Composed and overall published in my blog, the Escrita Blog, the text goes back to the last year of the military dictatorship in Brazil. As a dissertation, I present a non-fiction novel composed by short chapters divided in three parts about the year of 1984 that, in Brasil, represented the begining of a democratic process that, afterall, took an additional year to be materialized. The process of composition of the novel comes from many notes and memories that I conserved from my years as a journalist, passing through almost every year of regime. Lastly, the narrative intend to give my testemony to let us not forget what had happened / O trabalho aqui apresentado é conseqüência de uma longa jornada e de diversas experiências que resultam no texto Antes que eu perca a cabeça, dentre outras coisas.

The 'New Prince' and the problem of lawmaking violence in early modern drama

Majumder, Doyeeta January 2014 (has links)
The present thesis examines the fraught relationship between the sixteenth-century formulations of the theories of sovereign violence, tyranny and usurpation and the manifestations of these ideas on the contemporary English stage. The thesis will attempt to trace an evolution of the poetics of English and Scottish political drama through the early, middle, and late decades of the sixteenth-century in conjunction with developments in the political thought of the century, linking theatre and politics through the representations of the problematic figure of the usurper or, in Machiavellian terms, the ‘New Prince'. I will demonstrate that while the early Tudor morality plays are concerned with the legitimate monarch who becomes a tyrant, the later historical and tragic drama of the century foregrounds the figure of the illegitimate monarch who is a tyrant by default. On the one hand the sudden proliferation of usurpation plots in Elizabethan drama and the transition from the legitimate tyrant to the usurper tyrant is linked to the dramaturgical shift from the allegorical morality play tradition to later history plays and tragedies, and on the other it is reflective of a poetic turn in political thought which impelled political writers to conceive of the state and sovereignty as a product of human ‘poiesis', independent of transcendental legitimization. The poetics of political drama and the emergence of the idea of ‘poiesis' in the political context merge in the figure of the nuove principe: the prince without dynastic claims who creates his sovereignty by dint of his own ‘virtu' and through an act of law-making violence.

Le conflit des generations dans Sous l’orage de Seydou Badian et Le porte-parole du president de Marcel Khombe Mangwanda / Conflict of generations in Sous l’orage by Seydou Badian and Le porte-parole du président by Marcel Khombe Mangwanda

Ntita, Samuel January 1900 (has links)
Seydou Badian, inveterate observant of the daily realities of his native milieu published in 1957 a novel called Sous l’Orage. Marcel Khombe Mangwanda, eyewitness of his native terrirory daily events, mostly those of the professional milieu, on his side, published in 2008 a book called Le Porte-parole du président. After a careful reading of the two novels, we can notice that the two African writers have carefully scrutinized a common theme in their literary work, conflict of generations. What do they mean by conflict of generations? How do they understand and exploit this theme in their respective novels? Which solutions do they propose to old people and to the youths on one hand, to leaders on power and to the people on the other hand, to eradicate the conflict which is in Africa, not only an obstacle to individual blossoming, but also an obstruction for the development of the society, of the country and of the African continent? / Classics & World Languages / M.A. (French)
