The work also aims to fill a gap in the historiography, in which Cunha Barbosa image is linked mainly to political activity at the period of Independence of Brazil. The focus of research is on biographical writings of Cunha Barbosa as an important part not only of their individual literate production but also the historiographical project of IHGB to which this production has remained linked. I propose also aims to identify the categories of great man, genius and historical providentialism that are embedded in these biographical accounts, besides highlighting the pedagogical and moralizing function of these biographies, whose writing is in tune with the exemplary conception of history as well as the concern of its author to do this writing mode of a privileged form of access to the past of the nation. / Esta disserta??o tem como objetivo analisar as biografias elaboradas por Janu?rio da Cunha Barbosa, dentro do Instituto Hist?rico e Geogr?fico Brasileiro (IHGB), no per?odo de 1839 a 1846, momento em que desempenhou o cargo de primeiro secret?rio perp?tuo. O trabalho tamb?m pretende preencher uma lacuna dentro da historiografia, na qual a imagem de Cunha Barbosa est? atrelada principalmente ? atua??o pol?tica no momento de Independ?ncia do Brasil. O foco da investiga??o est? nos escritos biogr?ficos de autoria de Cunha Barbosa, como parte relevante n?o somente da sua produ??o letrada individual, mas tamb?m do projeto historiogr?fico do IHGB, ao qual essa produ??o manteve-se vinculada. Tamb?m proponho como objetivos identificar as categorias de grande homem, g?nio e de providencialismo hist?rico que est?o imbricadas nesses relatos biogr?ficos, al?m de evidenciar o car?ter pedag?gico e a fun??o moralizante dessas biografias, cuja escrita est? afinada com a concep??o exemplar de hist?ria, bem como a preocupa??o de seu autor em fazer desta modalidade de escrita uma forma privilegiada de acesso ao passado da na??o.

The official reports about the episode say that, as a result of the moments of tension, shots were made toward the crowd that had stayed in front of the steel plant, resulting in hospitalization of dozens of people and in the death of eight others. Our goal is to analyze how the memories and narratives of these historical events have been influenced by the historical contexts of the following decades, especially during the brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985) and later process of Redemocratiza??o. In this historical period, we observed that economic, political and social factors contributed to that during the 60?s and 70?s, the "tragic events of 1963" passed by silencing processes, which also lined to plans of local authorities to control closely the labor movement in steel plant and disseminating an ideal of progress and social harmony in the region. However, in the next decade, with the strengthening of new political and social groups in the city of Ipatinga, the narratives of the "protests and deaths of 1963", get recovered and recollected by the perspectives and motivations of this different historical moment. / Este trabalho visa, dentre outros objetivos, analisar as disputas de mem?ria compreendidas dentre os anos 1963-1990 sobre o conflito que envolveu policiais e habitantes do povoado de Ipatinga e se realizou em um dos port?es da Usiminas, na manh? do dia 7 de outubro de 1963. Os laudos oficiais sobre o epis?dio relatam que, em consequ?ncia dos momentos de tens?o, disparos foram efetuados em dire??o ? multid?o que se aglomerava em frente ? usina sider?rgica, resultando na hospitaliza??o de dezenas de pessoas e na morte de outras oito. Nesse contexto, nosso objetivo ? analisar como as mem?rias e narrativas desses acontecimentos foram influenciados pelos contextos hist?ricos das d?cadas seguintes, principalmente durante o per?odo da Ditadura Militar (1964-1985) e do posterior processo de redemocratiza??o da pol?tica nacional. Dentro do recorte hist?rico que elegemos, observamos que fatores econ?micos, pol?ticos e sociais contribu?ram para que, durante os anos 1960 e 1970, os ?eventos tr?gicos de 1963? passassem por processos de silenciamento, os quais tamb?m se alinhavam aos planos das autoridades locais de controlar ?de perto? o movimento oper?rio na sider?rgica e disseminar um ideal de progresso e harmonia social na regi?o. Por?m, na d?cada seguinte, com o fortalecimento de novos grupos pol?ticos e sociais na cidade de Ipatinga, as narrativas sobre os ?protestos e mortes de 1963? passam a ser recuperadas e rememoradas sob a ?tica e as motiva??es desse diferente momento hist?rico.

The dissertation analyzes the forms of housing the slaves and their descendants have sought to live in full power from slavery, is it at the center of Imperial Court, in Rio de Janeiro, is it at the suburban parish of S?o Crist?v?o. This paper discusses, among other topics, the so-called ?living out on oneself?, i.e, the possibility for a slave to live outside the house. Among the main sources used met the census carried out to the parish of S?o Crist?v?o and death records of the S?o Francisco Xavier cemetery. / Estudo das moradias de escravos, libertos e pessoas livres de cor na Corte Imperial, durante a segunda metade do s?culo XIX. A disserta??o procura analisar as formas de moradia que escravos e seus descendentes buscaram morar em plena vig?ncia da escravid?o, seja no centro da Corte Imperial, no Rio de Janeiro, seja na suburbana freguesia de S?o Crist?v?o. Esta disserta??o discute, dentre outras coisas, o chamado ?viver sobre si?, isto ?, a possibilidade do escravo morar fora da casa senhorial. Entre as principais fontes utilizadas encontrou-se o recenseamento efetuado para a Par?quia de S?o Crist?v?o e os registros de ?bitos do cemit?rio de S?o Francisco Xavier.
