Dual Antenna Use on a GPS Receiver

Altan, Han 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2008 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Fourth Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 27-30, 2008 / Town and Country Resort & Convention Center, San Diego, California / Due to vehicle dynamics in mobile systems, GPS signal reception may be blocked by the body of the vehicle. This paper discusses various studies made on some vehicles such as the Space Shuttle, various aircraft, and analyzes the implementation of dual GPS antenna systems. Constructive and destructive interference characteristics of signal combining are considered. The author suggests an approach which uses a delay line on one of the antennas while analyzing the front end C/N0 needed for L1 GPS reception. An embedded Excel spreadsheet provides a front-end Noise Figure (NF) calculation tool based on user selected parameters.

Graphics Editor

Zhao, Die January 2007 (has links)
<p>The human enters into the information age in 21st century; the computer science and technology are developed at full speed, and already infiltrate into various field extensively. Resultantly manual drawing gradually is phased out, for those designers who have no prior experience in the computer operation are concerned, they need to have a kind of two-dimensional graphical tool. Graphics editor system arose to the request for designing planar figures for people who have little knowledge in computer.</p><p>This paper describes the development process of this system what is studied for the foundation, utilize object-oriented method to analyze, design with computer figure, and adopt Visual C ++ 6.0 as the developing platform. All these have been finished after 1 month or so. It designs to be two-dimensional graphical software with diverse function which operates simply, easy to study, mutual interface friendly graphics editor system and has satisfied some figure users at present with the new demand as well.</p><p>The following main functions have been realized in this application: It can draw various figures, such as dot, line, circle, arc, parabola and curve, modify them and comprehensive editing. Figure editor includes translation, mirroring, rotating and some similar operations. Comprehensive drawing includes drawing polygon (sealed and arbitrary polygon), round tangent line, round circle contact, line circle contact, some circle contacts and so forth. Meanwhile obtain the point of intersect between the arbitrary crossing, and draw different figures basically according to the points of intersect. By the way, it is capable to cancel and redraw the editing.</p>

The structure function as a metric for roughness and figure

Parks, Robert E., Tuell, Michael T. 27 September 2016 (has links)
As optical designs become more sophisticated and incorporate aspheric and free form surfaces, the need to specify limits on mid-spatial frequency manufacturing errors becomes more critical, particularly as we better understand the effects of these errors on image quality. While there already exist methods based on Fourier analysis to specify these errors in most commercial interferometry software, the method of calculation and the power spectral density (PSD) results remain obscure to many in the optical design and manufacturing field. We suggest that the structure functions (SF) contains the same information as in the Fourier based PSD but in a way that is much more transparent to analysis, interpretation and application as a specification. The units of measure are more familiar and the concept behind the analysis is simpler to understand. Further, the information contained in the structure function (or PSD) allows a complete specification of an optical surface from the finest measurable detail of roughness to the overall figure. We discuss the origin of the structure function in the field of astronomy to describe the effects of air turbulence on image quality, the simple mathematical definition of the structure function and its easy means of calculation and how its results should be scaled depending on the location of the optical surface in a system from pupil to image plane. Finally, we give an example of how to write a specification of an optical surface using the structure function.

THE EXTENDED HIGH A(V) QUASAR SURVEY: SEARCHING FOR DUSTY ABSORBERS TOWARD MID-INFRARED-SELECTED QUASARS

Krogager, J.-K., Fynbo, J. P. U., Heintz, K. E., Geier, S., Ledoux, C., Møller, P., Noterdaeme, P., Venemans, B. P., Vestergaard, M. 15 November 2016 (has links)
We present the results of a new spectroscopic survey for dusty intervening absorption systems, particularly damped Ly alpha absorbers (DLAs), toward reddened quasars. The candidate quasars are selected from mid-infrared photometry from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer combined with optical and near-infrared photometry. Out of 1073 candidates, we secure low-resolution spectra for 108 using the Nordic Optical Telescope on La Palma, Spain. Based on the spectra, we are able to classify 100 of the 108 targets as quasars. A large fraction (50%) is observed to have broad absorption lines (BALs). Moreover, we find six quasars with strange breaks in their spectra, which are not consistent with regular dust reddening. Using template fitting, we infer the amount of reddening along each line of sight ranging from A(V). approximate to. 0.1 to 1.2 mag (assuming a Small Magellanic Cloud extinction curve). In four cases, the reddening is consistent with dust exhibiting the 2175 angstrom feature caused by an intervening absorber, and for two of these, an Mg II absorption system is observed at the best-fit absorption redshift. In the rest of the cases, the reddening is most likely intrinsic to the quasar. We observe no evidence for dusty DLAs in this survey. However, the large fraction of BAL quasars hampers the detection of absorption systems. Out of the 50 non-BAL quasars, only 28 have sufficiently high redshift to detect Ly alpha in absorption.

Susceptibility to the Mueller-Lyer Illusion as a Function of Conflicts in Self Concept and the Characteristics of the Stimulus

Khan, Ehsan Ullah, 1933- 01 1900 (has links)
While various studies have related susceptibility to the Mueller-Lyer illusion to mental health, to developmental maturity, and to self-differentiation, there have been no studies in which susceptibility to the illusion has been related to a wide spectrum of self-concept dimensions. It is one of the purposes of the present study to analyze susceptibility to the Mueller-Lyer illusion as a function of errors in self-perception. To the extent that an individual suffers conflicts with regard to his self-concept, in any of its significant dimensions, it is expected that he will suffer a greater susceptibility to the illusion.

Action non humaine dans l’organisation en changement : un examen épistémologique comparatif de la ventriloquie

Selleger, Sylvain 08 1900 (has links)
The study of change management intends to identify what can be active in an organization, making it evolve in a direction that follows or resists to the goals defined by those in charge. This study wants to compare the propositions put forward by a ventriloqual approach to communication, as defined by François Cooren in Action and agency in dialogue (2010), with two works dealing with organizational change : The knowledge-creating company (Nonaka & Takeuchi, 1995) and The Dance of Change (Senge, 1999). The goal is to understand how this ventriloqual perspective allows a better understanding of the nature and contributions of these different forms of agency. Through this comparative inquiry, the ambition of this work is also to offer a perspective on ventriloquism itself, by highlighting its most innovative aspects, in order to demonstrate the progress constituted in particular by nonhuman agency and the dislocality of interaction.
