognizing the importance of maternity care, without disregarding the personal needs of adolescents, in order to avoid unnecessary trauma over emotional maturation process of their babies are required / Este estudo teve como objetivo investigar a percepção das adolescentes mães abrigadas sobre os períodos pré e pós-nascimento de seus bebês.

Previous issue date: 2006-12-06 / The present work, which has as its main purpose the investigation of the collective imaginary of adolescents concerning the fase of life they are in and their leaving of their parents houses, is organized in the shape of a narrative about a clinical event, from which a theoretical-practical, psychoanalytical-based reflection has been elaborated. It focuses, as a clinical event, on a group therapeutic consultation carried out with six youngsters, with ages ranging from fifteen to twenty-one, in which the thematic storydrawing procedure was used. The therapeutic session and story-drawing approach, produced through the psychoanalytical method, allowed for the apprehension of the following unconscious psychological-experiential fields, from which the subjective productions of meaning organize themselves: fusions and confusions , a parallel world , a negative view of the future and the choices . Overall, these fields indicate the presence of a current suffering, specific of adolescence in our environment, which indicates the necessity of psychoprophylactic and intervening measures which could contribute to help the youngsters enter a process of retaking their own destiny and conquering autonomy. From this perspective, one can assert that adolescents will be healthier the more they feel alive, real and capable of making choices for their own paths, portrayed by the spontaneous and transforming gestuality of the world.
