Odvodnění stavební jámy - numerická analýza / Dewatering of foundation pit - numerical analysis

Krejzar, Vojtěch January 2021 (has links)
The subject of the presented thesis is a foundation pit dewatering numerical analysis. The study is introduced with practical examples and the summary of the necessary theory. Individual subtasks are modeled as two or three-dimensional problem on a chosen foundation pit example. A comparison with analytical methods and theoretical knowledge about the problem is made. The studies focus on specifying the pumped water quantity, the shape of the depression curve, determining the size of the numerical model and the influence of the finite element network density. The steady-state flow cases, water table aquifer, a well system, sheet pile wall cutoff effect, surface drained pit and partial penetration cases are analyzed. The work proposes a method of modeling a well by FEM. The main output is a 3D analysis of a submerged excavation dewatered with a partially penetrated well system.

Cesta za uznáním: Důvody k migraci do Německa u budoucích absolventů pražských lékařských fakult / Road to Respect: Reason for Migration to Germany from the Perspective of Future Graduates of Prague Medical Faculties of Charles University

Sedláková, Klára January 2015 (has links)
This master thesis deals with the topic of migration of the fresh graduates from Czech Republic to Germany. By means of a qualitative research the decision and reasons to migrate are presented in this thesis like a natural strategy of reaction on decline of an actual situation of young doctors in the Czech health system. The research shows an important role of the non-financial motivating factors. The central topic of research became the social status, especially the prestige and related respect. The reasons for migration are introduced with the theoretical help of the Push and pull factors theory. The understanding of the strategy of decision to migrate as a natural process is related to the theory of Exit, voice and loyalty of Albert Hirschman. The research is based on a series of semi-structured interviews with participants who intend to migrate after the graduation. Since this thesis is focused on the perspective of the main actors of the phenomenon, the migrants, it introduces the diversity of their attitudes to the reasons for migration. The main finding is the importance of the role of respect in the particular everyday situations, which is reflected in the several of ascertained types of motivating factors to migrate. The research also discovered the particular meanings of the motivational...

Culek, Lukáš January 2022 (has links)
The main point of this diploma thesis is revitalization of housing estate called Padělky in Ždánice. The housing estate is located in the northwestern part of the village. There are nine roads in zone 30. Two of them were already repaired in the first stage. The housing estate is without a transport solution and without the possibility of legal parking. Now the roads are devastated, there are potholes, holes and cracks. Six roads were reconstructed, two were extended. This brought the possibility of detours and improved transport. The new design legalizes the parking space. There are new built parking spaces, too. Conditions for the inhabitants of the housing estate are improving. There are new trees, bushes, rosary, furniture and waste bins. The public lighting will be replaced.

ἄριστον μέν ὕδωρ: URBAN PLANNING AND WATER IN AKRAGAS AND METAPONTO

Vasilodimitrakis-Hart, Seraphina 11 1900 (has links)
This thesis examines the water resource management in two Greek colonies in Magna Graecia, Akragas and Metaponto, and the relationship between resource management and political regimes. It asks how similar ancient urban theory was to the practical reality, and if different forms of government made different provisions for water management. Chapter 1 outlines urban and health theories found in the works of ancient theorists. It debunks the idea that Hippodamos was the inventor of grid planning, while introducing the concept of ‘total’ city planning. The focus of Classical scholarship on Athens necessitates discussions of several Athenian water systems and how resource management changed (or continued) through different governments in Athens as a point of comparison for Akragas and Metaponto. This chapter focuses on literary analysis and introduces the controversial Southeast Fountain House, with an in-depth consideration of the fountain’s naming and dating problems. Chapter 2 contains the case studies of Akragas and Metaponto and an exploration of the hydrogeology at the two sites, with an introduction to the hydrological phenomenon of karst activity. A discussion of their unique water features—the kolymbethra at Akragas and the canals in the chora of Metaponto—connects the deliberate planning that occurred in both cities to Hippodamos and the urban theorists. Chapter 3 more fully explores the role of tyrants and democracies in water management. Regardless of authorship, water resource management and water systems are necessary for any city, and so most tyrannical water infrastructure continued to be used and expanded and improved upon even under different governments. Even under tyranny water management is a provision of the state and is engaged with and managed by the citizens of the city. Water management is an essential part of siting and establishing a city, so that it is inseparable from urban planning. / Thesis / Master of Arts (MA)

The Spatial Relationship Between Septic System Failure and Environmental Factors in Washington Township, Marion County, Indiana

Hanson, Brian L. 04 1900 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / Underground septic systems thrive or fail based on the relationship with their local environment. This paper explores ways environmental variables such as soil type, tree roots, degree of slope, and impervious surfaces affect on-site wastewater treatment systems. It also discusses the effects each of these variables may have on a septic system, and the resulting impact a compromised system may have on the surrounding environment. This research focuses on an approximately 20 square mile area of central Washington Township in Marion County, Indiana. This area of central Indiana contains a large septic system owning population in a sampling of different environments such as wooded areas, hilly areas, and a variety of different soil types.

A Study of Energy Saving Actions in Older Buildings in Sweden / En Studie om Energibesparing i Äldre Byggnader i Sverige

LEFFLER, OSCAR, MANSOUR, NASSIF January 2018 (has links)
Modern energy saving technologies are become increasingly mature, easier to implement and financially profitable. Both the European Union and the Swedish government have directives with goals regarding energy savings for the year 2020 and 2030. Here, making buildings more energy efficient plays a large role as around 40% of the total energy usage in Europe can be related to buildings. Constructing new, nearly zero energy houses is currently very popular, but as a vast majority of all buildings in a country like Sweden are older buildings, built before 1980, a majority of the used energy will come from these buildings. Hence, there is plenty of incentive for carrying out energy saving actions and investments in older buildings. From previous research and interviews with energy consultants, it can be concluded that energy saving actions are not being carried to the extent that is possible. This thesis aims to find out why this is and mainly what the main obstacles are when implementing energy saving solutions in older buildings. A case study, consisting of eight interviews with energy consultants and real estate owners was carried out in order to get an understanding of the current situation and the different stakeholders views on this issue. The results showed that, at least in the represented cases, there is a will among real estate owners for moving forward with energy saving. An understanding has also recently emerged where most real estate owners realize that there are great financial incentives connected to implementing energy saving solutions to current, older buildings. However, increased will of making a change has not yet resulted in a majority of buildings having installed energy saving solutions. One factor for this is that each building is its own individual case and therefore needs to be handled individually due to different conditions and are therefore suitable for different energy saving actions. Other factors include lack of technical and financial understanding among some real estate owners, slow decision making processes and ownership types. The research explores theories related to decision makings to provide a comprehensive overview regarding the current situation of energy saving in Sweden, as well as a contribution to the theoretical literature regarding decision making / Modern teknik inom energibesparing blir allt mer mognare, lättare att implementera och finansiellt lönsamt.

Polyfunkční dům v Uherském Hradišti / Multifunctional house in Uherské Hradiště

Kopecká, Lucie Unknown Date (has links)
The object of this master’s thesis is a newly-built mixed-use building in the town of Uherské Hradiště. It includes parking and office spaces, retail shops, and a coffee shop. The building is situated in a mildly sloping terrain near the town centre. It is a three-storey detached building with partial basement. The floor plan was created by joining several different-sized rectangles together. The mixed-use building is based on foundation pads and slabs. It is roofed with a warm flat roof and, above the first floor, with a green roof. The building consists of a cast-in-place reinforced concrete frame with columns and beams. The floor structure is composed of prestressed hollow core slabs. The external wall of the above-ground floors is made of hollow clay blocks and the basement external wall is made of permanent formwork. The wall of the lift shaft is built from reinforced concrete and the staircase is composed of precast reinforced concrete slabs. The external walls are insulated with contact thermal insulation system and in some parts there is timber cladding – ventilated façade with thermal insulation from glass wool. The thermal insulation of the basement and of the plinth is made of extruded polystyrene. The object is divided into several functional zones. On the ground floor there is a coffee shop, a copy shop, a stationery shop, and a bakery. On the first and second floors there are office spaces. In the basement there are technical facilities only. The main entrance of the object is from the northwest part of the plot. There the entrance to the car park is also located, situated to the northwest and southwest side of the plot. Bicycle stands and a place for recycling is also located there. Around the object there is a pavement from which there is wheelchair access to all of the functional zones.
