[pt] OS FILHOS DA REVOLUÇÃO, O FUTURO DA NAÇÃO: UM ESTUDO SOBRE COMUNICAÇÃO, MÚSICA, JUVENTUDES E TROCAS GERACIONAIS NO ROCK IN RIO / [en] THE CHILDREN OF REVOLUTION, THE NATION S FUTURE: A STUDY ON COMMUNICATION, MUSIC, YOUNGSTERS AND GENERATIONAL EXCHANGES AT ROCK IN RIO

JULIANA MULLER 12 April 2018 (has links)
[en] The study aims to identify the ways by which the music festival entitled Rock in Rio was able to cross generations in the city of Rio de Janeiro and make itself relevant along with the distinct youths who have lived and experienced its various editions for more than thirty years (1985-2017) with future events already confirmed. To this end, the study presents an analysis of contemporary festivals as one of the main broadcasters of music in the present time, besides being relevant mediators of the face-to-face meeting and the social coexistence; and also how they became symbols of values typically associated with the concept of youth, which have found particular circumstances in Brazil that led to the emergence of Rock in Rio. The study then presents some institutional information about this music festival, together with theoretical contributions on the fields of communication, history and memory that reflect the context of its accomplishment. Finally, the findings of the two stages included in the fieldwork are presented: (a) a research carried out during the September 2017 edition of Rock in Rio; and (b) in-depth interviews with members of the audience of this festival s first edition, in 1985, together with current young people, regarding the age group, who accompanied its most recent editions (from 2011). Both phases were aimed at understanding the symbolic value of Rock in Rio for the distinct generations that make up its audience, something that was perceived as intrinsic to the festival s longevity.

Deraeve, Jeroen 07 1900 (has links)
Until the end of the twentieth century, studies on Iranian cinema consider the Islamic Revolution of 1979 as a turning point in the history of this cinema, i.e. they divide its history in two eras, pre-revolutionary and post-revolutionary. This research joins the recent idea that this national cinema emerged as a continuous progression dominated by contradictory and ambiguous cultural policies. In the first chapter of this essay, we will paint a general picture of the history of Iranian cinema, and its festival culture in particular. We will clarify the political and cultural incentives that orchestrate the decisions of the authorities and the industry’s professionals. The second chapter will question the notion of national cinema, and will apply this notion to Iranian cinema. Special attention will be paid to the Farabi Cinema Foundation, a key institution in the promotion of Iranian national cinema and in the emergence of Iranian films in international film festivals. Thereafter, the third chapter will present the role of festivals in the film industry and an analysis of the evolution of Iranian films presented at the Montreal World Film Festival in order to demonstrate the influence of vague Iranian cultural policies on the presence of Iranian films in Western films festivals.

Le spectateur en mouvement : perspectives et impacts de la diffusion cinématographique numérique sur les pratiques spectatorielles en milieu festivalier / The viewer in motion : the impact of digital diffusion on audiences in film festivals

Theurel, François 06 December 2011 (has links)
This research, conducted in partnership with the Cannes Film Market, seeks tounderstand the impact exerted by digital diffusion technologies on the movie goers in the collective context of festivals.Unlike theories associating the practices of individuals to the idea of a positivist break, particularly in a context where a large number of medias describe digital evolutions as"revolutionary", we have tried to grasp the complexity of the practices and representations of spectators, both in the irevolutionary and continuity aspects, in the context of what we have called the digitalera. Our two main studyfields, the Cannes Film Market and the Kinotayo Festival, have allowed ustotackle our questions from two perspectives : that of the direct impact of digital tools on the practices and representations of spectators in a collective situation, but also that of the impact of digital diffusion technologies on the festival entity itself. The question of the spectators ’movement allowed by the uses of digital diffusion tools leads us, in the context of the highlys edentary cinematographic activity, to several issues of importance : questioning the potential individualization of a collective practice, questioning the renewed possibilities of interaction between the spectators and the cinematographicchain, but also questioning the evolving limits of what is known as "festivals". Thus appears, in this research, a multidimensional dynamic of reconfiguration of the collective festival and cinema expériences. Between the collective and private spheres, between "traditional" representations and evolving practices, this study shows us that the evolution of practices and représentations in a digital context is not about the idea of a break, but about the idea of continuity.

Social determinants of community support for the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival / I. Loots

Loots, Ingemari January 2010 (has links)
The primary purpose of this study was to determine the social determinants of arts festivals with reference to the ABSA KKNK. This goal was achieved by firstly analysing the event/festival phenomenon and the role thereof in event/festival tourism. Secondly, a literature study was conducted in order to examine the role of the community in supporting events/festivals. And thirdly, the results of the empirical research were discussed. Lastly, conclusions were drawn from the research and recommendations were made with regard to the social determinants of events/festivals. Literature indicated that events/festivals are central to daily living as perhaps never before and it can also be said that events/festivals play certain social, economic, cultural and environmental roles. Events/festivals can have various positive impacts on a community, such as job opportunities, economical growth and upliftment of the community. However it can also create various negative impacts such as crime, prostitution and damage to the environment. It is important to increase the number of positive impacts and decrease the number of negative impacts. This may improve the support of the community for the event/festival and improve the sustainability of the event/festival. The support of the community is also influenced by aspects such as community concern, ecocentric attitudes, community attachment. These social support determinants were measured by means of a questionnaire, as adapted from Gursoy and Kendall (2006) and it was therefore the objective of the questionnaire to analyse the social determinants that that may improve community support. The survey was distributed in the community of Oudtshoorn in 2007 and the determinants, as well as the relationship between the determinants and support for the event/festival, were based on structural equation modeling. A total of 279 questionnaires were completed during the festival. Respondents were, in general, more positive about the festival than negative. The results of the structural equation modelling suggest that community attachment and benefits and costs perceived are the most important social determinants in gaining local support for the ABSA KKNK. In the case of this study, ecocentric attitudes and issues of community concern did not influence the level of support given to the event/festival. / Thesis (M.A. (Tourism))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2011.

Globální přesah české dokumentární tvorby prezentované v rámci festivalu Jeden svět (2008-2018) / Global Overlap of Czech documentary film presented within International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival One World Festival (2008-2018)

Fenclová, Anežka January 2020 (has links)
The following thesis offers an insight into a collection of documentary movies, which were screened in the category Czech Competition (Česká sekce) presented by the film festival One World (Jeden svět), as well as the nomination process behind it. The first section of the Body of this Thesis (Practical Part) is focused on the nomination process. In particular its objective is to describe principal changes in the nomination process and at the same time outline its future developments. This is achieved by means of exclusive interviews with five Program Section members in charge of the nomination process (both former and contemporary). Heightened attention is being dedicated to the films nominated for the Czech Competition section with regards to its specifics. The other part of the thesis body is based on thorough analysis of the films selected for the Czech competition between the years 2010-2019. By means of original interviews and content analysis the thesis attempts to establish an idea of which features are significant for the films representing the Czech Republic at this documentary film festival and what conclusions can be drawn from this about the Czech documentary film scene in general. The theoretical part of the thesis offers sourcing this approach in expert literature.

Uppskattning av betalningsviljan för Peace & Love 2011

Dahlqvist, Hampus, Laham, Tarek January 2016 (has links)
In this thesis the willingness to pay among the visitors of peace & love-festival year 2011 is valued. With survey data based on revealed and stated preferences a regression analysis is presented with different independent variables that characterizes a festival visitor. Total budget is the dependent variable in the regression analysis and is, in this thesis, to be regarded as equivalent to visitors’ willingness to pay. The analysis shows that men in general spend 301 SEK more than women, tourists in general spend 1 124 SEK more than non-tourists and that the average visitor has a willingness to pay valued to 4 183 SEK. A consumer surplus has also been valued, which amounted to 743 SEK per visitor and around 37 million SEK in total for all 50,000 visitors. This thesis does not take into account the economic effects the festival holds on the city of Borlänge.

A Study of Policy Marketing in Local Government-Illustrated by Yilan International Children’s Folklore&Folkgame Festival

Tu,Yu Chieh Unknown Date (has links)
In recent years, the Taiwanese local governments often use festival celebrations to generate economical and political benefits, and at the same time to create and promote their local cultural characteristics. Under the pressure of political and economical competitions, the local governments are forced to encourage festival celebrations aggressively in order to revitalize the local tourism business and further economical opportunities. The local governments use marketing concept to bring financial enhancement and improve its fresh image and unique characteristics. In all festival celebration events held by the local governments in Taiwan, Yilan International Children’s Folklore&Folkgame Festival is considered as the most outstanding one. It successfully combined aspects of tourism, leisure events and cultural gatherings to establish Yilan’s distinctiveness. Such strategic activities have won the votes of its local residents and become an international recognition event. It has also been shaped into the best learning model and a practical example for many other county authorities to follow. This study aims to examine policy marketing and other related festival theories and literature, with the purpose of understanding the local government festival marketing value, its strategic plan and procedures, and yet comparing the similarities and differences between the policy marketing and the festival marketing. By employing Yilan International Children’s Folklore&Folkgame Festival as a study case, this paper analyzes the local government’s strategic progress in festival marketing and its environmental factors. In addition, it examines the results of such policy marketing practices for recommendations to other county authorities. After eleven years of annual celebrations, Yilan International Children’s Folklore&Folkgame Festival is currently facing with increasing competitors and at the same time, losing innovative ideas and other operating management problems. This study finds the Festival is being affected greatly by political factors and lacking the overall marketing strategy. As a result, such event must not be influenced by any political reasons and needs to increase its access to funds in developing creative ideas to attract consumers and to create a successful and sustainable festival event.
