Machado, Lucas Silveira. January 2013 (has links)
Were performed two applications according to the manufacturer's specifications, one per week, of the in-office bleachingwith38% hydrogen peroxide. We applied the home bleaching technique for two weeks with 10% carbamide peroxide in a custom-made tray. The factor studied was the "bleaching technique" on 2 levels: Technique 1 (in-office bleaching associated with home bleaching) and Technique 2 (home bleaching only). The response variables were color change, dental sensitivity, morphology, and superficial roughness. According to a random draw, the volunteers had their maxillary right and left hemi arches submitted to in-office placebo treatment and to in-office bleaching, respectively (Phase 1), and at home bleaching (Phase 2) treatment for both hemi-arches, characterizing a split-mouth type of design. The color change was performed in the incisor and canine teeth by visual and digital evaluation before and after phase 1 and after the conclusion of each session of attendance. The dental sensitivity was assessed using the visual analogical method whereas the enamel surface changes and roughness were analyzed by electron microscopy (SEM) and by optical interferometry (IFM), through replicas clinically obtained based on central incisors before and after bleaching procedures. No differences were observed between the bleaching techniques for both the visual and digital analysis. There was a significant difference in the dental sensitivity... Influence of Erosive and Abrasive Cycling on Bonding of Diferent Adhesive Systems Enamel: An in situ study

Ciccone Giacomini,Marina, Casas-Apayco, Leslie, Moreira Machado,Camila, Carvalho de Almendra Freitas,Maria Cristina, Atta,Maria Teresa, Wang, Linda January 1900 (has links)
This study evaluated the impact of orange juice on the bond strength (BS) of dentin bonding systems (DBSs) to enamel surface after simulation with an in situ/ ex vivo erosive cycling. One hundred and ninety two bovine enamel fragments (4x4x2 mm) were obtained and randomized regarding superficial microhardness and distributed to palatal devices for 8 volunteers, in three phases (one for each DBS), containing 8 blocks, which were, allocated in 4 pairs. Daily, these pairs were subjected extraorally to the following conditions: CONTneither erosive nor abrasive challenge; ERO- erosive challenge only; ABR- abrasive challenge only and ERO + ABR- with erosive and abrasive challenges. Erosive cycles (immersion in orange juice, 3 times/day/5 min/5 days) or/and abrasive challenges (electric toothbrush, 3 times/day/1 min/5 days) were performed. After these cycles, all specimens were restored with the adhesive systems Adper Scotchbond Multi Purpose (MP), Adper Single Bond 2 (SB) or Clearfil SE Bond (SE), and the composite resin Filtek Z250. After 7 days, sticks (area ≅1 mm2) were obtained and subjected to the microtensile bond strength test (μTBS) at 0.5 mm/min. Data was statistically analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey tests (a=0.05). Failure modes were determined using a digital microscope (40×). DBS was the only statistical significant factor. SE was the unique DBS not affected in any challenge, whereas MP and SB performed according to the scenario. The adhesive and mixed failures were predominant in all groups. Overall performance suggested that BS to enamel after erosive /abrasive challenged by orange juice was not affected and it was material-dependent

Resistência de união entre uma cerâmica e o esmalte de dente bovino, efetuada por diferentes sistemas adesivos e técnicas de cimentação / Bond strength between a ceramic and bovine tooth enamel, made by different adhesive systems and luting techniques

Sá, André Tomazini Gomes de 11 October 2011 (has links)
The aim of this study was to evaluate the strength of adhesive bonding of a glass-ceramic (IPS e.max Press) fixed on the enamel of bovine teeth. There were used two methods of cementation one in which the adhesive was pre-cured, and another in which the photopolymerization of the adhesive and composite cement was performed simultaneously after the fixing of ceramic disc, which was 5mm in diameter and 2mm thick. Through a combination of two light cured adhesive systems (Single Bond and FL Optibond 2) and two resin cements (Variolink II and RelyX ARC), one light-cured and another dual-cured associated with the two luting techniques eight conditions of cementation were formed. The samples were subjected to shear test technique. Under the established conditions, after statistical treatment of results the following conclusions could be drawn: a) the cementation technique with simultaneous curing of the adhesive with cement produced resistance rates higher than those obtained by the technique of pre-curing the adhesive; b) the combination of adhesive Single Bond 2 with cement Variolink II resulted in lower bond strength, in comparison with the other three combinations of cements and adhesives formed.

Chermont, Armando Brito 30 April 2013 (has links)
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of desensitizing agents on the bond strength of different adhesive systems condition and rinse and self-etching to dentin through microshear. Were used sixty dentin fragments obtained from the buccal and lingual surfaces of molars third molars, which were distributed in groups (n = 12) according to desensitizing treatment (control - no treatment; potassium oxalate; + CPP-ACP fluorine; arginine; nanohidroxiapatita) and adhesive system (Single Bond Adpter 2 / 3M; Clearfil SE Bond / Curaray) employee. The application of desensitizing agents (2 ml) were performed in three sessions with an interval of 48 hours. The dentin fragments remained immersed in 6 ml of artificial saliva in the period between applications. The adhesive systems were applied according to the instructions of the manufacturer and cured for 40 seconds. About every two dentin surfaces were fabricated in composite cylinders. The mechanical test was performed using a microshear speed of 1 mm / min .The fracture patterns were determined using a digital microscope with increased 50 times. Fractures were classified as adhesive, cohesive in dentin and composite resin cohesive described percentage. 2-way ANOVA and the Bonferroni test (p <0.05) It was concluded that the desensitizing treatments influenced the bond strength of adhesive systems and conditional wash; treatment with potassium oxalate and arginine reduced the bond strength of self-etching; treatment with CPP-ACP did not interfere with hydroxyapatite and adhesion of self-etching .
