No. of bitstreams: 1 5693.pdf: 3838428 bytes, checksum: 140390bb7cd002183a3802c0f0814d8c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-12-13 / Early career, presented by its complexity, is still in a little explored topic in the world of teacher education. Given the importance of conducting research on the period and the interest in the implementation of actions directed to the initial and continuing training and start teaching, we intend, in this study, know and understand the pedagogical practices of a novice teacher of Physical Education and sources that influence the construction of knowledge in the course of his career. Based on this goal, we reflect on the teacher beginner, the characteristics and implications of this period, initial training in Physical Education, the dimensions of the processes of learning and professional development and teacher knowledge. Similarly, we contextualize Physical Education resuming its historical trajectory to provide visibility and understanding of the constitution of the area, we situate the various trends, we present the construction of the concept of body culture, based our education on a full-length, legislation for Physical Education and studies on the teaching of physical education in the early years of elementary school. Subsidized by qualitative research, we developed a case study with a Physical Education teacher in her fourth year of professional experience in the early years in two schools in the school system of the State Secretary of Education of São Paulo (SSE-SP) in Bauru. We conducted observations, interviews, analyzing documents, we characterize the teacher, contextualize schools and present how the analysis axes were constructed. Based on analyzes of the axes "school subject", "nature of practices: organization, reasoning and evaluation", "teachers dilemmas" and "challenges of physical education in school interventions, relationships and perspectives", consider the participant, not as a beginner teacher, but as a teacher of early career by moving between developing practices successful and some conflicts commonly experienced in the period from entry into teaching, evidence that generally are not defined by the literature on the subject. Such practices are based on a contextualized and interdisciplinary teaching perspective, redefines student learning beyond the procedures. The dialogue with the literature, exchanges with peers, courses and previous experiences reveal the intentionality of the actions of participants and their commitment to the students and the training itself. As a result, their practices relate to the characteristics of a good teacher and an experienced teacher and confirmed the need for public policies to understand the teacher as builder and transmitter of knowledge, to take ownership of this knowledge to propose actions to facilitate training and optimize the process of learning and professional development, helping to ease the hardships of his early career. Also, we intuit that this study may contribute to the early reflections essential to systematize guidelines for public policies for initial and continuing training of physical education teachers who work and who will act in the early years of elementary education in the schools of SSE-SP, and concomitantly promote new dialogues on pedagogical practices of teachers of Physical Education beginners.

Kdo a proč odchází z vědy? Vývoj profesní identity začínajících vědců a vědkyň a jeho oborová a genderová specifika / Who leaves academia and why? Professional identity development of early career researchers and its field and gender specific

Cidlinská, Kateřina January 2020 (has links)
The thesis follows the research stream focused on changes to the academic environment in the recent decades and their impact on academic professional paths and identities. Specifically, it is concerned with the phenomenon of attrition from academic profession which is pursued through a perspective of professional identity. We understand academic identities as an integral part of current changes to the academic environment and their study thus may help us better understand the changes as well as their influence on the development of academic ambitions. The aim of the thesis is to ascertain what kind of people and with what kind of professional identities enter and leave academia and for what reasons, and on this basis to identify barriers to the development of academic identities and paths. Special attention is paid to research field and gender aspects of the development of professional identities in order to explore the possible influence of specific structural factors (mainly field specific organization of academic production and gender specific biographies) and gain information needed for appropriate policy measures aimed at supporting professional development of early-career researchers. The analysis is based on narrative interviews with people who left academic professional path. The outcome of...

The relationship between the coping resources and psychological career resources of graduates

Esterhuizen, Kerith Ann 11 1900 (has links)
This study explored both the relationship between coping resources (as measured by the Coping Resources Inventory) and psychological career resources (as measured by the Psychological Career Resources Inventory) and also whether individuals from different gender and employment status groups (part-time work experience versus no work experience) differ significantly regarding their coping resources and psychological career resources. A cross-sectional survey design and quantitative statistical procedures were used to analyse the data which was obtained from a purposive non-probability sample of N = 197 early career unemployed, black graduates. The results showed significant positive associations between psychological career resources and coping resources. It also emerged that the male and female participants differed significantly with regard to their emotional, spiritual and physical coping resources and the psychological career resources of career harmonisers and career drivers. In addition, it was found that those participants who had part-time work experience displayed a significantly higher need for career venturing and also manifested higher behavioural adaptability than those who had no work experience. Recommendations for future research and practice were made. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M.A. (Industrial and Organisational Psychology)

Early career research investigators' experience of clinical research

Pelser, Wilma 06 1900 (has links)
Abstract in English and Afrikaans / The clinical research enterprise is an industry in crisis due to the challenges investigators and sites experience to stay viable. Clinical researchers might therefore also become an “endangered species”. The purpose of this study was to gain an understanding of early career research investigators’ experience of clinical research. A generic, exploratory, descriptive and contextual qualitative design was used. Fourteen participants were recruited and interviewed face-to-face from three different clinical research sites in the Gauteng. Data were analysed thematically and cyclically. Findings indicated that early career investigators entered the clinical research “maze” for various reasons and levels of preparedness. As they explored the maze, early career investigators found their way into a labyrinth, all the while making discoveries about the clinical environment and their own desires. They finally reached a point where they needed to move beyond the centre of the labyrinth and ask ‘Quo Vadis’ (where are we going to)? / Health Studies / M.A. (Nursing Science)
