The article looks at a number of concepts of soul -sorne of them not easily reconcilable with others- in the earlier dialogues of Plato, and then moves on to discuss the well-known doctrine of tripartition in the Republic and Timaeus, arguing that it constitutes in many ways significant progress over Plato's earlier thinking, especially as found in the Phaedo. Mention is also made of the little-discussed question of the nature and significance of gender differentiation of soul in the Timaeus. As for the famous passage,again in the Tímaeus, conceming the composition of soul. it is argued that this may well have been an attempt by Plato to grapple with the thorny question of psycho-physical dualism. / Este artículo analiza algunos conceptos del alma - no siempre fáciles deconciliar entre sí- en los diálogos tempranos de Platón. Prosigue luego con una discusión acerca de la bien conocida doctrina sobre la tripartición del alma en la República y el Timeo, sosteniendo que esta doctrina constituye, en muchos sentidos, un progreso importante con respecto al pensamiento temprano de Platón, especialmente al Fedón. Se menciona también la cuestión poco discutida de la naturaleza e importancia de la diferenciación de géneros del alma en el Timeo. En relación con el famoso pasaje, también del Timeo, sobre la composición del alma, se sostiene que bien pudo haber sido un intento de Platón por lidiar con la espinosa cuestión del dualismo psicofísico.

This paper proposes an interpretation of the renowned last section of Hume's Natural History of Religion, after examining this work and its relations with some of his other works. The aim of this study is to give the clues to understanding Hume's critique of a rationally founded natural religion. The paper mainly contends that Hume destroys the basis for a rational religion independent or autonomous regarding superstition. He does so by means of a historical analysis of religious belief's process embedded in human nature's principies. All forms of religion are, therefore, some form or other of superstitious belief. / En este artículo se presenta una interpretación del conocido párrafo final de la Historia natural de la religión, mediante un examen de esta obra y de sus relaciones con otras obras de Hume. El objetivo de este estudio es proporcionar las claves para entender la crítica de Hume a una religión natural racional mente fundada. La tesis principal sostieneque Hume. mediante un análisis histórico del proceso de la creencia religiosa a partir de los principios de la naturaleza humana, destruye el sustento para una religión racional independiente o autónoma respecto a la superstición. Toda modalidad de religión es. por consiguiente, unau otra forma de creencia supersticiosa.

From the standpoint of the regime of signs, proposed by Deleuze and Guattart. semiotics is understood as general pragmatics where the set of the systems of signs is articulated. From that perspective. this paper attempts to discus show the heart sacrifice and the anthropophagic pulsion, identified in the great pre-Hispanic cultures of Central America. can be projected as a plane of contents in a mixed semiotics to imperial scale. A number of scholars and academics have tried to postulate, from there, a fundamental symbolic structure of the Maya and Aztec cultures. We only wish to describe certain ritual-statements. where there is a coincidence between Sahagún's ethnographictexts and the writings left by the Aztecs. in arder to understand the role of what Lyotard calls 'figural', for others the pre-propositional, in the thought of ancient Mexicans. / A partir de la noción de regímenes de signos, propuesta por Deleuze y Guattari, la semiótica se concibe como una pragmática general donde se articula el conjunto de los sistemas de signos. Desde esa perspectiva, el presente artículo trata de ver cómo el sacrificio del corazón y la pulsión antropofágica, que identifican las grandes culturas prehispánicas de Mesoamérica, pueden ser proyectados como plano de contenido de una semiótica mixta a escala imperial. Numerosos estudiosos y eruditos han intentado postular, a partir de allí, una estructura simbólica fundamental de la cultura maya o azteca. Nosotros simplemente queremos describir ciertos enunciados rituales -donde coinciden los textos etnográficos de Sahagún y las escrituras legadas por los aztecas- a fin de comprender el rol de lo que Lyotard llama figural''. para otros lo prejudicativo, en el pensamiento delos antiguos mexicanos.
