Tourism Destination Governance : The case study of Hemavan and TärnabyLiu, Yushan January 2016 (has links)
Destination governance has emerged as a very important issue in local and regional development in Sweden. The article investigates the pattern in which local tourism governance operates based on a single case study of the ski resort of Hemavan and Tärnaby, and evaluates the effectiveness of this governance pattern on local tourism development according to a six-measurement criteria scale. A semi-structured interview approach with open-ended questions was used in this paper. Ten respondents were interviewed in Hemavan and Tärnaby, and they are representatives from both private and public sector. In the concluding section, the results are developed into an evaluation and analysis concerning how the characteristics of the local DMO matter in terms of its governance effectiveness. The results indicate that overall the DMO is an effective form by organizing various actors with mutual resource dependencies. However, the uneven balance of power between Tärnaby and Hemavan, as well as between various network participants, is hard to reconcile, which may strongly influence their governance effectiveness. / Managing Heritage Assets as Tourism Products - The case of the World Heritage of the Falun Copper Mine

Taiwans whale watching industry has been prosper rapidly since 1997 while not any law administering it .Due to free market structure the resource of whale watching would be excessly exploited and the whale watching industry will not exist any more.
There are three research topics on the institutional design of the industry in my article. Namely , the administering department and its related rules for whale watching industry to be established, the cost analysis for governance structure of institution, and the study of franchise for Taiwan¡¦s current whale watching industry.
According to Williamson¡]1991¡^,I present three kinds of organization style¡]i.e. market ,hierarchy organization and their mixed form¡^ and their key differences to figure out the most efficient one.
And finally I come to a conclusion that the franchise is the most efficient of the three kinds of organizational style and can be a reference structure for making law on Taiwan¡¦s whale watching industry.

This paper tests the relationship between corporate governance and corporate value and the relationship between corporate governance and firm performance. A ¡§Governance Index¡¨ is built based on three aspects of the company governance structure: 1. the performance of the broad of directors, 2. ownership structure 3. involvement of capital markets. This index is used as a proxy measure of the effectiveness of the governance mechanism. We propose the firms under good governance should outperform those under poor governance. This paper finds a striking relationship between Governance Index and firm performance. The results imply that the Governance Index built in this paper is successful in evaluating the effectiveness of the governance mechanism of firms in Taiwan.

Studien grundas i digitaliseringskommissionens krav på en ökad koppling mellan IT och verksamhet inom offentlig sektor samt att tidigare studier definierat en rådande problematik gällande IT-arbetet inom offentlig sektor. Vidare grundas studien även i en påvisad problematik gällande en otydlighet om vad organisationer kan arbeta med för att främja mogen IT governance. Studien har som syfte att identifiera faktorer som är viktiga att arbeta med för att en organisation ska nå en hög grad av IT governance-mognad. Med grund i detta formulerades forskningsfrågan ”vad arbetar organisationer inom offentlig sektor med för att främja mogen IT governance”. Data har empiriskt samlats in genom intervjuer och enkäter från 23 olika organisationer, samt teoretiskt genom en litteraturstudie. Det sammanställda materialet har analyserats via tematisk dataanalys. Resultatet är sammanställt i form av faktorer som beskriver vad organisationer kan arbeta med för att främja en mogen IT governance. Resultaten visar att följande faktorer är viktiga att arbeta med: Engagemang, tydlig roll och ansvarsfördelning, IT integreras med andra enheter inom organisationen, IT governance finns med i organisationens framtidsvision, samspel mellan IT och verksamhet, medvetenhet av IT-relaterade risker, mätbarhet, beslutsprocesser gällande IT, tydlig kommunikation gällande IT, anpassad organisationsstruktur, tydligt definierade och uppdaterade ITstyrdokument samt uppföljning. Slutligen, påvisar resultaten även att mogen IT governance är ett område som kräver ett aktivt engagemang över längre tid för att nå sin fulla effekt. Studiens kunskapsbidrag är en tydlig definition av vad organisationer inom offentlig sektor kan fokusera på för att nå mogen IT governance. Detta kan främja den problematik som påvisats gällande IT governance och IT-styrning inom offentlig sektor.
