A narrativa dist?pica juvenil : um estudo sobre Jogos Vorazes e Divergente

It is possible to perceive common influences among such works, as the dictatorships that ravaged Europe during the World Wars and the ambiguous role of progress and science within this context. With the beginning of the new millennium, there was a significant return of these narratives, this time to the young audience, leading us to question ourselves about the reason that made them become relevant to these young readers and about the possible traits of our time that lead them to fear the present and the future. Thus, this master?s thesis aimed to understand the way the young adult dystopias functioned and to perceive how they differed from those written in the twentieth century, attempting to delineate a possible profile and also to encourage more discussions about these literary works. For this purpose, we explored the universe of the trilogies The Hunger Games and Divergent, written by the Americans Suzanne Collins and Veronica Roth, and we used the theoretical works of authors that engaged themselves to examine the dystopias and utopias, as Chad Walsh, Jerzy Szazhi and Keith Booker, and also other social theorists, as Michel Foucault and Slavoj Zizek. We discussed about Young Adult literature, the rising of dystopias in the twentieth century and the manner how these works set their societies. / O s?culo XX foi rico em narrativas dist?picas, que surgiram de um determinado momento hist?rico, expressando os anseios e medos que as pessoas tinham ent?o. ? poss?vel perceber influ?ncias comuns entre tais obras, como as ditaduras que assolavam a Europa durante as guerras mundiais e o papel amb?guo do progresso e da ci?ncia nesse contexto. Com a entrada do novo mil?nio, houve um retorno significativo dessas narrativas, desta vez para o p?blico adolescente, nos fazendo questionar o porqu? de elas passarem a ter relev?ncia para esses jovens leitores e tamb?m as poss?veis caracter?sticas do nosso tempo que os levaram a temer pelo presente e pelo futuro. Deste modo, este trabalho buscou compreender o funcionamento das distopias juvenis e perceber de que maneira elas diferiam daquelas escritas durante o s?culo XX, tentando tra?ar um poss?vel perfil e tamb?m abrir mais espa?o para a discuss?o dessas obras liter?rias. Para tanto, exploramos os universos das trilogias Jogos Vorazes e Divergente, das escritoras americanas Suzanne Collins e Veronica Roth, usando os trabalhos de autores que se engajaram em examinar as distopias e as utopias ? como Chad Walsh, Jerzy Szachi e Keith Booker ? e tamb?m outros te?ricos sociais ? como Michel Foucault e Slavoj Zizek. Foram discutidas quest?es sobre a literatura juvenil, sobre a ascens?o das distopias no s?culo XX e a maneira como tais obras configuram suas sociedades.
