Quality of Service for IP Networks : In Theory and Practice / Quality of service för IP-nätverk : i teori och praktik

Rosen, Magnus von January 2002 (has links)
Quality of Service (QoS) for IP networks is a set of methods for establishing better and more reliable performance for today's and tomorrow's networks. When transmitting real-time data from such applications as IP telephony, video conferencing and IP broadcasting, it is imperative that the data is transmitted quickly and with even delays. Longer delays mean problems when communicating, varying transfer times means that data packets are delivered too late to be used, or even dropped. As network applications grow more demanding, the networks can not always keep up. Even though a network may offer more bandwidth than needed, disturbances to sound and picture is to be expected because of the competition with other data traffic. QoS can solve many such problems by reserving private channels through a network, or differentiating classes of traffic to prioritise the sensitive data. QoS also contains methods to speed up backbone data transfers by in advance planning complete routes over a network, and avoiding congested or broken connections. This report explains QoS as it stands today, together with suggestions on how it could work for Axis Communications AB. It also presents an experiment to test some QoS methods in a real-time sensitive situation, demonstrating the effectiveness and priceworthiness of QoS.

Nilsson, Joakim, Gashi, Edison January 2011 (has links)

INSTRUMENTING AN ETHERNET AVIONICS BUS FOR APACHE TESTING

Cuevas, Vannesa, Diehl, Michael, Wilcox, Tab 10 1900 (has links)
Last year, the U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) faced a short suspense requirement to instrument an Apache's Ethernet bus. YPG was able to implement an effective method to satisfy this requirement; however, more capable and effective methodologies could not be developed and utilized due to time constraints. While continuing to support ongoing Apache testing, YPG is working to implement more efficient methods to capture and utilize the Ethernet data. This paper will discuss YPG’s initial implementation and the follow-on efforts being pursued.

Podpora kvality služeb v koncových aplikacích / Quality of services support in the end applications

Zelinka, Jiří January 2008 (has links)
The topic of this diploma thesis has been chosen for a discussion and implementation of quality of service on the application and link layer of the OSI model. At the beginning of this thesis the general parameters and basic technologies of the OSI model network layer has been explained. This part was chosen as a resource for explanation of the basic parameters in the quality of services. Basic part is followed by the introduction to the Ethernet technology, which became as a ground for the real model in this diploma thesis. As a part of this section has been written a block which contains a analysis of quality of services in the Ethernet, which means the implementation of IEEE 802.1Q/p. This analysis is followed by structured descrition of the controlling and functionality of quality of services parameters on the link layer with the system tool in the Windows XP, description of Win XP link layer drivers and its modification with system tool tcmon. The end of the theoretical part is represented by introduction to the implementation of quality of service in the wireless networks especially the 802.11e standard. At the beginning of the practical part is specified the description of the topology design which is dedicated to the quality of services implementation. This section is developed to well-founded analysis of applications which were used during topology creating. The last segment of this thesis is dedicated to evolving the practical informations which were obtained during the measurement.

Modul elektrické zabezpečovací ústředny s komunikátorem Ethernet / Module of electronic security central with Ethernet communicator

Strašil, Ivo January 2010 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with a design of a burglar alarm control panel, equipped with an Ethernet interface. The thesis contains a discusson of present solutions of control panels and of present usage of Ethernet communication. An idea of sensors, directly connected to LAN, was discarded on basis of a component price survey. Finally, a new concept of the panel has been chosen. This concept allows a free definition of internal logic using a C-like scripting and provides a possibility to create a network of these panels in a LAN network, using a software-only supervising main control panel. A new control panel following this concept was designed and succesfully tested.

Propojení sítí IEEE 802.15.4 a Ethernet / Interconnection of IEEE 802.15.4 and Ethernet networks

Pavlata, Karel January 2011 (has links)
Táto práca sa venuje probému prepojovania rôznych typov sietí, konkrétne sietí typu IEEE 802.15.4 a Ethernetu. Motivácia vychádza zo stále sa rozširujúceho využitia bezdrátových senzorických sietí, potreby zberu dát z nich a ich integrácie. To vyžaduje aby sieť obsahovala prvky schopné preniesť dáta z bezdrátovej siete do okolitého sveta a prípadne poskytnúť konfiguračné a riadiace informácie do vnútra siete.

Bayerová, Zuzana January 2012 (has links)
The semestral thesis describes ECG signal compression methods designed to modify the data for transmission via communication channels. The thesis contains an introduction to Ethernet and explanation of communication in the network. The transport protocols TCP and UDP are discussed in more detail. In the practical part of the thesis was created two separate applications. The first application in the sender's computer opens a text file with the ECG signal. Loaded ECG signal is filtered by cascade of filters to eliminate interference. The resulting signal is displayed. A part of the application is the R wave detection, calculating the length of RR interval and heart rate. The application also allows to compress an ECG signal. ECG signal is sent via Ethernet network via UDP protocol for individual samples. Applications in the recipient's computer receives signal samples from the network. Recieved compressed data is reconstructed. The resulting ECG signal is displayed and there are again detected R waves, the length of RR intervals and sampling frequency are calculated.
