Os novos modelos de gestão: análise e algumas práticas em empresas brasileiras

Após analisar as características de cada modelo, relata três estudos de caso de empresas brasileiras que estão aplicando algumas das novas práticas gerenciais. / The main purpose of this thesis is to contribute to understanding the new approaches of management. The study is composed of three parts: the first describes the evolution of the ‘corporate eras’, since the Second Industrial Revolution (‘mass production’) until the lnformation Society (‘competitivity era’); the second part is a description of a conceptual framework of the new approaches of management, including the following: japanese management; participative management; entre/intrapreneurial management; holistic management; and virtual corporation. Finally, the third partis a report of three case studies about the evolution of the management in brazilian innovative companies. Thus, the study is a descriptive research. The main conclusion is that the brazilian companies need rapidly to cope their managerial models to the new approaches to survive in the turbulent nineties. The study resulted in a set of recommendations about the introduction of the new approaches of management in brazilian companies.

The research hypothesis is that behavioral factors influence the manager and thereby affect a company’s level of debt financing. The sample group consists of 76 companies, covering the period from 1998 to 2010. The presence of an entrepreneur manager (a manager that has founded a company in the past) was used to check the influence of entrepreneur managers in the company’s capital structure. The econometric results confirm the hypothesis that the presence of an entrepreneur manager is a determinant factor of a company’s capital structure. The results suggest that behavioral biases are meaningful factors regarding corporate decisions, reducing the asymmetric information between agents and principal. The following factors are also relevant to a company’s capital structure: profitability, growth and tangibility of assets. / O presente trabalho busca analisar a relação entre a estrutura de capital e de seus fatores determinantes de empresas brasileiras com capital aberto. A hipótese da pesquisa é que fatores comportamentais do gestor afetem o endividamento das empresas. Foi utilizada uma amostra com 76 empresas no período de 1998 a 2010. Foi verificado se a presença de gestores empreendedores (gestores que fundaram uma empresa no passado) influencia na estrutura de capital das empresas. Os resultados econométricos confirmam a hipótese de que a presença de gestores empreendedores é um fator determinante na estrutura de capital. Tal relação pode ser analisada por investidores antes da decisão de alocação de recursos, reduzindo a assimetria de informação entre agentes e principal. Também se mostram relevantes fatores como a rentabilidade, o crescimento e a tangibilidade do ativo das empresas.
