This study investigates educators' experiences in choosing material for learners in the inclusive classroom setting as clearly stated in chapter one. Chapter two explored the literature on the learning and teaching support materials and the processes involved. The definition of learning and teaching support materials was explored. The kinds, importance and role of learning and teaching support, were discussed and the role is seen as a vehicle which enhances the awareness for expression and opportunities to capture evidence of learners knowledge. Guidelines to consider in the process of selecting learning and teaching support materials and the utilization thereof, as well as the funding of learning and teaching support materials received attention. This chapter further explored the inclusive classroom where inclusion is defined; the nature of inclusive classroom was discussed. The benefits and the criticism of inclusive classroom settings were also explored. In chapter three, the empirical research design used in the study is discussed. Focus group interviews in qualitative study were used to explore educators' experiences in choosing learning and teaching support material in inclusive classroom settings. Chapter four highlighted the research methods used to investigate the problems of this study. The application of the focus interview was explained in detail because the focus group was used for the collection of data which was analysed and interpreted. The data revealed that educators experience a number of difficulties in choosing learning and teaching support materials for learners in inclusive classroom settings. The effect of funding scheme on the performance of Navy repair activities

As systems, their architecture has a controlling effect on their behavior. One factor that works throughout the architecture is the particular funding scheme and the rules, both written and cultural, that any particular scheme brings with it. This paper examines the interaction of funding scheme, as a rules-based force, with the changing architectures of Navy repair activities to try to determine the effect of the funding scheme on the performance of that architecture. It shows that changes to the architecture of the ship maintenance system in the Northwest region have worked together with a conversion of the funding scheme to Mission Funding to improve the decisions that are made within that architecture. / Civilian, Department of the Navy

Financing Success through Equity crowdfunding : The case of Start-ups and SMEs funded on a European crowdfunding platform

Due to changes of regulations in the banking sector after the credit crunch, equity crowdfunding has become an alternative funding source in raising capital for small and medium sized enterprises, that face a lack of financial resources or trustworthiness. The aim of this thesis is to identify the determinants of a successful equity crowdfunding project. We base the study on a sample of 398 projects pitched on an equity crowdfunding platform (Crowdcube) between 2011-2016. The analysis of the cross-section dataset is conducted of Logit, Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and Negative Binomial regression models. The results show that the more investors participate in the investment, the higher is the success of equity crowdfunding. Moreover, a higher equity participation offered to the investors also has a positive impact on the financing success. However, a prior crowdfunding history of the company does not raise its reliability. Moreover, technology companies are less trusted by the investors and less successful on equity crowdfunding platform. Depending on the model used, start-up companies usually gain a higher success with their pitch, which can be positively influenced by a high social media presence.

The impact of four basic capital project funding models for state participation was determined for the school districts in Texas. A review of the historical background for funding of capital projects and improvements by states was followed by a review of the historical background of state support for funding capital projects in the State of Texas. Additionally, the current funding models and methods of determining need were reviewed for all of the states. This historical review revealed that facility funding, like aid for maintenance and operation, has evolved with all the states at different stages.

Impact of Funding Changes on Selected Education Service Centers Considerations for Programming and Staffing for Continued Effectiveness in Equlizaing Educational Opportunities

The purpose of this study was three-fold: 1. To determine the amount and direction of changes in sources of funding for the Regional Education Service Centers from 1979 to 1984. 2. To determine the percent of change in programming expenditures of the Regional Education Service Centers from 1979 to 1984. 3. To rate the changes in quality of programming as perceived by the superintendents of the local school districts receiving services from 1979 to 1984. A review of the literature and a brief history of the Regional Education Service Centers of Texas were followed by tabular and narrative descriptions of the findings. Deflated data, to account for inflation, were derived by applying Bureau of Labor statistics formulas to dollar amounts supplied by the Regional Education Service Centers. Each of the five Education Service Centers included in the study experienced a decrease in total funds, due chiefly to a cut in federal and state support. Although local contributions increased in four out of five of the Regions during the five-year period, the net result to the Centers was a decrease in funding ranging from 23.2 percent to 51.8 percent. The impact on programming was severe. Of the nine major services on which data was gathered—media services, data processing, counseling/guidance, special education, migrant education, bus driver training, staff development, drug education/crime prevention, and bilingual education— two had been eliminated in all of the Regions included in the study by 19 84, and some of the Regions had discontinued services in other areas as well. Surveys for rating the services of the Education Service Centers were sent to 126 current superintendents who held the same position in 1979. The results indicated that although fewer dollars had been expended and some services had been eliminated, the quality of programming had not diminished from 1979 to 1984.

The study is limited to the areas of faculty salaries and departmental operating expenses. Particular effort is made to determine whether the methods used by the various institutions in allocating funds to academic departments are based upon the number of semester hours taught by each department and therefore upon the amount of funds the departments produce under the state formula system.

On April 11, 1953, President Dwight D. Eisenhower put into effect Reorganization Plan No. 1 of 1953, creating a new cabinet level department within the federal government. The new Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW) was a consolidation of organizations dealing with national social concerns. Some of the organizations dated back to 1785 when the Congress of the Confederation first set aside public lands for schools. This paper concerns the creation and growth of the department of Health, Education and Welfare, including it's various educational programs, educational research programs, aid to higher education, federally impacted areas, and other HEW programs which affect education.

The American Public Art Museum: Formation of its Prevailing Attitudes

The history of the art museum's growth in America is presented in this thesis to place the development of the public art museum in the proper context. The museum has absorbed its sense of worth and power from the people who shaped its policy and believed in its ability to accomplish positive feats. Its growth as a force in the art world was subtle and studied, but amazingly complete. The museum which doubts its ability to persuade, convince, educate and entertain does not long survive. Examining the people and their attitudes with whom the museums had the most contact and noting its response to the world in which it has operated, the parallels are strikingly similar. The museum is strong because groups contributed to its growth and maturity; its weaknesses are those in which the three factions were also less effective. There are no hard and fast truths to prove this theory -- but examination of its plausability is a valuable tool for understanding how the museum became such an important institution of our time.

A Qualitative Study of the Use and Value of Financial Performance Indicators in Selected Community Colleges in the State of Texas as Perceived by their Chief Executive Officers

Throughout the United States, colleges and universities are faced with an increasing need for financial funding, while at the same time resources continue to diminish. With the limitations of available funds, community colleges must exhibit efficiencies in the operations of their institutions. External interests, such as governing boards and legislatures, require demonstration of efficient financial management. This evidence is then used to make decisions concerning future financial support for the community college. This study determined if community college chief executive officers use financial performance indicators as provided by the State Auditor's Office and if the chief executive officers of the community colleges value the compilation and the distribution of the financial performance indicators. In the selected colleges, many of the chief executive officers depend on their chief financial officer for understanding and application of financial performance indicators. The performance indicators distributed by the Auditor's Office captured only a snapshot of the college's performance, and failed to fully describe the whole college performance or specific financial events captured by the indicators. Though the indicators had flaws, either through incorrect data or lack of explanation, the CEOs did value their compilation because they provided a means for ‘getting the community college story' to decision makers external to the college.The State Auditor's performance indicators were developed using a university model. Because of the distinct difference in mission between the community college and the university, several of the indicators were not applicable to the community colleges. The CEOs suggested that another set of indicators be developed, using community college input, that would better capture the financial performance of the colleges. The new set of indicators should be simplified and measure only those areas, such as revenues and expenditures, that are truly comparable from one institution to another.

This thesis focuses on sustainable funding of long-term care for ageing population in the Czech Republic. In Europe the population is constantly ageing and the health-care especially the long-term care is a constantly growing burden for the fiscal policy. The current status of funding of the long- term care in the Czech Republic is unsustainable. We work with predictions about the evolution of number of citizens in the Czech Republic in the middle-run perspective. Then we discuss long-term care systems across the European Union and OECD members. Further we propose a model based on German long-term care system and provide a framework for structural change of long-term care funding that would lead to sustainability of the system. We also discuss some amendments that should lead to higher efficiency of the system and less the burden.
