Detection and velocity of a fast moving object

Gudipudi, Venkata Naga Manikanta Aditya January 2017 (has links)
Over a past few years, technology is constructing the way humans live. With the rapid growth towards Internet of Things (IOT) and other connected services, companies are investigating the ways to enhance current living conditions. There are several devices that are launched in the market to help people to increase flexibility and most of all, to see beyond what is possible. It is helping us reinforce ourselves in our day to day activities. Even in sports, thanks to the latest technological developments, most people’s lives have been enhanced and simplified. Advances in technology has a huge impact on sports which includes- analysis of sport performance, improvements in design of sports equipment and facilitate coaches to provide feedback on players’ performance. Sports equipment continually undergoing research and development to improve sporting performance ensuring a superior game and positive results. Significant technology such as smart gear is popular among athletes to analyse their performance. The equipment usually includes sensors controlled by microcontrollers. The main contribution of this thesis is to investigate the possibilities of a suitable sports equipment to detect and calculate speed of a fast-moving object and providing the drawbacks while using different sensors. In this thesis, IR/Laser sensors, along with a Doppler radar module were tested to put forward a best suitable method to calculate the speed of a fast-moving object and transmit the data over a network.

Internetuppkopplade vågar till Södersjukhuset : Vågar som skickar notifiering vid bestämda värden / Internet Connected Scales for Södersjukhuset : Scales that Send Notification at Specific Values

Mach, Lisa, Kadeepisarn, Maneejun January 2019 (has links)

Design of Inexpensive and Easy to Use DIY Internet of Things Platform

Jaffe, Samuel R 01 June 2016 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a new, inexpensive, and less complex system for a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Internet of Things (IoT) platform. The hardware aspects focus on a new chip called the ESP8266 which contains both microcontroller and WiFi connectivity capabilities in an extremely affordable package. The system uses the Arduino IDE to program the ESP8266, which is known to be an extremely user-friendly environment. All other software is both free and easy to use. Past methods of creating IoT projects involved either expensive hardware, often ranging from $50-$100 per node, or complicated programming requiring a full computer, or a constant connection to an immobile power source. This method costs as little as $2.50, can last for months or even years off of batteries, can be smaller than a quarter, and only requires a few lines of code to get data moving, making this platform much more attractive for ubiquitous use.

Jonsson, Marcus January 2017 (has links)
The work described in this thesis is aimed at comparing Raspberry Pi model 3 B and Arduino Uno with an ESP8266 wifi module to see which one is most suitable to use in a Internet of Things project where data collecting from an sensor, processed and then presented. The method for this comparison is to divide the work. First, price and power consumption will be evaluated. Then, the stability of communication over wifi will be tested. Finally, the time it takes to design a program on the platforms will be measured. The result from the comparison show that the Raspberry Pi is the best choice for this type of Internet of Things projet. However, which platform to choose depends on the specific goals of the project since the platforms are good at different things. A server written in Python communicates with the Raspberry Pi by using socket to socket communication, the Raspberry Pi collects the data from the sensor and then sends it to the server. The server then saves the data in a database by the unit identification number. Then a webpage was designed that presented the data to the user. A usabiity test was done on the webpage and the result from the usability test showed that the test users was satisfied with the usability with the page, exept the choice of colors, which was fiexd.

An Application for the Detection of Signal Strength for ESP8266 Position

Pourshirazi, Aida 01 July 2017 (has links)
Sinkholes are hazardous to buildings and their occupants, so a sensing device that can monitor underground changes is vital. Void Technology, developed in the Research and Development Center at Western Kentucky University, is creating a device that can improve monitoring for any movement underground. This device, created by Void Technology, is equipped with ESP8266, which is a Wi-Fi module that can send its information to the router in a wireless network. The focus of this thesis is on designing and developing an IOS framework application to show the signal strength capabilities in different buildings to find the optimum placement of the Void Technology devices. Each building, based on various construction materials, had different attenuations that could cause signal loss from the application to the ESP82266. The optimum place was found with this designed application. From this test experiment, it can be concluded that the application can show the signal strength based dBm. Thus, this new application is cost-effective as well as user friendly and which can help both the installer and homeowner to find the best position for installing The Void Technology with optimum signal strength.

Jablončík, Lukáš January 2017 (has links)
The master´s thesis deals with the design of the solar heating regulator of the swimming pool. The basis was to study the available solutions for the solar pool controllers, to define the requirements, to design the concept and the block diagram of the own thermostat. The thesis also provides a description of several for the Internet of Things. The most suitable is used to control the thermostat. The resulting thermostat regulates two power outputs for filtration and the pump, it can be set using the keyboard and graphic display. At the end of the work is practically verified functionality on the model and on the real pool with solar heating.
