For this reason, many scientific researches is currently focused on the study of materials at ever smaller scales, in order to understand and better control the properties of nanoscale systems, i.e. with dimensions of the order of nanometers, such as thin film ferromagnetic. In this work, we analyze the structural and magnetic properties and magnetoresistance effect in Permalloy-ferromagnetic thin films produced by magnetron sputtering. In this case, since the magnetoresistance effect dependent interfaces of thin films, this work is devoted to the study of the magnetoresistance in samples of Permalloy in nominal settings of: Ta[4nm]/Py[16nm]/Ta[4nm], Ta[4nm]/Py[16nm]/O2/Ta[4nm], Ta[4nm]/O2/Py[16nm]/Ta[4nm], Ta[4nm]/O2/Py[16n m]/O2/Ta[4nm], as made and subjected to heat treatment at temperatures of 160?C, 360?C e 460?C, in order to verify the influence of the insertion of the oxygen in the layer structure of samples and thermal treatments carried out after production of the samples. Caracterização e monitoramento remoto aplicado a um sensor magnetoelástico

Felizari, Alessandra January 2016 (has links)
New amorphous magnetic materials have magnetic and elastic properties which allows the identification and control of environmental parameters remotely. This work was based in the investigation of a magnetoelastic thin strip, widely used as anti-theft device. In this study it was discussed the employment of this material as a sensor capable identify an environmental change through magnetoelasticity. In order to characterize the strips it was employed several techniques, namely: finite element modeling of the vibrational modes, electromagnetic impedance and laser interferometry. It was presented an analysis of the displacement of the longitudinal modes. The knowledge of the vibration mode allowed the sensor electric characterization when subjected to environmental changes. According to the sample dimensions under magnetic field, test systems were developed in order to perform optic and electric measurements. A proper parameter adjustment of the power supply allowed the determination of the fundamental and higher order resonance frequencies. The magnetostrictive behaviour of the anti-theft strips is related to the Young modulus where the vibration frequency is inversely proportional to the length of the strip. Studies showed that the strip performance is also related to many other parameters, such as the mechanical and electromagnetic properties and the environment to which it is exposed. The strips here presented are largely employed as sensor for temperature, pressure, density, mas variation, viscosity and flux velocity mainly because their wireless capabilities. The data from the polarization field are a section of the knowledge required to better investigate the best performance of the sensor. The sensor characterization through several techniques applied in viscous media and under pressure raise some issues. However, the construction of some devices allowed the application of different values of viscosity and pressure upon the magnetized strip. This made the results interpretation less complex. The resonances were observed in the experimental data and mathematical modellin. Calibration curves were defined to make the results interpretation easier.Previously applied and studied techniques which cover the characterization and behaviour of the material provide valid justifications for the implementation of remote sensors made of amorphous metallic strips. The results presented here justify the application of the analysed amorphous strip as a viscosity and pressure sensor in isolated enviroments.

Structures minces férromagnétiques et férroélectriques / Ferromagnetic and ferroelectric thin structures

Chacouche, Khaled 10 February 2017 (has links)
This thesis deals with partial differential equations coming from mathematical physics. Particularly, starting from 3D models for ferromagnetism and ferroelectricity, we derive 1D and 2D models via asymptotic processes based on dimensional reduction methods. The 3D model for ferromagnetism was proposed by W.F. Brown in the 40s and it is based on a system introduced by L.D. Landau and E.M. Lifschitz in 1935. About the ferroelectric model, we refer tothe papers of P. Chandra and P.B. Littlewood, W. Zhang and K. Bhattacharya and to the book of T. Mitsui, I. Taksuzaki, and E. Nakamura. This thesis based on three works:At the beginning, we consider micromagnetic energy, with some degenerating coefficients, in a thin wire. After showing the existence of minimizers, we identify the limit energy as the section of the wire vanishes. In the second part, we study the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of a time dependent micromagnetic problem in a multi-structure consisting of two joined thin wires. We assume that the volumes of the two wires vanish with same rate. We obtain two 1D limit problems coupled by a junction condition on the magnetization. The limit problem remains non-convex, but now it becomes completely local. In the last chapter, starting from a non-convex and nonlocal 3D variational model for the electric polarization in a ferroelectric material, and using an asymptotic process based on dimensional reduction, we analyze junction phenomena for two orthogonal joined ferroelectric thin films. We obtain three different 2D-variational models for joined thin films, depending on how the reduction happens. We note that, a memory effect of the reduction process appears, and it depends on the competition of the relative thickness of the two films: The guide parameter is the limit of the ratio between these two small thickness

Optimization of electromagnetic and acoustic performances of power transformers / Optimisation des performances électromagnétiques et acoustiques des transformateurs

Liu, Mingyong 25 October 2017 (has links)
This thesis deals with the prediction of the vibration of a multi-layer transformer core made of an assembly of electrical sheets. This magneto-mechanical coupled problem is solved by a stepping finite element method sequential approach: magnetic resolution is followed by mechanical resolution. A 3D Simplified Multi-Scale Model (SMSM) describing both magnetic and magnetostrictive anisotropies is used as the constitutive law of the material. The transformer core structure is modeled in 2D and a homogenization technique is implemented to take the anisotropic behavior of each layer into consideration and define an average behavior at each element of the finite element mesh. Experimental measurements are then carried out, allowing the validation of the material constitutive law, static structural behavior, dynamic structural behavior, and the noise estimation. Different materials geometries are considered for this workStructural optimizations are finally achieved by numerical simulation for lower vibration and noise emission of the transformer cores.

Introduction des techniques numériques pour les capteurs magnétiques GMI (Giant Magneto-Impedance) à haute sensibilité : mise en œuvre et performances / Introduction of digital techniques for high sensitivity GMI (Giant Magneto-Impedance) magnetic sensors : implementation and performances

Traore, Papa Silly 19 October 2017 (has links)
The Giant Magneto-Impedance (GMI) is a large change of the impedance of some soft ferromagnetic materials, supplied by an alternating high-frequency excitation current, when they are submitted to an external magnetic field. This thesis presents the design and performance of an original digital architecture for high-sensitivity GMI sensors. The core of the design is a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) which controls two other key elements: a Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) and a Software Defined Radio (SDR) or digital receiver. The choice of these digital concepts is justified by the will to reduce the conditioning electronics noise that limits the equivalent magnetic noise level. The latter characterizes the smallest measurable field by the sensor. The developed conditioning system is associated with the off-diagonal magnetic configuration in order to increase the intrinsic sensitivity of the sensitive element. This magnetic configuration consists of the use of an additional a pick-up coil wound around the ferromagnetic material. This association also makes it possible to obtain an asymmetrical characteristic (odd function) of the sensor response near the zero-field point and to consequently allow for sensor implementation and use without any bias magnetic field. Thus, this choice eliminates, or at least minimizes, the problems related to the offset cancelling of the GMI devices. Also, it validates the advantage of this magnetic configuration, especially the choice of the operating point. Modeling of the noise performance of the entire measurement chain, including the digital conditioning, is performed. A comparison between the expected and measured equivalent magnetic noise levels is then carried out. The results yield general optimization laws for a digital GMI sensor. Using these laws, an optimized prototype of a GMI sensor is designed and implemented on FPGA. An equivalent magnetic noise level in a white noise zone region of approximately 1 pT/√ Hz is obtained. Furthermore, this work also makes it possible to validate the interest of digital techniques in the realization of a high-sensitivity measuring devices.

We use the formulation of quantization of spin waves of Holstein-Primako to investigate properties of the spin wave propagation dynamics in the ferrimagnetic material YIG and also in the antiferromagnetic system FeF2. For each of them, we have developed theoretical models to adjust the dispersion relations of spin waves measured experimentally in these systems. In addition, we investigated the magnon energy renormalization using the formalism of two-time temperature dependent Green's functions of Bogoliubov-Tyablikov. The application for the YIG allowed calculate the variation of the dispersion relation for magnons with temperature. We also investigate the magnon energy renormalization in the system FeF2, but this time considering an approximation of the RPA type. In the energy renormalization were considered two contributions: exchange isotropic Heisenberg and uniaxial anisotropy type. In our calculations the temperature dependence of the uniaxial anisotropy eld allows estimating the critical spin- op transition for the antiferromagnetic phase stability limit. Also, we have undertaken a theoretical and experimental study of the magneto crystalline anisotropy of the antiferromagnetic material RbMnF3, based on the crystal eld interactions and spin-orbit interaction, in order to calculate the variation with temperature of the eld spin- op. The spin waves in YIG were studied in more detail calculating the relaxation rate due to 3-magnons and 4-magnons scattering processes considering strong magnetic elds of hundreds of kOe. Finally, we have studied thermal transport properties of magnons in YIG subject to intense magnetic elds. We have, calculate of the speci c heat and thermal conductivity of magnons at low temperatures and high elds to compare with the experimental measurements nding a good agreement between theory and experiment [145].
