This study focus on how physical and virtual meeting places may promote collaboration between firms and academia for the development of innovations. A case study was conducted on a meeting place that aims to support collaboration for the development of innovations in eHealth between different actors in the Linnaeus region. Data was collected through 6 interviews, whereas 3 with scientists and 3 with entrepreneurs. The data was analyzed based on a theoretical framework based on different perspectives on collaboration and networks, meetings and interaction and, physical and virtual meeting places. The results show that the purpose for collaboration is to be included in a network with other actors in the same area, gain increased knowledge of the subject area and to acquire new external contacts. Furthermore, in order to support collaboration, physical meeting places have to organize effective and interesting meetings. In addition, virtual meeting places should provide opportunities for discussion and, worldwide news coverage. What is more, the physical and virtual meeting places aiming to support collaboration for a specific purpose and for a specific network of actors should be integrated. This implies for example that the virtual meeting places should provide opportunities for participants to attend at an announced physical meeting synchronously. Furthermore, the virtual meeting place should also provide possibilities to continue a discussion that was initiated at the physical meeting. This study has concluded that the collaborative development of innovation means creating new business opportunities for entrepreneurs and receive input to current and future research for researchers. To support collaboration in the development of innovations meetings and interaction are needed. Virtual and physical meeting places needs to integrate physical and virtual interaction in the development of innovations. / Denna studie fokuserar på hur fysiska och virtuella mötesplatser kan främja samarbete mellan företag och akademi för att utveckla innovationer. En fallstudie genomfördes på en mötesplats som syftar till att stödja samarbete för utveckling av innovationer inom eHälsa mellan olika aktörer i Linné regionen. Datainsamling genomfördes med 6 intervjuer varar 3 med forskare och 3 med företagare. Data analyserades utifrån ett teoretiskt ramverk som bygger på olika perspektiv på samverkan och nätverk, möten och interaktion samt fysiska och virtuella mötesplatser. Resultaten visar att syftet med samarbetet är att ingå i nätverk med andra aktörer inom samma intresseområde, få ökad kunskap om ämnesområdet och att skapa nya externa kontakter. För att stödja samarbete måste fysiska mötesplatser organisera effektiva och intressanta möten. Dessutom bör virtuella mötesplatser ge möjlighet till diskussion och omvärldsbevakning. Fysiska och virtuella mötesplatser som stödjer samarbete för ett specifikt syfte och nätverk bör integreras. Detta innebär till exempel att de virtuella mötesplatserna ska ge möjligheter för deltagarna att närvara synkront oberoende av tid och rum vid ett fysiskt möte. Vidare bör den virtuella mötesplatsen ge möjligheter för att fortsätta fysiska diskussioner virtuellt. Den här studien har kommit fram till att samarbete för utveckling av innovationer innebär att skapa nya affärsmöjligheter för företagare och få input till nuvarande och fortsatt forskning för forskare. För att stödja samarbete vid utveckling av innovationer behövs möten och interaktion. Virtuella och fysiska mötesplatser ska samspela vid utveckling av innovationer genom att integrera fysisk och virtuell interaktion.
