A Study of Policy Marketing in Local Government-Illustrated by Yilan International Children’s Folklore&Folkgame Festival

Tu,Yu Chieh Unknown Date (has links)
In recent years, the Taiwanese local governments often use festival celebrations to generate economical and political benefits, and at the same time to create and promote their local cultural characteristics. Under the pressure of political and economical competitions, the local governments are forced to encourage festival celebrations aggressively in order to revitalize the local tourism business and further economical opportunities. The local governments use marketing concept to bring financial enhancement and improve its fresh image and unique characteristics. In all festival celebration events held by the local governments in Taiwan, Yilan International Children’s Folklore&Folkgame Festival is considered as the most outstanding one. It successfully combined aspects of tourism, leisure events and cultural gatherings to establish Yilan’s distinctiveness. Such strategic activities have won the votes of its local residents and become an international recognition event. It has also been shaped into the best learning model and a practical example for many other county authorities to follow. This study aims to examine policy marketing and other related festival theories and literature, with the purpose of understanding the local government festival marketing value, its strategic plan and procedures, and yet comparing the similarities and differences between the policy marketing and the festival marketing. By employing Yilan International Children’s Folklore&Folkgame Festival as a study case, this paper analyzes the local government’s strategic progress in festival marketing and its environmental factors. In addition, it examines the results of such policy marketing practices for recommendations to other county authorities. After eleven years of annual celebrations, Yilan International Children’s Folklore&Folkgame Festival is currently facing with increasing competitors and at the same time, losing innovative ideas and other operating management problems. This study finds the Festival is being affected greatly by political factors and lacking the overall marketing strategy. As a result, such event must not be influenced by any political reasons and needs to increase its access to funds in developing creative ideas to attract consumers and to create a successful and sustainable festival event.

Music For Sale? : Umeå Open & Umeå International Jazz Festival - A Study in Event Marketing

Törnmarck, Oskar, Wikström, Johannes January 2009 (has links)

Umeå is a city that is known for its music scene. Credible bands and artists have consequently sprung out and put the city on the map for as long the authors of this paper can remember. The city has a specific image and this study seeks to shine a light on how this came to be. Has there been a conscious marketing strategy in order to gain the reputation that Umeå has, or is the city’s music scene so prominent that it speaks for itself? Data for the study were collected through conducting qualitative interviews with the producers of the two music festivals Umeå Open and Umeå International Jazz Festival. The results show that cultural visions and marketing are constantly interacting, but to the authors’ knowledge, no conscious decisions have previously been taken to market Umeå as a city of music. Still, with current acts like Deportees, David Sandström and Frida Hyvönen just to mention a few, the image of Umeå is more justified than ever.

人造網購節慶之策略行銷4C分析:以天貓雙十一及京東六一八為例 / Marketing strategy analysis in online shopping festival: the case of Tmall Double 11 and JD.com 618

Liou, Hao Yu Unknown Date (has links)
Thanks to the advancement of Internet, E-commerce has become a big business. China is by far the largest market for business to consumer (B2C) e-commerce, with combined sales of over US$617 billion in 2015, ahead the United States and the United Kingdom. In 2009, Alibaba began using youth subculture “Single Day:1111(Double 11)” to promote discounts at retailers on its e-commerce platforms, which storming the online shopping for the very first time. Since 2013, Double 11 has become the biggest online shopping festival in the world. The latest data showed that Double 11 was officially called to come at US$20 billion in 2016, easily eclipsing the US$2.74 billion and US$3.07 billion respectively generated online during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Owing to the success of Double 11, aroused the other e-commerce competitors’ interest to launch all kinds of "made-up shopping festival". However, excessive shopping holidays defocused customer attention and led to failure. In order to discover the key factors that make online shopping festival successful and give some marketing strategy suggestion, this study examines the world’s biggest online shopping festival “Double 11” and its main competitor “JD.com 618” through the 4C framework. And this study identifies the reason which caused the awareness differentiation. According to the analysis results, both “T-mall Double 11” and “JD.com 618” decrease the cost of C1, C2 and C3. For the C4, T-mall successfully builds strong connection between T-mall and the festival, created not only the promotion related specific asset, but also brand related specific asset. It generates a 4C positive cycle and maximizes the strength of festival marketing. However, JD.com fails to create brand related specific asset, only generates a weak 4C cycle. Therefore, the awareness of 618 is far less than double 11.
