Family Crisis Intervention Training: A Creative FrameworkRoemisch, Jerry Joe 12 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this analysis is to construct a program framework relating relevant factors of the law enforcement environment to a communication crisis training format. Such a design transcends simple reporting of existing programs by incorporating the as yet unrelated research of communicologists, psychologists, and sociologists into a unified approach. The underlying thrust of this study encourages the development of a broader base for police training. The need for that broader base, with full awareness of the interrelated nature of this program to the policeman's total responsibilities, seems apparent. The approach of this design seeks to be creatively utilization rather than traditionally value-laden.

The impact of light rail transportation announcement and construction : the role of rail transit in property values, land use, demographics, equity, accessibility, and gentrificationPlevak, Stephen Henry 22 November 2010 (has links)
As American cities continue to expand and their existing transportation
infrastructure becomes strained from increased demand, many cities have turned to light
rail transit to not only alleviate congestion but also to provide an economic development
stimulus to the areas around the stations. This report focuses on determining the
economic impact on areas surrounding announced light rail stations in Austin, Texas
while also attempting to quantify changes in land use and demographics experienced in a
city who has an established light rail line; Dallas, Texas. In addition to examining any
changes associated with the announcement and construction of a light rail project this
report will qualitatively examine the role of these project in stimulating gentrification in
station areas and what effect gentrification will have in preventing low-income
households from accessing the improved transit system. The report will also propose
actions that could ensure that these households continue to have access to public
transportation, which would mitigate the strain of increasing transportation costs. / text

Civic Life-Styles in Dallas, TexasSavage, Howard Allan 05 1900 (has links)
Abstract: The civic life-styles typology of Charles Adrian and Oliver Williams was tested as to its theoretical utility in explaining empirical patterns of civic life-style items, and its comparability to other forms of urban behavior. The data are from a 1970 survey of 3,025 families by the City of Dallas, Texas. An exploratory factor analysis was done on civic life-style items. The factor index scores were used as dependent variables, and demographic and associational items were independent variables in a step-wise regression analysis. Only two of ten factors were found to be civic lifestyles; both were interpretable using the Adrian and Williams typology. Civic life-style behavior was found to be similar to other patterns of differential participation in urban structures.
