Using feedback mechanisms to facilitate dialogue learning process through the use of action researchHsu, Ting-wan 30 June 2005 (has links)
Reviewing domestic related researches about dialogue, most of them focused on its effectiveness. This research focused on how to facilitate the learning of dialouge. We firstly reviewed the references about ¡§learning¡¨ and ¡§dialogue¡¨; and then described the action research process of how Systems Thinking and Organizational Lab designed the feedback mechanisms to facilite the learning process on dialogue for Company A. We also analyzed every feedback mechanisms about its effectiveness in this research.
We found out that feedback mechanisms can facilitate the learning process on dialogue, and the reflective abiliy of the members is very important. Besides we could adopt different feedback mechanism to facilitate the learning effectiveness depending on the situation; therefore, we also made several suggestions on every feedback mechanisms for future adoption.

With the advent and development of modern information technology, such as the Internet, the difficulty in transmitting data has been reduced significantly. This makes it easier for entities to share their experience to a larger extent than before. In this thesis, we study the design and analysis of feedback mechanisms, which are the information systems that enable entities to learn information from others' experience. We provide a framework for feedback mechanisms. We first provide an abstract model of a feedback mechanism which defines the scope of our concept and identifies the necessary components of a feedback mechanism. We then provide a framework for feedback mechanisms. This provides a global and systematic view of feedback mechanisms. We also use our model and framework to decompose and analyse several existing feedback mechanisms. We propose an electronic marketplace which can be used for trading online services such as computational resources and digital storage. This marketplace incorporates a dispute prevention and resolution mechanism that is explicitly designed to encourage the good conduct of marketplace users, as well as providing important security features and being cost-effective. We also show how to incorporate the marketplace into Grid computing for exchanging computational resources. We propose a novel feedback mechanism for electronic marketplaces. In this setting, the role of feedback is no longer a “shadow of the future”, but a “shadow of the present”. In other words, feedback directly impacts on the seller's payoff for the current transaction instead of future transactions. This changes the fundamental functionality of feedback, which solves many inherent problems of reputation systems that are commonly applied in electronic marketplaces. We provide a novel announcement scheme for vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) based on a reputation system in order to evaluate message reliability. This scheme features robustness against adversaries, efficiency and fault tolerance to temporary unavailability of the central server.

A Rearch of the Self-Presentation and Feedback Mechanisms of Politicians' websites: A Case Study of the Members of 4th Legislative YuanChen, Shih-Ping 03 July 2001 (has links)
Personal website is a new political communication channel of politicians in recent years. Websites can be politicians¡¦ personal media because of distinguishing features of unlimited space and hypermedia. Politicians present various kinds of information, political opinion and great self-image in their personal websites. This interactive media also provides the interaction between politicians and citizens.
This thesis mainly uses content analysis to discover how 4th-term legislators present themselves in WWW as well as their websites¡¦ functionality and design. Then it also uses Web-based questionnaire to understand the usage and utility of websites¡¦ feedback mechanisms.
The conclusions are as followed: (1) The DPP legislators are the most likely ones when it comes to establishing personal websites among the lawmakers. Although KMT has more than half shares in the Legislative Yuan, they have less than fifty percent of share in those who create their own personal websites. However, judging from the percentage of those who have websites in regard to their own party, the TAIP and New Party legislators, with more than fifty percent of them creating their own sites, are the most willing ones. (2) The research validates that politicians are experts of self-presentation. There are 70% of legislators using one or more self presentation strategies in their website and presenting various kinds of images in front of citizens. Self-promotion and ingratiation strategies are utilized the most. In addition, female legislators use more ingratiation strategies and present more professional image than male legislators. (3) There are 80% of legislators using at least one or more feedback mechanisms in their websites. It shows most of legislators realize the significance of their interaction with Internet users. But further analysis reveals that they didn¡¦t try to use the advantages brought from the Internet-based interaction, as there are nearly 40% of their websites having only one feedback mechanism. (4) Internet users think that the most important functions of legislators¡¦ websites are feedback mechanisms such as email, guest book and discussion group, etc. But these websites aren¡¦t doing a good job in providing feedbacks to their supporters. Judging from the evidence of users¡¦ usage of email boxes and services of petition, those who have never received a reply from the websites are the majority, which means that while the legislators¡¦ websites provide a space for public disclosure, there¡¦s much room to be desired when it comes to the legislators¡¦ and their staffs¡¦ regards to the public opinion.

When consulted, aid-recipients consistently report not feeling included or adequately consulted regarding the planning and execution of programmes. On top of a serious lack of opportunities to be engaged or empowered this seems to provide a sufficient reason to explore ways of making participation in humanitarian action an empowering experience in itself. This paper will explore how empowerment could be used in practice and employs the term empowering participation to refer to the desired process of including aid-recipients. To do so it uses a hypothetical example of how it might be accommodated in a programme’s feedback mechanism (FM), that controls a certain access to information and influence, identified as key to empowerment, as a case study to understand some of the potential, and limits, of empowerment as praxis. To get a better idea of how the special circumstances of different groups affect the process youth have been singled out as the programme’s hypothetical target group. The key finding is that for a FM to facilitate empowering participation a clear focus has to be on a commitment to, and recognition of, an incentive to see the relationship within it as one between experts. Requiring the reasons for entering into a communicative relationship to be clearly stated as well as clarifying the roles of those involved. Perversely, confusion or vagueness could frustrate or counter empowerment efforts. There are certainly challenges, but without confronting them we will not know what benefits could have been reaped and if we take serious the view that people should fundamentally be supported to help themselves, we should not shy away from asking and giving serious consideration to difficult questions.

Computer networks are continuously evolving and growing in size and complexity. New technologies are being introduced which further increases the complexity. Net- work Service Orchestration is all about pushing configuration out into the network devices automatically without human intervention. There can be issues that causes the orchestration to fail. In many cases manual operations must be done to recover from the error which is very contradicting since the goal of orchestration is that it should be fully automated. There is some indication that the errors that are being solved manually could be de- tected and handled by a feedback mechanism. This thesis work aimed to build on current insight and if possible, verify that the feedback mechanism is a viable method. After consideration on different ways to solve the research question, the choice fell on creating a test environment where the approach was tested. The test environment was used to investigate if a network orchestration system could be integrated with a feedback mechanism. The result of this project presents a way to automatically de- tect a network failure and send feedback to a Network Service Orchestrator. The or- chestrator is then able to identify and correct the error. / Datornätverk utvecklas kontinuerligt och växer i storlek och komplexitet. Nyteknik införs som ytterligare ökar komplexiteten. Nätverksservice orkestrering handlar om att skicka ut konfiguration automatiskt till enheter i nätverket utan mänsklig in- blandning. Det kan finnas problem som gör att orkestreringen misslyckas. The essence of online group-buying is to lower the price by gathering orders However, the process is filled with uncertainty and risks, such as the number of joining members, the final price, the quality of products, and even the trustworthiness of the initiators. Generally speaking, consumers tend to reduce risks by searching more information. The more uncertainties there are, the more information seeking should be. Online feedback mechanism is often adopted as a strategy to lower risks and uncertainties. Both e-Bay and Yahoo provide such feedback mechanisms. In addition, the larger the number of accumulated orders is, the higher possibilities to lower the price and risk will be. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to explore how the online feedback mechanism and the number of accumulated orders impact consumers¡¦ perceived risk and trust in the initiator and furthermore, how the perceived risk and trust impact consumers¡¦ behavior in online group buying.
The study shows that the content of the online feedback mechanism has significant impact on consumers¡¦ perceived financial risk, performance risk, total risk and the trust in initiator as well. The more negative the content is, the more risks the consumers perceive and the less trust in the initiators the consumers have. Furthermore, different contents will result in different kinds of risks perceived by consumers. With larger number of accumulated orders, consumers have more trust in initiators. Additionally, consumers have higher intentions to join group-buying when they perceive lower risk and more trust in initiators. Therefore, consumers¡¦ intentions to join group-buying have significant impact on their actual behavior.

Context. Nowadays, mobile applications and services have occupied an essential part in our daily life. We use them to fulfill our needs for communication, news, or entertainment. Within a fierce competitive market, mobile applications need continually improvement through collections of user feedback to satisfy users’ needs. However, in mobile applications, lack of a comprehensive consideration in designing feedback mechanism makes it difficult to efficiently collect user feedback. It shows only approximate one third online user reviews that contain helpful information for improvement. In addition, users may be disturbed by feedback request, result in rejecting to provide feedback. Objectives. This study aims to provide a comprehensive consideration for elicitation of user feedback in mobile applications. Methods. This study followed a mixed qualitative-quantitative research approach. Firstly, we conducted an experiment and a semi-structured interview to investigate how do users provide feedback when they are using a mobile application. Then a content analysis and a statistical analysis were conducted for analyzing collected data. Results. Users’ preference of feedback approaches and the encouraging/discouraging factors for users to provide feedback were identified. We also assessed user-perceived suitable timings for interruption of feedback request. Conclusions. The result shows, generally, users prefer to provide feedback when asked by feedback request. Three encouraging factors and Three discouraging factors are identified. The beginning of mobile application execution is perceived as best moment for interruption of feedback request. In addition, this study also provides a three-time-dimensions approach for researching disturbances caused by interruption of feedback request as well as other peripheral information.

Efeito dos inibidores de proteinase de soja no padrão de expressão de proteinases de Spodoptera frugiperda / Effect of soybean peptidase inhibitor in pattern endopeptidase expression of Spodoptera frugiperdaSouza, Thais Paula de 02 September 2013 (has links)
Dentre as substâncias químicas secretadas pelas plantas, contra os insetos herbívoros, os inibidores de peptidases são de grande interesse. A atenção dada a esses inibidores deve-se ao fato, de eles serem uma boa alternativa no controle de insetos praga, uma vez que não causam danos ao meio ambiente. Contudo, muitas espécies de insetos são capazes de escapar dos efeitos negativos dos inibidores de peptidases das plantas, via diferentes mecanismos adaptativos. Devido a esse fato, é importante compreender os mecanismos desenvolvidos pelos insetos para burlar os efeitos dos inibidores de peptidases das plantas. Diante desse panorama, este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar o mecanismo adaptativo das serina endopeptidases de Spodoptera frugiperda aos inibidores de endopeptidases de soja. Foram realizadas análises do transcriptoma dos intestinos das lagartas mantidas em exposição crônica ao inibidor. Para averiguar os efeitos causados devido à exposição crônica ao inibidor, foram realizadas comparações da expressão relativa, dos genes de tripsinas e quimotripsinas, de intestinos de lagartas de sexto instar. Contudo, para entender o efeito da exposição aguda ao inibidor, lagartas de S. frugiperda foram criadas em dieta artificial controle até o primeiro dia do sexto instar, após esse período elas foram transferidas para dieta artificial acrescida com 0,5 % dos inibidores de endopeptidases de soja, durante 48 horas. Para verificar a ocorrência de um possível controle epigenético na expressão dos genes, as lagartas foram conduzidas até a fase adulta e os adultos, de cada tratamento, foram acasalados entre si, constituindo uma segunda geração. Dados de expressão relativa foram obtidos, de indivíduos da primeira e segunda geração, e foram então comparados. Foram identificados 14 possíveis genes de quimotripsinas e nove possíveis genes de tripsinas. Os genes de tripsina foram divididos em dois grupos distintos em relação a sua sensibilidade aos inibidores de endopepetidases de soja e expressão relativa. Houve uma resposta diferenciada na ativação dos genes de serina endopeptidases de S. frugiperda, a qual dividiu os genes em dois grupos, os responsivos e os não responsivos ao inibidor. A exposição aguda ao inibidor ativou um pequeno grupo de genes, enquanto que a exposição crônica promoveu uma maior amplitude de expressão gênica, sugerindo mecanismos temporalmente regulados. Por último, evidências indicam, pela primeira vez, a possível ocorrência de um mecanismo epigenético, na resposta das enzimas digestivas aos inibidores de serina endopeptidases de soja. / Among the chemicals secreted by plants against insect herbivores, peptidase inhibitors (PIs) are of great interest. The attention given to PIs is due to the fact that they are a good alternative to control insect pests since they do not cause damage to human health and the environment. However, many species of insects are able to escape the negative effects of PIs plants via different adaptive mechanisms. Because of this, it is important to understand the mechanisms developed by insects to circumvent the effects of PIs plants. Against this background, this research aimed to study the adaptive mechanism of serine endopeptidases Spodoptera frugiperda to soybean endopeptidase inhibitors. For this purpose, larvae of S. frugiperda were reared on artificial diet and control artificial diet plus 0.5% of endopeptidase inhibitors of soybean. We conducted a transcriptome midgut of worms maintained in chronic ingestion of the inhibitor. The relative expression of the genes, trypsin and chymotrypsin, was also compared the midgut of sixth instar larvae kept in these diets. In another experiment, the larvae were conducted to moth, then the treatments were mated forming a second generation. Relative expression data were obtained for individuals of the first and second generation, and then compared. Identified 14 genes with potential of chymotrypsin and 9 trypsin like genes. The trypsin gene were divided into two groups for both their sensitivity to PI soybean endopeptidase, and for their relative expression pattern. There was a differentiated response on the genes activation of S. frugiperda serina endopeptidases. The genes were clustered in 2 groups, the responsive ones and the non responsive to the inhibitor. The acute exposition to the inhibitor activated a small group of genes and the chronic exposition affected several genes, indicating the existence of temporal regulated mechanism. Besides, there is a possible occurance of an epigenetic mechanism, which is related to the digestive serina endopeptidases inhibitors of soybean.

Online group-buying means that a crowd of consumers combine with each other and massively purchase a certain object, and therefore can attain to a lower price(Kauffman et al. 2002). In group-buying transaction model, consumers usually recognized the risks specially. Therefore, the feedback mechanisms were used to reduce the risks and increase the trust.
In general electronic shopping, many past studies especially explore the use of feedback mechanisms(Dellarocas 2003; Singh et al. 1991). However, there are few studies about the effect of feedback mechanisms on online group-buying. Compare to general electronic shopping, shopping in group-buying will include more uncertainty and risk. Thus, this study will use experimental methodology to explore the feedback mechanisms that how to impact the behavior of group-buying consumers with forum and rating feedback mechanisms. Our study mainly explores whether the feedback mechanisms affect the consumers¡¦ trust in seller¡¦s credibility and perceived risk in group-buying, and whether the intention to join group-buying is influenced by the trust in seller¡¦s credibility and perceived risk.
The study shows that the online group-buying consumer behavior is influenced by the feedback mechanisms exactly. The ratings affect consumers¡¦ perceived financial risk, perceived time risk and perceived psychological risk. The forum affect consumer¡¦s psychological risk perceived, and the experience of the initiator who initiates group-buying also affect the consumer¡¦s time risk perceived. The intention to join group-buying is influenced by the trust in seller¡¦s credibility and perceived risk.
